@jls0037 Its an acertion either way, maybe this or that, nothing is really sure as I read. But he might have remembered that St.Paul was stoned first in his apostolate (acts of the apostles) and left to die when archbishop preached. St. Paul might even had died there, and ressurected when the disciples of Christ camed to him who knows. I still go with the usual beheaded at this point.
@dotto35 - Father Corapi is very good. So is Father George Rutler who starts all his programs on EWTN with 'Friends..." No doubt a tribute to the late great Bishop Sheen.
23And the city has no need of sun or moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and its lamp is the Lamb. 24By its light will the nations walk, and the kings of the earth will bring their glory into it, 25and its gates will never be shut by day—and there will be no night there. 26They will bring into it the glory and the honor of the nations. 27But nothing unclean will ever enter it, nor anyone who does what is detestable or false...
Bishop Sheen was a humble servant of the Lord. He once said, don't say Bishop Sheen is so great. He said he is only a poor instrument of the Lord. May he be cannonized a saint.
Another thought...In regards to the last comment. I do not recall Bishop Sheen really suffered any great illness or anything. What suffering are you referring to?
This is because Christs Kingdom is not here. Even the Apostles all suffered greatly! We gain Grace that way. Somehow strange as it seems......Somehow To suffer is to be Christ Like. And a way God shows us he Loves us.
2.spectators of pain (and in pain): the 2 men crucified on each side of Jesus: the one on the left wanted to be taken down, the one on the right wanted to be taken "up." The left man: "if you are the Son of God save yourself and save us". the man on the right had a change of heart: "remember me when you come into your Kingdom." the Lord replied "this day thou shalt be with me in Paradise." Reflecting back, Sheen realizes he has never received the punishment he deserved; God has been easy on him.
People are already saints through faith alone in Jesus Christ.

Jesus answered and said to him, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God." JOHN 3:3

Bishop Sheen was such a great orator and teacher.
By the way, he was suffering for his last few years on earth--this video here masks the pain he was in.

Thank God that Bishop Sheen's work is on tape. He was the best. I now admire Fr. john corapi, a priest in the footsteps of Sheen. +JMJ+

His "suffering over many years" seems to me tobe something specific. Any insights?
