@jp00w5941 I said 'Speed Metal' and if you really want to get technical The Stooges started in 1967 and looked at as THE first punk band and was a heavy influence to The Ramones , Sex Pistols and The Clash. That's a year before Black Sabbath, which is considered THE first Metal band. Most the bands of the 70's weren't metal at all and were really just hard rock (Kiss maybe). After Sabbath IMO Metal didn't resurface until the late 70's early 80's with bands like Judas Priest, Iron Maiden...etc.

2) Kill Em All. Similar to the demo but with better production and vocals.

3) Ride The Lightning. They grow as a band with varied influences.

4) Master of Puppets. Arguably their BEST album. That's all you need to know.

5) ...And Justice For All. Uneven production, but heavy as hell.

6) Metallica aka The Black Album. Totally mainstream. Listen to this one LAST.

Everything after 1991 is a mixed bag.

@luishyki Personally I like em all. Saint Anger tends to be frowned upon though I love about half the songs off of it. the album contains some awkward vocals and no solos. Metallica is amazing album wise and its the easiest to pick up on so I recommend that first. And Justice for All takes a while for some to get used to but Its probably my fav, try it last though and listen a few times before judging it. Ride The Lightning is pretty Progressive and epic in my opinion and Master of puppets...

@luishyki sounds similar to it only no screaming that I recall. Kill Em All is more punklike than the others cuz they were like about 18 so they were really young. Kill Em All is an amazing album many thanks to Megadeth.

Load is kinda southern hard rock and Reload I guess is metal, anyway they are very different but I think they are just great. Deathmagnetic is kinda continuing what they were doing back in the 80s and many hate it but I really love it... then again I love All the albums.

Idk wat kind of metal you ment specifically but those are all old good bands that have each lit the fire in my heart dozens of times.... In the end I put alot of music artist at par with others. To me Guns and Roses was as pivotal as Motorhead(not to mention that at one point that had both Slash and Buckethead). I think Black Sabbath is better than bother Motorhead and Guns and Roses but that doesn't mean I don't like Motorhead or Guns and Roses.
