  • This is the what the soundtrack were like in old days. Perfect.

  • I remember seeing this in the theater with my dad as a little kid--I was creeped out MAJORLY by the Jaws guy!

  • DISCO BOND !

  • The ultimate 'fuck" music...on a loop of course

  • @ChanceRooney7 but of course..........:) my name is 007.......moviemad007!! We have been waiting for you Msr Rooney....!!!!

  • I have every Bond soundtrack and this one of my favorite Bond tunes! My favorite part of this piece is @ 3:37, oh yeeeeah :]

  • @firespray9689 "The Spy Who Loved Me" has the best of the Bond soundtracks... hands down. Between this song and the unforgettable "Nobody Does It Better," it's a fantastic album.

  • :D

  • I could swear I just saw a white Lotus Esprit speeding past my house.

  • wtf? lol at 4:20 - 4:24

  • Has an extended version of the Spy who Loved Me soundtrack been released?

  • This sounds like a little like ''Saturday Night Fever''A touch of the BeeGees.

  • @georgelee43211 It is the same period! 1977!!

  • this is good music to accompany me while i read a Bond novel. thanks for this beautiful nostalgia

  • the movie nor the music ever gets old

  • all the roger moore bond movies have the best soundtracks!

  • disco bond, nice

  • I heard from an documentary that Ian Flemming got the name James Bond from some bird watcher.

  • @TheIcelandicPatriot

Correct. This bird watcher was one of the world's most foremost ornithologists and even wrote the book "Birds of the West Indies" the definitive book about Caribbean birds.

Ian Fleming spent most of his time in the Caribbean writing the James Bond novels and actually liked studying birds himself. He liked the author's name "James Bond"

Ian Fleming did ask for permission from the author himself to use his name as the name for his fictional secret agent

    Bond died in 1989

  • @McLarenMercedes The book is also featured briefly in 'Die Another Day' when Bond goes to Cuba.

  • I prefer the music score mix cut to the film not this mix. After a while it sounds like its gone from film to Bond dancing in disco from 1:27 onwards.

  • Hello Friends

who knows the title of a Bond's theme performed by Sidney Bechet

Many thanks for info and happy 2011 to all of you

    Cheers

  • The epicness!

  • This was my favorite Bond Movie.

  • Roger Moore is the best bond ever! a lot better than the new Daniel Craig crap!!

  • @maxiepc daniel craig looks he should be a russian villain

  • @maxiepc yeah, that stuff's just cheesey and unrealistic...hang on a second...although I do share your opinion regarding Quantum of Solace - actually rivals Moonraker and Octopussy on levels of ridiculousness!! I think it's actually worse when you consider the shakey-cam nonesense. In a word, motion-sickness; in a shorter word, sick

  • This is THE moment when James Bond became a larger than life blockbuster secret agent.

Did it work? Hell yes, it SAVED the franchise, since The Man With The Golden Gun was the James Bond movie which made the least money and there was wide talk the genre had ran its course and was a relic of the 60's.

They needed to impress a whole new generation of people, the same way Goldfinger had in 1964. And let's be honest, Goldfinger already veered from Ian Fleming's original novels.

    It worked.

  • yeeeeh great beginning, miss those old times

  • This film (I think) had the worst title song but than was made up of with the brilliance of Bond 77!

Was an extended version of the soundtrack ever released? I have been wanting one for Moonraker but I know of the legal problems relating to the soundtrack. With Moonraker the best stuff did not find its way onto the original soundtrack.

    Thanks for posting!!

  • @alanheath2 , I heard that Moonraker was recorded in France and the masters has been "misplaced", so there was no expanded Moonraker soundtrack. As for The Spy Who Loved Me, I am still waiting for a soundtrack that actually contain the music from the movie.

  • @PungiFungi I seem to remember that the soundtrack was lost somewhere in France. There are excerpts of Bond 77 (helicopter and underwater scene for example) which do not appear in this version from the original 1977 soundtrack.

  • @alanheath2 , yes, I remember when they were remastering the Bond soundtracks, they couldn't locate the tapes for Moonraker. As for Bond 77, yes, there are parts of it in the movie that is not in the soundtrack. In fact, a lot of music are not in the soundtrack. Instead we get full version of the Mojave Club and Eastern Lights (the latter mysteriously jam in between the music for The Pyramids -- weird).

  • @PungiFungi As well as being out of order (but not as much as Moonraker was) I also remember the soundtrack had one track that was not in the film - Anya (perhaps it was called - I am going back now a very long time). I think I have the record to this film - but it is in London and I have not seen it for 18 years plus! I bought all the extended tracks I could!

I posted the car chase + underwater scene on my channel because I like the music - like an improved Bond '77!

  • @alanheath2 , Anya was the track that was not in the movie. The end titles in the soundtrack was simply the latter half of the theme song, if you listen to the end titles of the movie, besides the male chorus in the beginning, Carly Simon actually recorded a separate end titles for the movie.

  • @PungiFungi I was not too keen on the male chorus so I did not mind that not being on the soundtrack! I could have done without Anya too (the track, not Barbara Bach!!)

The one piece I would really like to have is from Moonraker where Bond gets thrown out the 'plane. I stuck the clip on my channel but it would be nice to have it on a CD or something.

Another I was really glad to hear was the Underground Lair on the extended version of Live and Let Die!

  • plykshow: Thanks for the added crazy laughter at 4:20. Where did that come from? :D

  • The best 007 theme

  • top lied lange gsucht

  • @knightrider556 Ich auch. Aber wir können viel Bond-Musik auf you tube zu finden!!!

  • top lied lange gesucht

  • the ski scene fits, perfectly.

  • Tune! Its called Bond '77 probably because it was on the Spy Who Loved Me soundtrack which funnily enough was released in 1977!

  • @counthilarious At the time I thought it would get dated quickly being called Bond 77. Was I right 33 years ago?

  • This version is indeed a classic of the classic Bonf themes.

  • this is my nr.1 bond film , also becouse the jaws so powerful!

  • Acid Disco or what?????

  • This is classic. Dangerous, exciting.

  • I need you James so does britain classic

  • love the song can this be downloaded

  • for me this music is great in the begining in the ski chase... specially the end of it when the music stops and bond is suspended in the air.... hell of a thrill!

  • Ha ha! this makes me think of Caroline Munro chasing bond in the helicopter and giving him the sexiest wink in movie history.

TSWLM is the best of all the Bond movies. Great score by Marvin Hamlisch.

  • lol i remember that wink, pure class

  • Totally, classic 007 scene, what youd expect from the original femme fatale's!

  • i dont know what you think but to me the bond films with sean connery and roger moore were so much better than nowadays!! even the music, it was always john barry style, now you get madonna and garbage singing the themes, that aint right to me.

  • specially madonna yeah ...

  • by caolyn munro inside the helicopter...

she was GREAT on that scene... classy and deadly...

  • lol yeah perfect combination

  • The best part is where it starts at 3:39! This song really gets me in the mood for Bond!

  • yeah , and this part was re-used again in the world is not enough ..

  • lmao! ha ha ha haaaaaa why at that point? why not 4:06? lol

  • I love this song. But it needs more cowbell.

  • the best part is 0:01 to 4:23

  • Disco Bond!

  • Roger Moore is skiing towards England to save Queen and country. GOOOOOO ROG!!!!

Spy Rog is the best 00 agent ever.

  • yeah, Double-0 Roger, that was about it.

  • @pagrati007

    I have to go!

But james I need you !!!

So does England! and he skies....

  • in the movie it sounds a little bit different

  • If I remember rightly, this was used in the underwater scene?

  • reply to SpyWhoLovedHimself

This theme was used at several points throughout the film, it was first heard before the opening credits, then later on in the film when the Lotus Espirit is under water and then again during the battle on the 'oil tanker' Liparus.

  • Ah! Okay :) thanks for the info :)

  • yes, in the attack of the disco divers! lmao

  • The Roger moore ones are awesome and great because of his sarcasim and the villans are great too.

  • bond77!!!

  • Thats the name of the song because it has the sort of 1970's feel to it

  • @plykshow disco lol

  • @plykshow no it's because the spy who loved me was released in 1977.

  • @plykshow My mom has the actual soundtrack on LP.

  • @plykshow actually its the name of the song because it was scored in 1977.they wernt going for a 70s sound but for a contemporary disco sound.

  • the spy who loved me had such great music

  • none of the old bond movies can never be remade but if they ever choose to remake them, the spy who loved me should remain untouched

  • 007 forever!!!
