@MedievalJester dude, large african tigers have been known to attack and injure/scare away bull elephants, elephants have a know fear of large cats such as tigers and lions.

tigers can and do bring down much larger prey, some even hunt bears which are much bigger and just as deadly, plus there is a video on youtube showing a male tiger eating a bull gaur it killed and it drags its carcass around too. Tigers are strong enough to take on large prey.

@killaguy555 African tigers? an adult African/Asian elephant fears no land animal in this world. Tigers might bring down large pray by sneaking and attacking from behind, but face to face an adult gaur or say a Spanish bull is too much for a single tiger. Also I have yet too see actual footage of a tiger bringing down an adult gaur. Tigers are strong indeed but nothing compare to the strength of a bull or gaur.

@MedievalJester You don't understand what i mean! Yes tigers may sneak up on animals thats what makes them so deadly! Their one of the best ambush predators in the world, and its not down to pure strength its the effectiveness of the tiger and the way it kills animals that makes it so strong. And yes even african elephants fear tigers it has been shown for then to actively avoid encounters with them and be chased off by a lone tiger. I think your underestimating the power of a tiger my friend.

because from front they risk being seen. a hungry animal is always going to go the route of not being seen versus going from ahead, as the chance of a successful hunt greatly drops. also, this tiger doesn't seem to be new at this. these are domesticated cattle, and it's a big tiger- looks nearly as large as the cow. it may have taken some time, but this kill was easy for the tiger.
