  • Wow it blows me away how much better this version of this song is. Also pretty sure the later version was changed again from "the revolution left me blind" to "the revolution was a lie". Wish Tom had never rewritten any of the parts. It's the one song on White Crosses I skip.

  • look at how little energy there is at the shows now compared the the RAR days

  • @SpiderShane1 I was there, and my God it was a painful experience. SO much energy in the crowd. This was the first time they had ever played this song, so no one knew it. During Cliche or RAR people were exploding

  • take the microphone away from the bassist...NOW!!!

  • Hey just noticed Warren is drumming, I wonder how many of the new songs he has drummed for or if he came up with any of the drumming.

  • ok does anyone know where i can download this song?? itunes doesnt work on my computer and i cant find it anywhere else?? helpppp!

  • @IlOvMcR521 The Pirate Bay

  • i miss warren, but im glad they got george from hot water music, they are both amazing drummers in my opinion

  • This is directed to all of who are complaining that Against Me! has sold out. You're parents aren't gonna support you forever(pay for your 'pseudo' punk attire, your cell phone bills, your records, oops, I mean cd's...you get my drift). They're doing the same thing they've always done, they've just polished it.

  • @Matin43 Haha, but wait they don't even pay for CD's! It's a shame.

  • this really does kick the shit out of the album version... not that I hate the album version at all.

  • @ModernAggression

you read my mind. this new main-stream shit makes me sick. and yea, this is a fucking slap in my face. it makes me so sad to know that this good band have turned into crap.

  • this is awful

  • which ever version i don't care this song kicks ass but his voice definitely sounds better live

  • Sounds so much better with Warren!

  • AWWFFFFFUUUUULLLLLLLLLLLL

  • The perfect anti-obama socialist movement song!!!

  • @mm3mm3 how does this comment make sense at all?

  • This version is 100 times better than the radio version! I still hate the generic lyrics though.

  • yeah!

  • for the last couple of albums these guys have gradually sucked more and more and now theyve pretty much sold out.

  • I love this version, it made me exited to buy the album and everythnig, but then I heard the studio version and few other songs from white crosses, and went and bought As the Enternal Cowboy instead

  • i feel like they were trying too hard on the lyrics...personally.

and i only dont like against me for the sake that 3 years of my life was surrounded by obsessed fans who always played it over and over and over and over again...

    just fed up is all.

  • check out the album version on my profile if you want

  • this is the first song thats made me consider anarchy :3~

  • Honestly its not bad, and this is coming from a huge fan of old AM (even have the self titled 12" given to me by tom), just glad he can atleast admit he isn't an anarchist anymore. honestly even though i like anarchy every one knows it never could actually work, in a perfect world yes, but due to human nature no

  • different does not equal bad. old AM=awesome, new AM=awesome

  • HYPOCRITES!!!!!

  • Does anyone know where i can listen to the album version of this song?

  • @acmav289 don't man its trash all of this and new wave don't waste your time

  • I loved New Wave...of course it wasn't classic folk punk but it was great alternative folk punk...if that's even a genre..

  • I don't see how he can write this when they've been adding What We Worked For and Burn Burn Burn to alot of their recent sets.

  • that's fucking good though.

  • Of course they're not the as good as they used to be, they don't want to set the world on fire, and for a politically aggressive band, like the one they used to be, that is necessity, but they lost it, so their new stuff has lost me.

  • this version is a hundred times better than the one that'll be on the record. And it's not even just how they've become over-produced either. Something as simple as changing the chord progression in the chorus has ruined the song in my opinion.

...they're not terrible, but they sure ain't the same as they used to be.

  • @testifytothis They changed the chorus entirely.

Like without changing it. It's hard to explain.

I can't sing along to the album version...

  • @siganddax

You can´t sing along to the album chorus? I like it better than this one. But that´s just like...my opinion, man.

  • @testifytothis yah, the one on the record has a lil more pop flavor on it...song is still solid, but in the live form is rocks.

  • @testifytothis I KNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!! WTFFFFFFFFFFF!!!!!!!! Like, it's so annoying to see that they DO still have the talent! But they're just USING it! The album version is waaaaaay too overproduced, too long, so artificial.... Most of the album is that way! But you still have some songs like Rapid Decompression AND this, which you can easily see being AS good as their other stuff! We were all calling Against Me! The future of Punk.... And then White Crosses comes out....

  • @watuchie They don't want to be the future of anything. I wouldn't put expectations on guys who are just having a good time and getting paid for it. Either love it, or leave it alone.

  • @dtest13 LoL, holy hell.. I just realised how fucking whiny my other message sounded.. xD Mehhh, I don't care anymore.... As you said, love it! Or leave it! And I'm NEVER leaving Against Me! =))

  • @testifytothis fuck this version is way better, album version definitely lacks balls

  • @testifytothis i feel this version has more grit to it and so it has a better punkier feel to it

  • @testifytothis

Sorry... don't agree. The studio ver is the same, just more polished.

  • I think what has happened to Against me is the same thing that happens to a lot of great bands that have something to say; Bob Dylan was hated for plugging in. what many forget or ignore is that their message is still there, these bands are just able to reach more people. Nobody hates on Anti_flag and their signed to sony, just as rise against is on a major and lets not forget RATM!

  • um, people of integrity and/or taste dont even consider anti flag. and rise against...were always kinda corny. we just let them go to the other side without much of a fight

  • People criticize all of those bands, for precisely that reason.

  • ...and I was a middle aged sellout?

interesting that he wrote this song, i'm not against their change, but i really miss their passionate anarchist lyrics of old.

  • What bothers me about the song is not the point he's making, but the fact that it really isn't lyrically on the same level as the stuff they released when Tom was a "teenage anarchist." Also it pretty much neglects a lot of the positives of anarchism and the culture, just seeming to make a mockery of their previous ideals.

  • This song blows. Against Me! was never too great of a band, though "Walking Is Still Honest" and "You Look Like I Need a Drink" are good songs.

  • That's funny, because I Was a Pre-Teen McCarthyist

  • Damn, I hope this song ends up on an album soon!

  • I miss Warren. At least Boca Fiesta kicks ass though.

  • This song could either sound really excellent and rockin' on the album, or it could sound really over-produced and ironic. Guess we'll have to wait and see. :) I have hope for this new album either way. I have been listening since "As the Eternal Cowboy", and have never given up on them. In fact, i respected them more when they signed to a mainstream label. It just shows that they have character that most bands neglect, and can move on with their lives.

  • I agree 100%

  • I did start listening to against me! new wave and many of the songs of that album are my favorite but then I listened to hte older stuff and enjoyed it just as much as new wave.

  • hey man, all that matters is that YOU dig the music. check out New Wave B-Sides.

  • ah, the timeless fight over who is a real am! fan and who's a new wave douche. not that they are, they're just late to the party that's all.

  • This is a really depressing song =(

Its like no matter how hard you fight for what ever ideals you want the man will win

    i refuse to accept this!

yet i can see this being the anthem of my youth all too soon

  • Finally... new stuff. I think I just creamed myself. And I know about the old stuff (vivida vis, self titled, tom's demo) so you're not alone.

  • Sweet, they finally grew up, I love their stuff, old and new (I'm talking about their OLD stuff, like their self titled album, but you newfags wouldnt know about it would ya?)

  • You know I bet you only found out about them a few years back and then looked up their old stuff, I doubt you were one of the few kids in Gainsville buying their old stuff in the 90's, were ya?

  • damn, you got me.

But go figure, I was only two when the self-titled was released....

  • hmm lets see, I live in California, always have, so what do you think? Of course not, but the first song I heard by them was Pints of Guinness, wouldn't call it old but it sure isnt New Wave, so tell me what difference does it make? I heard their old stuff and liked it, I also like their new stuff, I just don't like people who only like New Wave, they make me rage.

  • I mean you cant dislike people for liking one album by one band, but I'm with you, Pints was the first song I heard too and I was hooked, but you cant call people fags for not liking their old stuff

  • haha newfag doesnt literally mean fag, its more of an inside joke

  • oh lol

  • @Otherien Heard that.

  • sooooo i'd like to take this time to tell you something that tom gabel has said on many occasions, nobody liked AM! in the 90's i mean nobody. so stick that in retard head and puff up jimmy

  • ok....Reinventing Axl Rose came out in the 2000's...suck on THAT

  • cool call other am! fans fags, that makes sense

  • I repeat, it doesn't literally mean fag

  • Seems pretty convenient to say that capitalism works once your pockets are stuffed.

  • this ones alright. Lehighs my fav song so far from the next album

  • Good song. Almost a mix between old and new Against Me! I like it. Can't wait for a new album. Thanks for posting!

  • Thanks for your opinion, move along.

  • Perfect response.

  • lol, it will definitly take time to get used to, but its not a bad song, your opinion sucks lol

  • i dont know about it taking time. the only thing that stood out to me that i didnt like was that it was a little too repetitive.

  • @BeerGoggles100 hey beer goggles. how about this teenage anarchist kicks your pansy ass

  • @rougewave What? You wanna kick my ass because I said I didn't like this song? That makes sense.

  • @BeerGoggles100 lol no im just kiddin, but try to be less negative, you dont have anything nice to say, say nothing

  • @BeerGoggles100 Then why'd you click the video, bud.
