hey man, jus started playing mandolin after playin guitar for 3 nd hlf years, wondering do your finger get use to the tiny size frets and closeness of strings? thnks man. fucking amazin vid btw hope ill b dat gd 1 day
I play swedish traditional folk music on the mandolin and just discovered jazz and bluegrass.
Just one tip and one question :)
After the second and fourth bar, you tend to make the rest a little too short, affecting the groove, witch overall is very funky! Wait out that rest's full length, and the groove is perfect!
About 0:56 in the video, right after the [5465] grip (if I saw it correctly..), you take another chord. What grip is that?
I have a quick question for you. I've bought a electric guitar and bass and a acoustic guitar and they really didn't appeal to me. my brother said that the mandolin is one of the hardest things to play and one of his friends said that the banjo was easer to play than the mando. How really hard is? I was thinking it wasn't too hard since i did play guitar and bass for a while, but he's still telling me that it's going to be too hard for me what are your views? thanks sorry for the long post
I think the mandolin is easier to learn, but harder to play in some aspects. No more difficult than bass though, other than needing to learn chords. Mandolin for me is the most rewarding instruments I have learned. I say go it!
Thank you for your quick response. I wasn't going to listen to my brother anyway. Well do you know what kind of mando i should get? the music store where i live have a couple i was thinking about getting a Kentucky for 269 or they have a rover for about 99? or should i just order it off line with the one you think i should get?
I really dig it man, I am gonna try and write some accompaniment on guitar!

I like it! My only input would be to pick a little lower on the mandolin, so you don't hit the fretboard. Gonna go watch the rest of your videos now!

You can't go wrong with a heavy Dawg influence. The flow reminds me of Todd Phillips too. Great playing, nice sounding mando.

Thanks for the comment. I think you are referring to the diminished chord.

Do you play Bb or Eb jazz tunes?

I play jazz tunes in just about any key. I usually play them from "Real" Books and create chord solos from there.
