He's just got a ton of musical knowledge in his trick bag and can see the notes he hasn't played yet. He just rips those passing notes, building phrases that go where he wants to go. It makes me play better to watch someone that good.
What a player. I mean...this guy's got THE SOUND! And also great chords progressions ideas. I never noticed before but...he really play's by ear. You can see it while he try to explain what he is doing... he doesn't use commun musical termes like C melodic minor but second minor down (talking about the major 7). Anyway, just like Django and so many other estonishing player, this guy have is own conception of music that is not conventional occidentale conception. But at the end...it work's!
@wammybarsolo21 Actually from what I'm hearing, Tony seems to be playing pretty consistently. God has richly blessed Tony with an amazing talent, but I bet you could probably play this too, its not "too good for anyone else." Try find the dvd with the tab book with it and pratice at it. You may be surprised.
@flatpikinguitar Tony's tone has more depth, clarity and raw power than any other flatpicker I've heard, period. It's astonishing. I have a decent sounding Martin but it doesn't even compare to this.
Look at that gold plated lefthand! What a beast

It has been 35 years now since I first heard Tony - a musical hero and inspiration to me.
