I don't think it's necessarily true that men get more praise for art than women. I'm open to being proven wrong of course. You could say, for example, that male majority bands get more praise than female majority bands but there are more male majority bands so it isn't a fair comparison.
@TheSorrow1O1 Lee Krasner and Jackson Pollock - she had to put so much energy in taking care of her alcoholic husband instead of her art. A lot of things Pollock did, and is praised for today, Krasner did before, or in collaboration with him. The male genius I was thinking of is allowed being a bully and leading a "decadent" life without ever being criticized for this- he's creating great art, let him be! A woman behaving like that is not a genius, she's hysteric. I do agree with the band thing.
A lot of people on you tube will say this person or that person is a genius. I usually translate "genius" into this person or that person really likes what they do. That's the key to great art....loving what you do not raw intellect.
Eno was his best in the 70's when musical experimentation was appreciated.
These days people just want aggression in their music.
