Pretty sure hurting yourself to "be free from control" is taking things a little to extreme. It isn't a discomfort created by ego or an illusion, its basic instinct to not hurt yourself. By hurting yourself to show you aren't controlled by discomfort, you are actually being controlled by your ego- which is not yourself; it is against yourself (instinct).

You can download from youtube with Mozilla Firefox and a few extensions (I use download helper but there are loads of different ones). You can convert the files easily too. Quality isn't always great though.
