@MazdaStrider I don't have any plans for more vids right now. I might re-film this highway at some point over the summer when it's almost nearing completion. I have pretty much filmed all I wanted to film in the local area with the exception of US-50 around Annapolis/Ches. Bay Bridge. And if I don't get a chance to do that, I'm sure Jim will at some point. 2011 was a very busy year so I didn't have a ton of free time to dedicate to roadfilmnig.
@zorb58 Probably done as a safety thing.... so that people in the rightmost lanes don't try to merge left at the last minute, potentially causing accidents. That's just a guess though.
Excellent ride, the Beltway will be REALLY nice when all the construction is finished. You almost HAD to film this on a holiday or the traffic would have been a nightmare. Thumbs up!
BTW at the Springfield Interchange are the new piers just before the I-395 overpass are for HOV ramps? The were not present in my video.
@Freewayjim Thanks...I believe those ramps are access ramps for the HOT lanes. Yeah between this and the work in Alexandria at Rt. 1 and Telegraph Rd the beltway will be much easier to travel through in a few years.

@FreewayBrent Thanks, yeah by that time it was underway. Because I remember during Summer '09 they closed one of the bridges I sometimes use so they could reconstruct it.
