The black Lamborghini thats in the opening credits, that was actually supposed to be used in a cannonball race by its owner, but once Brock Yates saw it, he decided that he wasnt going to run another cannonball race ever again as he realized that allowing an amateur racer use that kind of machine on public roads was asking for trouble. Instead, it got used for the opening credits of this movie.
I saw Cannonball Run in a movie theater when it was originally released back in 1981 (I was 12 years old). If I recall correctly, it got bad critical reviews, but it was the 6th highest grossing movies of that year, (earning over 72 million at the box office). Its easy to see why this earned so much in spite of the negative reviews. This is a very fun movie, a true crowd pleaser. The theater I saw it in was PACKED and the whole audience, myself included, really enjoyed watching this movie.
Great stuff. I love the opening to this movie. I like that line at the end, "It didn't take us that long to catch Dilenger!" I love this movie plus, a great onsomble cast. Thanks again. :)
Sweet....Pontiac T/A no match for Countach...I was still playing with match box cars when I got hooked on this movie...Brings back many memories. Thanks for posting.
