Movies are nice, but in reality this horeses has never participated in only one important race outside the USA !

Hello everyone, Home Field Advantage. Sham could not adjust to the Air Pressure, Temperature, Humidity and most Importantly JET LAG. Sham would have annilated secretariat at Santa Anita; Just the way J.O. Tobin devoured seattle slew at Hollywood Park. Something to think about.. AFFIRMED # 1 FOREVER
Big fan of alydar, but like the easy goer - sunday silence rivalry..............affirmed needed alydar as much as alydar needed affirmed to be great. They are forever linked and each have to thank the competition for bringing out the best! Affirmed a champion forever!
Nice Video. Affirmed the last Triple Crown winner. There hasnt been one in over 30 years now.I love horse racing and will be attending the Preakness next week. I like the music in your video too
@carlykaiser There's nothing wrong with Dances With Wolves.... I was thinking that it was fitting for this "other" chestnut that was the last thoroughbred to win the Triple Crown.... and a seemingly graceful and elegant last horse to win. The music goes with that observation (IMO)
Maybe you can answer my question. I know Secretariat passed away in 1989, and Seatle Slew passed away in 2002. But is Affirmed still alive? What a pity, you always heard about Secretariat and Seattle Slew, but I haven't heard that much about Affirmed, what a pity!
I really don"t know, I got out of the southern california scene in the early 90"s.But I do know that Affirmed never had any offspring that could run.Alydar sure did. I was around the Barreras in the 70s and 80s,,They were great people,Laz and my father Hal,were best friends..Those were the days..
@Farrah300 I know you made this reply like 11 months ago, but Affirmed go to live to relatively old age didn't he? I know Secretariat was only like 18 yrs old when they had to put him down,poor baby.

@rodd7 Sham was a good horse but he, nor any other horse, could have touched Secretariat in 1973 even if Santa Anita held a Triple Crown race.
