  • i love it because it sounds true

  • Tone sounds dynamite on that Dano. You've inspired me to want to learn how to play jazz. Thank you.

  • Very nice . What scale is that?

  • Nice, dude. What´s the modes of these scales? Cheers.

  • What a great tone, man!! Great chops too!

  • I loved listening to you play! EXCELLENT and I applaud you. You're amazing!

  • That was pretty awesome. I liked the two parts of the song that you used all the strings with a finger walk up and down. It's hard to find anybody that can play songs that really come to life anymore. Mostly everything is just bland or just ok. But that was pretty good. Keep up the good work and use all the notes as you can and then to make it all come to together throw a couple of chords in it.

  • nice tone from that dano bro!!!!

  • i am in love with this, i love your playing :)

  • Smile Evoking!!

  • @rikoginete ..lol...i dont really hate women.... i enjoy a man v woman type of banter with my partner...laugh at the way women do things...and she laughs at typical bloke things its quite light hearted and fun....... i enjoy your clips though...very good

  • no way do you have a woman in the house....they would not allow a room so cluttered with guitars...in fact i hate women.....

  • Goes to show, it's all about the player, not the guitar, although I own a Danelecto Baratone which is one of my favorites. Perhaps I should put it this way, it wouldn't matter if this guy was playing a Danelectro or a $10K Custom Hollowbody. It would still sound good. Who knows, maybe the Danelectro would sound better.

  • hey luke--what key you playing in here? and what kind of scales are you using--mixolydian, minor blues, etc? sounds great!

  • man. killer tone. working on getting one

  • like your style man..

    fran

  • Is this "Route 66"? Phenomenal playing! I'll hit the Replay button now.

  • We'll have a house party tonight :)

  • id fuckin kill for a guitar like that

  • Hi Luke, what kind of guitars are there in the background.

By the way those danelectro's i love them so much i've got 3 already can't stop buying them, got the same one as you but with select o matic switch :-)

  • @dirtypaper Well, if you still care, that's a double bass in the background.

  • @xloserx4xchristx Thanks, but i mean in the picture not in the music :-D

maybe my question wasn't that good formulated.

  • Ya got that great "semi-hollow" tone the 335 gets. On a DANO! Yeah, man... this one had me bobbin my head, eyes closed and finger snapping. Very Top-Shelf stuff! 5+ stars

  • Great sound here and with the slide and my 57 vids.

  • Fabulous - really enjoy your sound and playing. And what a great vibe from your Dano!

  • what a relief to know that there are people online that can play real music!

    great playing man, great playing.

  • I had the same Dano, same color, only one neck pickup. Bought it new in 1959 in Brockton MA. Had lots of fun with that guitar, but the neck bowed within six years, or so, and traded it for a Gibson acoustic guitar. Never knew they could sound so good. Excellent playing and even better tone.

  • Thanks!

I actually bought this one in Cambridge MA! The store closed last year, unforunately...

  • @lukecyrus so what are you plugged into amp wise ?

  • its nice to see another person who plays danos

  • Yehhhhh....Tasty..!!

  • Do you gig or this a home studio thing?

    Sounds great.

    Great hands.

    Doug in Palm Harbor,Florida

  • YEEEEEEEEEEEEEAH!!

  • What key is this in?

  • F..............................

  • catchy rythm good job bro!!!

  • sei molto bravo..

  • love this...so cool sounding.

  • great playing, musiceeeeeee

  • Tube pickups are so great!

  • This is great. I was looking for a video of Jazz on a Danelectro and this came up. I was playing a Dano and was pondering whether I should buy it as a Jazz guitar. Now I definitely will.

  • awesome jazz! really enjoyed this :)

  • i hope you dont mind if i steal some of your licks.. lol

and this is amazing playing, keep up the great work man!

  • i love how you play simply amazing

  • I'm starting to go thru all your vids.

I like your technique & esp. your spirit. It makes me smile to listen!

    Thanks for posting!

  • just out of curiosity, what kind of recording equipment are you using, specifically the mics and preamp, thanks man, killer tone and playing!

  • Can this guitar handle distortion well? 'Cause the clean tone is AMAZING, but I'd like to have distortion as an option. I might just buy it for its clean tone!

  • nice play, great guitar and best guitarist :) 5* for you ^^

  • wow ! great ! fantastic !

  • dude that's sweet

i've got a dano the same as that

    they rule :)

  • good playing man

and that thing has awesome jazz tone, it's crazy

  • that neck pickup on that Dano is amazing!

  • better than a les paul!

  • i love dano, but i never got the chance to play one, and now i never get to see the reissues at the stores...dunno why.

  • Very entertaining! Nice mix of blues and jazz! It´s gonna be on my blues playlist from now on!

  • All those youtoob shred clowns can kiss my ass! This is what great guitar playing is all about, awesome stuff and so many styles on all your videos keep 'em coming!

  • Great playing!

  • excellent sound and even better playing!

    I want a vintage dano:)

  • That's some clean playing.

  • and your a great player too, like your style and facial expression

    Sick playin'

(go check out my vids !)

  • awesome guitar, I discovered this brand yesterday and I find it's AWESOME

  • Incredible. Who are your influences for this Jazz/Blues style of playing?

This is one of the styles I want to learn how to play!! So far I'm leaning towards a Blues/ Blues-Rock style of playing but would love to get into various other types including the beautiful sound your playing.

  • Go get Kenny Burrell's 'Midnight Blue'. I listened to that one a lot.

  • Oh then I'm all set then since I already heard it a few times:) Beautiful album.

Thanks for the suggestion anyway man, I'll learn from there.")

  • Love your sound and playing. The Danelectro seems to have a nice even sound across all strings and up and down the neck.

  • Aaah - the sound of Masonite! I used to sell these guitars and I would use them to illustrate how an inexpensive guitar into a great amp sounded....great! Of course, it helps that you're playing great as well, Luke!

  • i dont know what i love more, your playing for your facial expressions ;p.... great job!

  • Caramba. As good as I've heard anywhere, and I've listened and played for more than 40 years now.

  • Very nice playing!!! And very nice sounding Dano too, these guitars are all wrong, they're not suppost to work!! hahaha But just listen to them, they just sound right in any kind of musical situation! Great!

  • I tell ya, this Luke Cyrus guy can really play! I always look in to see if he's uploaded anything new. You sure can make that old Dano sing, Luke. Keep on-a-playin'.

  • you can always subscribe to him for it to automatically tell you that...just fyi

  • mesmerizing playing

  • perfect! respect man!

  • I just burnt by guitar! you happy?

  • love this

  • perfect jazz tone!

  • i think it's more bluesy than jazzy, but anyway YOU SOUND GREAT!!!

  • agreed. Very much more blues. Particularly after the drums really kicked in.

  • Very nice! I'm not a jazz guy at all but I really liked that :)

I'm impressed with how responsive that guitar is to your playing. At 0:50 and about 1:07, if I wasn't watching your hands, I would swear you switched pickups. Great stuff. I need to go down the the guitar shop now and take a closer look at the ol' Danos :)

  • Fabulous tone and cool playing A++++++++++++

  • I want a Danelectro!!!! :)))

  • Nice tasteful playing.

  • Do they sell Danelectro in stores in Germany or did you have to order this one on-line?

  • I got that one at a small vintage store in boston, cambridge music. That's my absolute favorite place to find cool guitars...

But I'm sure they have the reissues in german shops.

  • you need to make more jazzz songs

    amazing

  • thats one of the best clean jazz tones i ve ever heard what guitar is that and what amp.

  • I'd say that isn't exactly clean. amazing tone though.

  • i guess a Fender Vibroverb when i take a look at the video description

  • fantastic!

  • Fantastic video. Was that all improvised?

  • Thanks! It was inprovised, yes.

  • This tone ( a tone as good as this ) is hard to find, or maybe it's just the good playing and catchy bass line that is responsible for the good vibes. I'm still going to ask, is the Danelectro going straight to the amp ( in that case, what amp is it going to? ) The tone is just incredible.

  • Hey thanks!

As far as I can remember I went straight into the amp, a Fender Vibroverb.

  • nice. i have a dark purple u-2. im pretty sure its a '56 or '57 and i love it. i got it for 100 bucks because it had some chips and scratches and it plays and sounds great. yous sounds really nice and you play great. nice vid.

  • Das fetzt!!!

  • what do you use for the backup instruments ??

  • Do you mean the backing track? The bass is a loop, I played some guitar over it and added a tamburine. That's it.

  • Great jam.

  • That guitar can do anything!

  • GREAT PLAYING.

I have Black 59 3011 (aka DC), These are the most under-rated guitars ever.

Your guitar is in very nice shape, My 59 is worn, It's been played a lot but not beat up or abused, but the paint is worn off in several places

  • I was talking to my uncles friend and he was telling me how he used his dano for jazz too!

  • Those are huge frets on that Dan-0. Are they stock frets or did you get it refretted?

    Monster swing tone!

  • Thanks!

I never had the guitar refretted, but I'm pretty sure that happened at a certain point, it's had its 51st birthday this year. The frets are a good size, you're right.

  • great as always

    god damn you rule

  • Good - I enjoyed it!
