I like this video, its so true :D I'm german and I'm punctual like a swiss cuckoo clock running 10 minutes too early. I'm too punctual but I can't change it. :D And I hate workmens for this timeranges and I don't care for their reasons. Not that I must get up early and stuck all day in my house also I can't do anything but to wait - and I hate waiting! Its unpolite -.-
I m german and i like to be in time! Which means not to late and not to early also!
If Im delayed more than 10 min I give a call to inform my appointment. To me thats polite. And also gives me a good feeling somehow! crazy but german :)
What's wrong with punctuality? Maybe I should move to Germany. I hate waiting for buses. Sometimes I will go to the bus stop a full hour ahead of schedule, and take an earlier bus. Because I know the bus, I would normally need to take, can't be trusted. I guess waiting for workmen is an unfortunate universal problem and there is no real solution. Even in Germany. Pity that.
You know the funniest things are the ones that are true. I have been living in Germany long enough to get a really good laugh at this one because its true!!! :-)). Next you should do one on the German nicities, like all the people in the waiting room at the doctor's office saying 'Guten Tag' to you (or in the lift) but not those same people at the pharmacy or backery. Or how about one on the German skill of ditching in the queue....They are world champions in that one
on the other Hand companys and workmen choose these wide timeranges to be on the save side...
Everybody feels offended by this practice of the workmen business.
We don't date like twelfish or tenish...that is just inpracticable to the max...I wonder how anglo-saxons are able to do anything this way, except of waiting all day for everybody...
I'm pretty sure that it is offensive in nearly all countries to break your word let people wait.
@TremereTT But I have to wait anyway. Half a day I can't arrange any appointments. I have to get up early in the morning and I can't leave the house until mid-afternoon. "Between 6.30 and 2" is ridiculous. "Between 12 and 2" would be possible, surely? And if something unexpected happens, well, that's why we have telephones.
There's a good reason why no workmen can say exactly what time they will arrive - they have other jobs on before you and too often they take longer than expected with these earlier jobs. eg if a plumber was going to change a washer in your tap - it may turn out that the tap top is completely stuck which turns a planned 10 min job into a 40 min job!
I like the use of the phrase,"normal countries"! lol
@TheWelly888 Yes, but "between 6.30 and 2"? How many jobs do they have scheduled before 6am? And if they are running late, why can't they phone? I mean, I have things to do as well.
*hihi* that is so truth ... I am german and I *gahr* reeeally struggle whit this "punctuality system" from 10 Situations to be, at point, I am ... Once maybe 1half XD ... I must be made to be a workman workwoman ... or there is something else then german in my gene pool ;o) ... very like this kinda Vids please more !
If we germans are obsessed with punctuality... how can you even describe our neighbours from Switzerland? ^^
But I know more then enough examples of peoples who are no workers and nevertheless never on time. But our first internet provider (freenet) took the cake. 8 month (!) after the date we should have gotten our connection we were still offline... and changed our provider.
Well, being Germany myself I can only confirm our "obsession" with punctuality (obsession in quotation marks because I certainly don’t think it exceptional). We just can’t accept buses being 10 minutes late, because what is the whole point of drawing up a timetable in the first place if it isn’t being adhered to anyway?
I really like your videos btw, you’ve got a great sense of humor (the one we Germans tend to lack)
Sounds like a business opportunity -- start a plumbing company that shows up on time at a specific time. With the Germans you describe -- you'd make a fortune.
Another common phrase: On "insert date" your telephone/internet line will be migrated/installed, a technician of "insert provider name" will require access to the connection between 8am and 4pm to execute all necessary tasks...
Einfach mal nach "zwischen 8 und 16 techniker" suchen. :D
the second part is a hundret percent correct... but i'm a german and i guess i'm even more chilled than any weedhead you can find^^ i'm always the last! xD

I think workmen the world over must be like this. Their time is inestimably valuable but yours is hardly worth mentioning.

0:40-1:00 just tells me: You need more good books to read while waiting xD
As a German I don't really care if busses etc. are late as long as I've got enough to read ;)
