@corbinnunnally: Ran out of characters. Add (3.0Mbps) to my last post. This, again, is if you have shot in widescreen. If you have shot in 4:3, then I suppose you would use Windows Media DVD Quality (3.0Mbps) instead. Good luck and let me know what you come up with.

Two that have come close is PowerDirector 6 and up, where you put the mod onto the timeline, click on the publish button, and you get choices of formats to pick. Same with Windows Movie Maker 6. Put the video onto the timeline, and click on Publish to: This Computer. Give it a name, save it to your desktop, then choose More Settings, and try DV-AVI, or since I shoot widescreen, Windows Media DVD Widescreen Quality

@corbinnunnally If you are using Windows Movie Maker 6, have you published the footage in order to switch it into a wmv? It drops mbps like crazy, but it is useful. Try some test footage and see how they compare with this conversion. I had to do it like this when my PowerDirector 7 went on the fritz. I have version 8 now and no problem.

Hey that .MOD was a "pain in the ass" for me for a long time, but i found an alternative (you'll HAVE TO use the software provided to get the videos to the PC):Download SDCopy (google search it) it converts the vid from .MOD to any format you want in a flash...like 2 seconds...try it it works...(oh, and it took me like 2-3 days to convert the .MOD format with the software provided)

its not bad for concerts...you do get some distortion with the microphone if too close to a speaker. i've been using it for 7 months now, cant really complain considering it's my 1st video cam. i've definitely gotten some use out of it at some shows. i have some vids posted...i always have it at the highest setting for video quality.

The included software probably isn't very good. You might want to try using a different program that you might already know how to use. (ex: Movie Maker)

A firewire cable transfers data a lot faster than USB, thats the only difference, thats why most camcorders use firewire in case you record giggs and giggs of video.

A couple of Qs 1. can you put into Windows Movie Maker 2. When you eport does everything get deleted 3. how do you delete every thing because i make short films and im not gonna want to keep them on the camera so how do you delete every thing on it?

Yes you can put it in to Windows Movie Maker and I have a how to video for that. Mine is not set to delete when exported, but there is a way to clear the hard drive all at once.

The Enverio looks like it's gonna be my first camcorder. It has been recommended to me to use Pennacle Studio 12 for editing. What do you think? Is the *.mod format compatible with using other vendor's software.

I will be needing lots of special effects as my primary use will be commercial. Do you have any other ideas for video editing with some degree of sophistication?

I am not sure about Pennacle Studio 12 and whether or not it works with a .MOD format. I have used Cyberlink PowerProducer 7 and it works great, but for special effects I am not so sure of PowerProducer, I will take a look at Pinnacle and see what I can figure out from their website.

Well I would think the Microphone quality would be apparent based on my other videos, since they are filmed on the camcorder. There are probably other things I have missed other than mic level, but all you have to do is ask. Since you seem to be so passionate about it, even though you didn't ask I will make a video letting others know.

Haha, no the lightbulbs go in your household light fixtures. The Daylight bulbs allow for the best lighting in the video when inside.

Good review! I got the MG230 for Christmas and it's a really nice camcorder. I am guessing that the differences between the two are the zoom, the light and the remote (the 230 doesn't have a light or a remote). I will need to take some time to learn the software though. I know the picture quality isn't the best on the camera; however, I do love some of the features on the camera such as the countdown on the LCD screen when you put it into 10 second delay mode, so when you get in the pic too, you can know exactly when it will take the picture and be ready instead of smiling like a goof for several seconds.

The 2 second delay is also good to keep from blurring the pic by hand shaking as you hit the button.

The price has gone down since I got mine. With the holiday season the price has dropped quite a bit. A 1g card will hold probably 13-14 minutes of the highest quality video.

No, the R on the end denotes the color. Mine is the red one so I have the R on the end of my model number.

Yeah, I believe that they call it a hybrid because it uses a platter hard drive for its main storage, but you can also add in your own flash memory with a port on the bottom to expand it.

Both are exactly the same except that the MG-360 has a 60gb hard drive where the 330 has a 30gb hard drive. Unless you are recording a ton of video, you probably don't need the 60gb one, but that is really dependent on your situation.

It records in a .MOD format which is a variation of the MPEG-2 format. A lot of consumer editors don't support the format. I use CyberLink Power Director and it works great. I looked at the other two and Pinnacle might work, it lists MPEG-2, but does not list the .MOD variation so I can't say for sure. If you want to use the software you listed you can use a converter and then edit, but that is extra work and some quality is lost. Hope this helps, and let me know if you have any more questions.

You can do it two ways. You can browse through the camcorder like it is a portable hard drive, or you can do what I do and use PowerCinema that comes with the camcorder. With that you can copy, backup, view, burn a dvd ect... with the videos. If you want to do some editing then you use the bundled Power Producer.

You have to convert them with Power Producer to a format that YouTube will accept. It takes a little bit of work, but I add titles so it is worth it for me.
