  • Meine liebe heimat!!! Danke fuer dieses wunderbare Video!!! PEACE!!

  • Well made. I especially appreciate the downside as well. Most videos only show the good stuff.

  • Zell am Main has the best icecream, it`s on the other side of the river. It`s not as cheap as in Veitshöchheim, but very delicious and just a few steps from my home. I think I`m one of their best customers ; )

  • I just comeback from there

  • @ mondsocke

    Rimpar?;D

  • DIIIIIRK NOWITZKI!!!

  • Eisstephan is not the best, it's the cheapest Icecream!

  • Würzburg is worldwide famous for it's living prophetess of the Lord: a woman named Gabriele. It is said that she recives revelations from Christ and God about reincarnation, inner path, animals right for life etc. These revelations sometimes are given into public at the seat of the primordial christian community Universelles Leben in Haugering 7 street, near the train station.

  • Wow Germany is so amazing country and I love it.

Check out my traveling channel and watch my videos.

    Thank you guys :-)

  • ahhhh memories....mamas hometown...

  • @jeffdarga1 Because until 1990, Germany was the front line in the Cold War. Since then, the troops have been pulling out, and most US bases have closed down. But it's still useful to have a couple of bases on friendly territory to easily deploy troops to, say, Aghanistan or Iraq. Whether or not you think US involvement there is a good thing, the fact is the US are involved, so bases in Europe make sense. But many German tourists visit the US and spend their money there, so it balances out.

  • In 1975 when I was stationed at Emery Kaserne with the 3rd S+T Battalion,3rd Infantry Brigade I remember taking a tour of the old castle and it was just so beautiful! I used to walk all over the city and just get out of the army barracke which were filled with barracks rats who did not want anything to do with the local germans. Their loss I say, there was nothing wrong with the scenery and all that the city had to offer!

  • @Rizpektable

    I live in kürnach!!

    Itz veeryyyy nice!!!

Itz very funny, that someone comes to kürnach/würzburg to see things, like the residenz^^!!!!!

  • I traveled from Ingolstadt to Würzburg, was very nice.

  • danke fürs video bin ne ganz liebe wer will mehr rausfinden

  • Another great presentation, done with style and compassion. Thank you.

  • Thanks for the tour and for the humor. I'm afraid there is not much one can do about 'the modern' that litters cities everywhere, besides perhaps patronizing good architects. Grüße aus den USA.

  • nice view at the end - and right Würzburg was bombed, good you mentioned that

  • Very nice informative video of Wuerzburg*^-^* The first European city i visited...so beautiful, romantic, marvelous...visited there sometimes afterwards because i just love it. The Mozart festival @ Residenz is stunning and Franken wine is good, too*^-^* Thank you very much for making and sharing this wonderful video*^-^*

  • oh würzburg du schöne stadt,

oh würzburg niemand maccht dich platt !!!

    :-)

  • Uhhh ja, die Eisdiele in Veitsöchheim :D

    die is klasse!

  • I grew up in Wurzburg district...in a small countryside town called Kurnach

  • I grew up in Veitshoechheim

Do you live in the US? I do....

  • yep..I live in the Saint Louis area now

  • I live in the state of Washington

    about 1 hr.from Portland, Oregon

  • Beautiful!

I would like to know if the romantic route starts in Wurzburg, please someone may answer me?

  • Yes, it does.

  • very nice vid!

  • Würzburg rocks.

    I came from Würzburg :)))

  • i will go in holidays to Wurzburg,i can`t wait:) i will visit also other towns near by!I admire very much Germans, especially because I read pretty much about ww2...and I despite russians of course:)

  • your a fool

  • you are a fool:)

  • your a nazi sympathizer

  • no i didn`t say that!it`s just that communism did more crimes that nazism but people do not know about. If you read Gulag Archipelago you will understand what I am saying. From the books I`ve read I realised that Russians were worst than Germans...Russians destroyed absolutely everything in Germany and they raped and treat women very cruel. You could deal with Germans who paid to the farmers. But Russians did only robbery and shot everybody even if they had a white flag in their hand

  • ther live many russians in würzburg xD

  • Thanks. I very much enjoyed this video. I was in Wurzburg many year ago on business and saw many of the sites. However, I did not know what they were until watching your video.

  • Why?

  • Wow really?!! I live in Australia and my big dream is to go over to Germany. What about it don't you like?

  • its all the time the same story i think... my biggest dream is to go over to australia^^ well i have some relatives there. They visited us last year and were very impressed i think.

  • I live in a small country city - Townsville. It's nothing fantastic but the climate is nice compared to some parts of the world. I'm sitting here in a singlet for Winter! Although our Summer does get *very* hot!

    Are you German?

  • @Leonie123xD USA and australia? lolololol

  • Some of the things you say are so funny!!

  • I live near Würzburg *_* (I'm German^^)

    I love going shopping there^^

  • Jerk

  • I miss Wurzburg so much. Beautiful city. I was stationed there for 3 years, and I got married there.

  • Evryone whos visiting Würzburg has to go to the "Nikolaushof" next to "Käppele"! Best view and you can chill with a cocktail in a lounge!

  • I loved near by in Essfeld....I miss it so much!

  • the place to be

  • Great video, although it made me incredibly homesick.

My mum's from Würzburg and I have visited the city several times a year when I was a child. Later on I lived in Würzburg while I was studying and worked as a tour guide in the Residenz, the Festung Marienberg and the palace in Veitshöchheim... I miss Würzburg a lot since I moved to UK 4 years ago...

Thanks for such a great recap of all my favorite spots. And yes, you're right about the architecture... old and new.

  • I'll move to Würzburg within the next weeks :-))

  • i was born in veitshöchheim but now i live in düsseldorf.... :(

    I miss Veitshöchheim

  • Veitshoechheim is very nice!!!

I was also born there, but live in the USA now.

ps: eisstephan has best icecream i know

  • first off: im flattered, as a citizen of veitshochheim and a person who has lived most of his days in wurzburg itself ^^

second: rewboss, were are you from? im just curious ^^

  • I like all your Franken Videos!! I was born in Veitshoechheim, spent lots of FUN times in Wuerzburg. I now live in Washington State USA

(also a wonderful place just totally different...in a good way) Thanks again...

  • i am living in würzburg

  • Thank you so much for the video. We were stationed on Leighton Barracks in Wurzburg from 2004-2006. I really miss that beautiful town.

  • ich wurde born in Würzburg

  • i come from würzburg die geilste stadt ever!!!

  • Beautiful place! greetings from México :)

  • Beautiful......I love this place...been there a lot

    Tut mir leid.

  • heuchelhof and lindleinsmuhle...

    hmmm pass the dutch baby

    lol

  • i wanna go home :(

    -_-

  • Ahhh the rezidenz. x]

    I went to a wedding there. :)

  • Hey!

I come from Würzburg, nice video!

By the way, the dog at the end is mine!

First I could't believe. It was very amusing to find my dog on youtube ;)

  • Haha -- Your dog is a star. :-)

  • Small town, small world! :)

  • glass and concrete nightmare. true. Boxed buildings with boxed windows. They are all the same size. True but that is what happens when you get bombed and you have to rebuild with practically no dmarks.

  • i live right across the street from the Residenz park kapizinerßtrasse 13

  • Hey thanks for making this video!!! I lived here for 3 years and I loved it...I came back home one year ago but I still miss it so bad...Wuerzburg I love you!!!!!

(Time for revelution)

  • my town Würzburg ^o^

    thats cool XP

  • hey i'm from würzburg and i'm also proud of my town

and our main thater is not a nightmare and this "big mirror" (as the speaker called it)is called "whörl" in real

  • i was stationed there for three years... loved it. want to go back really bad...

  • I really enjoy this video! It is informative and well done - and I agree about the "ugly" buildings. Its a shame!

  • "You cant really blame Würzburg for this Buildings, it was heavily bombed during the War..."

Isnt that sarcasm if a Brit tells that?!

  • No, it's a statement of fact: Würzburg was bombed heavily during WW2, and directly after the war the priority was to provide homes and factories for people as quickly as possible.

  • Actually just after the war, the most buildings were rebuild NICE - but now, they make more "damages" then the war... :(

  • A very nice and interesiting video!

I live in a small town near Würzburg and I had a lot to laugh when I heard you talking about the really ugly post-war-buildings. You are so right!

By the way: The ice-cream in Veitshöchheim is not the best in the region but the cheapest you can get and it is tasty, too ;)

  • our nice germany

    awesome

not all these modern cities like frankfurt and berlin

    yeah veitsöcheim

  • Veitsbach ROCKS!!!!

  • Excellently done! I teach German and was looking for a short video to introduce students to Wuerzburg and this one worked perfectly. I'll be looking for others from you!

  • Great video, it brings memories of my time as a student there ... even though I never saw any of those monuments from the inside...

You forgot the American "Kaserne" :-)

    thanks

  • my boyfriend is in wuerzburg for two weeks...i see that it is a quiet city...i miss him so much....i hope that he will return in italy as soon as possible ;-)

  • scheeee da komm ich ja her =)

  • Your critique of the "ugly" post-war buildings is not justified. Or, let us says: it is the tone which is wrong. I agree that every building must appear "ugly" in comparison with the Würzburg Residenz. But you should accept that all what you can find in an old city like this is a product of history, sometimes glorious, sometimes aweful. I suppose that you came from farer than just "a stonethrow" to see all that crappy Würzburg architecture.

  • very good and informative video! i enjoyed watching it.

    i'm a würzburger myself.

in fact you forgot our main station...

  • Main Franken Theater is not that bad. Lets not exagerate!

  • This! is! Franken!! (Franconia)

    Not Bavaria!

Bavaria only on paper, but not real.

  • The title indicates which (modern) province Würzburg is in, and that is Bavaria whether you like it or not; and it has been since 1814. Both Bavaria and Franconia have existed only on paper as abstract geo-political regions: in the 10th century Franconia extended from Schweinfurt to Koblenz and was very different from modern Franconia.

For the record, Würzburg is the capital of Lower Franconia, which is a region in Bavaria.

  • In fact youre right, but once there was a big discusion in würzburg if people think that's good that franconia belongs to bavaria an the most said no!

  • you've forgotten the most uninspired post-war-style-building...our beautiful main station

  • That truly is a masterpiece, especially the authentic post-war dirt in the access tunnel. Maybe I should do a series on "truly awful railway stations of Germany". I'd start with Würzburg, Hanau and Merseburg.

  • Very nice video. I studied in Wuerzburg for 3 years.

  • Thanks! After i saw your video, i know much more about the city i live in.

I learned it all in school... but i forgot.

    Thank you for fresh up!!

  • also...i came from würzburg...germany i live here at 3 years ..it´s to funny here the people where are here lives are ganstars sex drugs and rockn roll ...

    pizz susiii

  • I really enjoyed listening to this video (and most of your others as well) especially because you are very informative and have a great narrating voice. However I think you we're a tad harsh on the architects of the city especially when building a new building and trying to make it look baroque would be extremely pricey and sometimes unwanted. But please don't take this as criticism, I was merely making an observation.

  • Well, it *was* a criticism, but I have no problem with that and I welcome any constructive criticism. You raise a valid and reasonable point.

My response would be: It doesn't have to be baroque, but I do feel that a little more care with scale, proportions, alignment of windows and so on might have been in order here.

Feel free to disagree with me. :-)

  • Good work Rewboss! I enjoyed that!

  • Why can't we get this kind of show on TV? You have a very effective voice for this kind of presentation. I'll watch all you put on. Thanks. Your part of the world is so rich with history I envy you.

  • OK, I'm blushing. :-)

History is where you find it. The US has lots of exciting history, it's just that it doesn't go back far in time. Native American history is worth consideration, too. And don't forget scenery: The Grand Canyon, Niagara Falls, the Rockies...

I love my part of the world, and I enjoy sharing it. But everywhere is fascinating.

  • I first learned of the difference between America and Europe in 1960 when I was assigned to a serve (in the military) with a British unit in the Paderborn area. The British unit had existed for 400 years, twice the "age " of my country. Quite a cultural shock for me.
