Hey men... my D40x died too... it is a amazing camera...

luckily i had 5 days left on an extended warranty from J&R... they replaced the shutter at no charge!

I had just bought a SB900 Flash....which I had to return right away for a D5000 body....the d40x took 3 weeks for them to get back to me. It became my back up camera. Since then I have traded in the D5000 for the D5100. I recommend EXTENDED WARRANTY EVERYTIME!

I feel your pain man, I Just had the same thing happen to my D40x and it's such a great camera. Hope all is going well with your photography!

Dang this is scary. I'm shooting a wedding with mines tomorrow and its the only body I have. Hope it doesn't die on me.
