I grew up in a catholic church I'm sorry to say its not a good church to be in. They don't really discuss any from the bible or read out loud. The teen service or class are just the same. But if you have a good heart and avoid sexual sin and love God Jesus and the holy spirit and have faith guess you would be ok. Wish I had someone to teach me about prayer worship reading the bible and repentance. So he I am counting only on Gods mercy.

@88momart there is nothing wrong with "repetitious rote words". In fact that is the most simple form of prayer. true prayer starts from the mouth. Eventually your mind concentrates and understands what your mouth is saying. Once your mind understands then your entire body feels your prayer. The prayer takes over the body and eventually comes from your heart even if its "repetitious rote words" or not. Be patient and keep praying, you'll eventually feel it.

The Latin Mass was one of a kind, distinguishing it from all other Christian denominations. However, it pushed many Catholics away because they felt left out of the Mass. Many clergy and religious are not even taught Latin today. Agreeably a shame to let such a beautiful language go. Guess it's just not useful.
I made such a comment because I am a Protestant. I go to a Lutheran church to worship and our two pastors are always dressed in holy, traditional robes.

These are all not uncommon in the Roman Catholic Church. It depends on the Diocese and the Priest to determine what is used. I minister Eucharist in secular clothing in New York. The Diocese of Philadelphia uses Albs. Much of this changed with Vatican II. The Trindentine/Latin Rite is Vatican I.

I can almost agree with you. It's a pity that they have to put "entertainment" in the Mass. Where has our traditional, truly reverent Mass gone? The Mass is not about us, it's about God and Jesus. BUT it does have all the components of a valid Mass.
For it to be valid, it must conatin ALL THREE.of these.FORM, MATTER and INTENTION. A priest here who celebrates the new mass told me he was asked to say mass elsewhere in the diocese and the "nuns" there told him they wanted him to use the hosts they made. He said he brought his own, and they were upset. Later on he found out they used margarine & baking powder. THAT IS WRONG "MATTER".therefore the people there are not receiving Our Lord!! Eventually you would want to do it. and how would you feel if you couldn't marry them, just because you are both the same gender.

I grew up in a catholic church I'm sorry to say its not a good church to be in. They don't really discuss any from the bible or read out loud. The teen service or class are just the same. But if you have a good heart and avoid sexual sin and love God Jesus and the holy spirit and have faith guess you would be ok. Wish I had someone to teach me about prayer worship reading the bible and repentance. So he I am counting only on Gods mercy.

@88momart there is nothing wrong with "repetitious rote words". In fact that is the most simple form of prayer. true prayer starts from the mouth. Eventually your mind concentrates and understands what your mouth is saying. Once your mind understands then your entire body feels your prayer. The prayer takes over the body and eventually comes from your heart even if its "repetitious rote words" or not. Be patient and keep praying, you'll eventually feel it.

The Latin Mass was one of a kind, distinguishing it from all other Christian denominations. However, it pushed many Catholics away because they felt left out of the Mass. Many clergy and religious are not even taught Latin today. Agreeably a shame to let such a beautiful language go. Guess it's just not useful.

These are all not uncommon in the Roman Catholic Church. It depends on the Diocese and the Priest to determine what is used. I minister Eucharist in secular clothing in New York. The Diocese of Philadelphia uses Albs. Much of this changed with Vatican II. The Trindentine/Latin Rite is Vatican I.

Nice verse use there but I believe we must examine the use of themin perspective Matthew 23:1,9 says to call no man father I assume you are taking that in the literal sense and if you were to go all the way with that verse you could not even call your own father a father. If this verse were to be taken in that literal sense then why would the Apostle Paul liken himself in 1 Cor 4:15 to a father??

The scriptures you refer to about make no graven images refers to idols and placing your faith in something or someone that does not exist. God himself instructed that there be two cherubim placed on the ark of the covenant in Exodus 25:18, and

if the commandments were to bee taken literal God would not have said this, since this would be contradictory

i understand scripture very well. God tells MOSES to make the bronze snake because of sickness BEFORE the commandment was laid out. GOD NEVER tells us to make a pagan cross in the name of Jesus Christ. The commandment is to NOT EVEN MAKE graven images. so humans take one scripture and use it to their man made tradition to make the cross? man dominate man to his destruction. or did you not know that? because i dont understand scripture like you say.

this is the first part of the commandment. it says nothing about worshipping the idol/graven image. it says not to even make them. then the 2nd part reads You must not bow down to them nor be induced to serve them, because I am a God exacting exclusive devotion......"

saints or crosses or pictures of saints are meaningless objects, not idols, because they only serve to represent a real person of inspiration. If you take them away you have not take away what they represent or who they represent. Idols are made in the image of something that has never exsisted and so if you take that idol away or destroy it

the memory ceases to exist. Matthew 6:7 is talking about those that were praying to be seen of men if you read down to verse 9 Jesus teaches us to pray the our father. Which many christians even protestants know and recite are they guilty of babbeling as well? As a catholic we do not go as you suggest in your statement about Matthew 6:6 to a confession to pray. @bontio let me ask you this my friend. if your best friend was killed by a hit and run and you caught a picture of it. would you want to keep that picture to remind you that he died? so why do we have Jesus on a " cross" all over? to "remind" us that he died for our sins? is it not enough to keep him in our hearts and read the bible to remind us? the hebrew word " stauros" is used which means stake, tree, post. never NOT ONCE in the greek/hebrew scriptures does cross come into play.

King Herod told the wise men to go find Jesus so he could KILL HIM. the star that led the wise men to Jesus COULDNT have been a good "star" rather it was satan leading them to Jesus so that they could go back and tell King Herod where Jesus was. I can almost agree with you. It's a pity that they have to put "entertainment" in the Mass. Where has our traditional, truly reverent Mass gone? The Mass is not about us, it's about God and Jesus. BUT it does have all the components of a valid Mass.

For it to be valid, it must conatin ALL THREE.of these.FORM, MATTER and INTENTION. A priest here who celebrates the new mass told me he was asked to say mass elsewhere in the diocese and the "nuns" there told him they wanted him to use the hosts they made. He said he brought his own, and they were upset. Later on he found out they used margarine & baking powder. THAT IS WRONG "MATTER".therefore the people there are not receiving Our Lord!! I had a very similar experience myself. Lord have mercy

But, yes, another "but" :) ... We can't say that *this* Mass wasn't valid. I guess we can say that this Mass *seems* valid from what was said.
As for invalid Masses, it's said that the clergy(sisters?) will pay a worse price for leading His lambs astray.
It's a good thing that the parishioners are not held accountable for unknowingly not attending an invalid Mass. PS: I hope the Bishop was informed about this terrible thing!

This is why Mnay attend the Latin mass now, there are too many abuses going on in the new masses and if you do not know the mass well enough,,the Rubrics..people wouldn't even know if it is valid or not. I and many others can give numerous examples of abuses we have witnessed to, such as communion in the hand and people walking out with the host. And much much more that makes to sick to even talk about. And the people MUST KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON!

THe guitars are really bad--guitars are a thing of the past--the abuses of the Novus Ordo. I think Mr. Paul is obsessed with artifacts and cosmetic trappings--he wants all Catholic churches to look like Southern Baptist temples. PreMarital sex is sinful, you are right, it is immoral, and could lead to STD's, or an unwanted pregnancy, that could result in abortion. But being gay and acting on it, should not even be thought of as a sin. Believe it or not, gays can be religious. And how would you feel if you did not believe in premarital sex, and you found your true love. Eventually you would want to do it. and how would you feel if you couldn't marry them, just because you are both the same gender.
