@Silent14411 this was a bug in portal which allowed you to write a script in the portal console which made you get into hl2.. So no there aint any fall damage cause its still portal

You can only do this if you have both HL2 and Portal. Here are the steps: Install GCFscape, then use it it extract the "maps" and "scenes" folders from "half-life 2 content.gcf" into your "steamapps/username/portal/por­tal" folder. Launch Portal, then use the Console (make sure it's enabled, under Advanced Keyboard Settings) to manually launch the first map of HL2. Enter command "map ANYHL2MAP.bsp" to start the HL2 map of your choice. Once playing, use your Console to enter "sv_cheats

@TheSkepticalIdealist half-life 2 wasnt designed to use portal gun, the maps dont account for such freedom, it seems you need to design your maps around the ability to portal jump and also have more restrictions on what surfaces are visible from any vantage point, as you can see that guy had some trouble finding a surface that would work, maybe in future portal games a portal will be able to land on any surface.
