  • Anybody still using the old Kleinschmidt machines? Or am I showing my age!

  • @Wa3ypx You may find some of the guys using the machines for general QSOs. Machines are way to slow to use for contests.

  • @K7AGE Ahhh QSL. Boy those machines where impressive

  • well that some hum you got there, have you an amp and your own power station .. jeff

  • Hello

may I ask how that is the program you use

    73 from Austria

  • @2000conan Writelog and MMTTY engine works great. Many of the guys now use N1MM, as it is free.

  • great to see how a radio station, also on HF antennas in order to modulate from 160 meters to 10 meters and 6 meters. I have recently entered this wonderful world of radio, but I have little ability to pay but really want to do. I wish I could make the contest with America and around the world chgiedo information to you that you are a pilot of the frequencies that make antenna to make a one-off fee and you are in attendance. Greetings from Trieste, Italy Fulvio 73 IV3CDB

  • corrected that, it seemed to have resolved the issue :)

  • i found out that the radios shift setting was not synced with the software, but once i

  • i wanted to follow up on our previous - regarding the question i had about my RTTY problem with the 746. I think i figured out what was wrong. There are two or three shift options in RTTY mode, and after doing a little switching using the sidetone

  • Lots of fun to watch and also fun to have mmtty open and receive the signal from the video audio. I hope to try one of these contests once I get on the air in a month or so.

I second the motion for rtty beginner videos since this is new to me too. Thanks for all the great ones you have posted, I am slowly working through them all.

  • When you are using RTTY, you have your TS 2000 in "RRTY Mode", vs LSB/USB ?

  • @ilovenbcnews I use The RTTY mode using FSK keying.

  • The reason why i ask this, is because when i am using my sound card interface, i have a couple, the signal link and a Donner digital interface - if i use either one, and have the ICOM 746, (MK 1) in RTTY mode i only am able to transmit an idle tone. However if I switch to SSB the software , be it MMTTY , or Hamscope will send the needed tones. Wonder if you might have some insight . thanks.

  • @ilovenbcnews Hi, I bet that when you are in RTTY mode, the radio expects you to use the FSK input. This requires a mar/space logic signal from the computer to the radio. This is not an audio signal. Change the radio to the same mode that you use for PSK, and it will probably work.

  • i hope entered as multi op not single operater as no spotting is allowed ,,,,

  • Wow!

  • Great Video. I've only recently started to experiment with digital modes including working PSK this last Field Day. If all goes according to plan I will be working RTTY some this weekend for the CQ World Wide RTTY contest.

  • Randy,

W7DMV here would you make some videos for a beginner in RTTY i want to do it but could use some help from some videos on RTTY .

    73

  • Sounds like a good idea. I'll put it on my list. I have no idea when I'll get to it. Randy

  • So randy W7LHT here I am wondering what programs exactly you are using I know you say you are using MMTTY and WriteLog but I want to know what all you are using for this video

  • Just those two. Writelog is the main program and it used the MMTTY plugin for the RTTY decoding and encoding. Randy

  • That hum when you transmit is that your amp?

  • Yes, that is Henry in the background humming out the watts. Henry is no longer with me. He has been replaced by an AL-82.

  • Randy, you've got the best ham videos on YouTube! I like your laid-back style and the detail you show, even my non-ham friends enjoy watching your shows! George W0XS

  • Hey Randy,, this stuff is so awsome,, i love it.. I messed around with mmtty a few years ago and just started again.. but i only have sw1 and sw2 and a Pro-46 hand scanner for receiving. Can i atleast pick up some weather data using SeaTTY or can i pick up anything using MMtty with what i have for receivers?

    Thanks in Advance

  • I don't know what RTTY services there might be outside of ham bands for weather or news. You may have to google around to find out what signals are available. Randy

  • thanks randy

  • K7AGE,K7AGE, this is the BBQHAMSHACK.Come back? Hw you doin', Randy? Nice shack & 73s. Is that QSL ? QSY to 70CM 448.975 in colorado.

  • what do u mean not very good dx

  • I can hear that Henry humming in your youtube audio.

Very cool Randy. Keep it up.

  • did every one know how i can use an "Siemens T 1000" for RTTY??

    73 de DO1PPS

  • Join the OH2BH club, dude. They also are only able to get an erection by seeing themselves on video, nowadays...

  • I Like RTTY CU CONTEST Thanks ! Bun

  • Glad to hear that I have lit your radio spark. MMTTY will take a bit to get it set. There is a good MMTTY yahoo group. Randy

  • Do you run the Rigblaster Pro? I noticed something there on your rig. Is this all that is needed to work HF packet? Is there any reason to get a TNC like a Kantronics when I could get the Rigblaster?

  • Hi Randy!

Looks good. Keep continue. Very interesting. Also will be interesting to see your QTH around (property, village, ppl).

  • My first video is a tour of the shack and antennas. Poke around in my list of videos to find it.

  • This stuff is so cool. I always wanted to get into HAM radio. I'm 57 and still might. Any good sources for an engineering type wanting to start in the hobby? Rtty seems pretty interesting.

  • Thanks, now that the FCC is about to drop the morse code, you should be able to get your license! Randy

  • You think that's interesting, try taking a slow boat and working CW. I really enjoy it.

  • What are the regulations about re-transmitting a QSO on YouTube? I really enjoy seeing you QRV, but I wonder what the ramifications of this are.

  • Don't think there are any. M3MSU

  • Why should there be any?

There is no expectation of privacy on the ham bands and no issue making recordings, etc.

It isn't being "re-transmitted" in any FCC sense, so... what could be the issue?

  • I don't think there is an issue, and my quesion has been answered. Thanks. 73

  • If you have MMTTY on your computer, you can change the audio input from Line to Mix (or try other sound card settings) and you can copy some of the RTTY signals when I am not talking.

    Randy
