  • Wonderful!

  • This is one of the most ingenious act of playing the piano that one can ever witness

  • Medtner's op38 forgotten melodies are some of favorite pieces of the 20th century. You can hear why Rachmaninov thought so highly of Medtner. 2:30-3:27 and on are some of the most achingly beautiful passages ever composed, encapsulating exactly what this sonata is about. There is no greater champion of Medtner and other unjustly neglected composers than Hamelin. Bravo!

  • wonderful!

    but it's not negativitly meant,

    they 're the best

  • it's really wonderful!

  • wow wonderful music

  • I made it half way through the piece, until it got too depressing to learn. Still, it's a beautiful, haunting, suspenseful, and ultimately mysterious piece.

  • What do you mean depressing? Your own life became depressing? Why put so much effort into a piece that you already know is going to be this way then say it's too depressing--that's the nature of a lot of music written in minor key. Have you tried uncovering the true feelings of the composer and what he felt when writing it?

  • i think he meant depressing because of the length and difficulty - depressing because its so difficult to pull it off well

  • this piece without a doubt has the best build-up + delivery execution I have ever heard. It slowly becomes more and more intense til finally - BAM - it goes crazy. I love it lol. If it weren't 16 minutes long I would learn it myself.

  • agreed :} but I'm still on it
