  • Ask the question : What is Tabala?

Answer: Please listen to Thirkhawa Khan Saheb.

Tabala players like Khansaheb are born probably once in a century or two!

    dattaji.

  • pause at 4:57 he looks like a throw back Allah Raka with glasses

  • Does anyone know who is in the photos starting at 2:18 to 2:28? There are three persons. Much appreciation!

  • @affluent111 All three are/were vocalists and appear in this order: Ustad Faiyyaz Khan (1882-1950), Ustad Mushtaq Hussain Khan (1880-1964), and Pandit Bhaskarbuwa Bakhale (1869-1922).

  • Please never take this video off youtube, and if you do, send the video to me :)

  • through his instrument he was able to reach another plane of existence. always inspiring. Thanks for posting.

  • i wish i had the fortune of being one of those students who touched his feet and sat for class.

  • @DrKashyap

Although true, is this comment aimed towards players like ustad Zakir Hussain?? I have seen him in action and he's really a humble fellow and an awesome tabla maestro.

  • I have had the fortune of listning live - this great man

  • @banauli thats cool

  • Bahut he Umda !!!

  • This is great. But there were others who did not have the fortune of long life like Ustad Thirakawa. The one and only Tabla Maestro imho is the Late Ustad Bashir Hussein "Goga" whose one rare live recording says it all. I got one off of esnips. If any one has any of his son's videos Ustad Sajjad Ali please upload.

btw another unique maestro is late Ustad Amir Hussein Khan who had a gifted hand like Ustad Goga.

  • there are no words to describe his dhere-dhere

  • He played for kings...

  • great video...thx for share it.

  • wah wah kiya baat hai

  • Probably all time greatest Tabla player Thirakwaji.

  • Even today, leading tabla players are looking up to ustaad Trikwa and learning from his work. No one comes close to the legend like him

  • Waah, Kya Baat Hai !!! Bahut Khoob

  • Interesting... and it`s getting better the more I listen to this..! Great...!

  • wery weru good thanks turkkisy hi massimo 5***

  • Tjank´s for thank´s Massimo... you´re welcome... (I always try to find interesting music... to share...)

  • I simply adore the tabla! Its earthiness is a perfect compliment to the usually more ethereal solo instruments (sitar, bansuri et al) prevalent in Hindustani music. And Thirakwaji is (based on the videos I´ve seen of him on Youtube) one of the foremost tabla-players in history.

  • Absolutely mesmerizing is the only thing that I can say. It puts me into another zone, another place. Awesome skills, he has to be a true master at this type of drumming.

  • True legend ....Thanks for upload.

  • simply amazing!!!

  • Aafareen baad! wah wah!

  • Beautiful!!

  • how i wish i was in that class... wonder what that felt like...

  • What a legend ! Kudos to him.

Also, thanks to cenkjeekhan for posting such a wonderfull peice !

  • WOW! Speechless.

Dude where and how did you get this!

  • what a tabla player...

  • shahenshah-e-tabla

  • Until now, I had only heard occasional recordings of this legend. A truly enrapturing experience to see the maestro in action, especially at such an old age. The agility and control seem as flawless as if he were a young man of 25. Thank you for a great treat.

  • wow! at this age? amazing!

  • You gave us a piece of history to see. Thanks so much.

  • wow. Thats a young PT Nikhil Ghosh

  • very good quality!

  • This is an absolutely rare piece. Many thanks for the posting
