  • I am still not convinced that the short radar nose is the impediment to have a retractable refuel extension. The Eurofighter typhoon has also a very short radar nose and it doesn't have a visible refuel extension. There is got to be another option available to make this possible. This design feature seems a significant drawback for this beautiful aircraft to be flawless.I can only expect that French engineers will have studied other options when this is so obvious and disfiguring.

  • Thank you for your reply. It helps to understand the reason why this refuel extension protrudes from this great aircraft.Trusting one day french engineers will solve this feature that will enhance the design of this outstanding airplane. This may be the crucial step in the appeal of the Rafale in the world market that will help to make it more successful.

  • Beautiful aircraft but the design is ruined by the refuel extension . Don't french engineers see that and can't they his that?

  • @cmmonzon Sure it will be perfect without that, but like you say they are engineer, not designer, probably Dassault considers the choice of a fixed refueling probe more advantageous, especially for reliability. There may be a change, I heard that the next update (F4 standard) could incorporate a retractable refueling probe.

  • @cmmonzon

A retractable reful is heawyer and difficul to install on a compact aircraft: it comes in contact with the radar nose (for ex: the F18 nose is much longer...)

  • @MrMatematico1985 i'll say yes for the few sentences i've understand, France + germany + (GB sometimes)= great stuff

  • The Eurofighter isn't better than Rafale because the eurofighter is a multirole aircraft whereas the rafale is a omnirole aircraft( sorry for the vocabulary I'm french xD )

  • @angerfist67240

    non c 'est le contraire

  • it's beautiul and sexy, it's my favorite aircraft fighter. But I think EuroFighter is better than Rafale.

  • @razorsharpview9090

    Eurofighter isn't carrier capable...

  • I fucking love the way the nose looks. DAMN SEXY

  • Vive le France !!

  • Yo quisiera volar una de estas bestias.

  • These jets are flying over Libya now...

  • Beautiful plane! Got to see them when CVN-71 went and visit France and they did some joint flights, yep they got to land on American Carriers and take off :)

  • J'adore cette avion , il a vraiment de la "gueule" et puis j espère que d' autre pays l adopteront car vraiment je pense que notre technologie n a vraiment rien a envier aux autres fabricants d' avions de chasse

  • Both are delta wing aircraft but they are not logically the same design.

  • wow !

  • The best plane

  • I'm surprised nobody is throwing around some hate on countries or how their military is better

  • @DanielDaniel1 Haha me too. I will start it now. Fuck France, USA, and all the rest :) Just kidding. I like most of these aircrafts and their builders. Hope no one attacks anyone which is unfortunately impossible with all the hate among people including on YouTube. You want to learn about people, log on to YouTube...

  • Rafale for MMRCA

  • Well, we know that jets can take off and land on the CDG. Now, more importantly, is the CDG a hobby-horse of the state or is it able to project power in support of foreign policy? Huge difference!

  • the burst strangely resembles the fox bat, with wings ducks and composition of composite fibers mach 2.1 but on the international market????

  • shalom very nice

  • Very much like the JAS 39 Gripen and the Eurofighter, wonder if they do have much difference

  • That's a good question! First of all the JAS gripen is not in the same category , it's smaller, lighter with only 1 GE-F-404 engine equivalent to 1 Rafale engine [M-88]. Gripen can carry less loads. From the beginning Rafale was designed to be a carrier based aircraft so its airframe is stronger to endure carrrier landings and launches. The canards of the Rafale are very different from the 2 others [near the wings] to guide the airflow on the wings. It was designed to be true multirole!

  • ..Thanks to it's canard the Rafale can achieve lower appoach speeds and perform Air-ground, air-air and Air-sea missioons. But it cannot achieve supercruise yet [maybe in the future with new M-88 improved versions] The Eurofighter [EF] was designed to be only Air-air aircraft [with supercruise] so it lacks air-ground capabilities [next versions will improved for that]

  • after the last joint exercise in the UAE,nov.2009;one can say the rafale's main difference over the EF is:IT'S F...ING BETTER!!

  • that is a cool jet. i like it more than the F-22... i dont know what it is, but jets with front alerons just look SO cool...

  • they're not alerons, they're canards

  • but you can call them Moustaches aswell...

    i call the moustaches...

  • lol how random?

  • !un aterrizaje de 4 segundos! (ver 1.00)

  • fly

  • Great Video!

  • C'est un belle appareil quand même :)

  • Nice Song at 3:53 Love Ittt

  • Rafale Carriere Opération

  • LOL Quelle traduction!!

  • rafale for indian mrca

  • hey? is jsut look like the thypoon war figther plane.

  • Sorry, it's NOT based on the typhoon.

  • @Brainless78 Yeah its not based on the Typhoon. Since France was originally in the Eurofighter project, its probably fair to say some of the experiences from that project transfered, but they quit for a reason - because they wanted a different kind of fighter.

  • ts is based on the typhoon but the french are allies with us and the spanish the germans and us the brits, they just like building there own planes where as the brits germans and the spaniards work together to utilise all of our resources, the frnch use a go it alone policy with there air force.

  • would wish if rafale wins the swiss airforce F-5Ereplacement contest that we buy the rafale m version (well we have no carrier but like the F/A-18C these naval planes work well with our smale airbases). Rafale is my favorite (there are eurofighter and saab also in the run).

  • Cool French design!

  • can the pilot see the deck at the angle the rafale is flaring befor touchdown?

  • That's a good question. Yes he can see it clearly, the nose has been adapted for that. On the 1986 Rafale A it was much more difficult for Yves Kerhervé to make touch and goes but the prototypes made in 1993 the Rafale C (or Black Rafale) and The Rafale M 01 were improved for that purpose (among other modifications).

  • mhhmmm,

    got it.

  • go rafale and give them the hell

    greetings from brazil

  • European aircrafts are all about efficiency

  • @Antros23 Very true, I believe that multi-role fighters are the future of naval aviation, if not military aviation in general.

  • @Antros23 and sexiness

  • Why can't they give it a retractable refueling boom? If I were flying it, I'd rather get it out of the way until I need it. Aside from an obetruction for the pilot, it seems to be a blemish on such a beautiful aircraft.

  • This is a military aircraft, design is not important, just efficiency is needed.

Of course,i would prefer to suppress this ugly refueling boom.

  • Certainly aesthetics isn't a concern, but I think there is a pratical problem. A fighter needs the clearest view possible. Maybe when I buy one, I can have it customized. :P

  • Perhaps it will be removed for export version, if we can sail one to foreign, one day.

  • THe refueling boom is not retractable for a matter of fiability. Rafale is a small aircraft (very compact), and moving pieces of a retractable refueling boom can make this system inoperant. Also, the Refueling boom of the Rafale (and the M2000) is designed to have the smallest impact on the Aircraft aerodynamics.

  • Those are certainly the reasons, I'm just considering a pilot's perspective. For instance, pilots have always praised the

F-16's lack of a canopy rail in front, which gives an unobstructed view. You're definitely right about its compactness. Rafale is a tiny little aircraft.

  • Compared to the Tomcat or the Su-27, which are monstruously big aircraft (no offense, just an expression ^^), it's sure is a small aircraft.

  • Yeah, but it is certainly still capable. Why build more than you need, right?

  • Nice vid ! Rafale looks like a very good aircraft !

  • French jet

  • I envy military jet pilots!

  • If you could know how much I eny them too.

My life's objective is to buy an aircraft carrier and Rafale as a little private yacht for my worldwide deplacement ^^

  • That Rafale looks SWEEEEEEET to fly in!

  • BTW the Royal Navy carriers are only that small because the harrier can take off and land vertically, there is no need for a large deck and they can still carry a large number of jets. Also the Royal Navy are getting new carriers soon for the f-35 and they will be the size of the american carriers, the largest ones i think NIMITS class?

  • why do airforces around the world speak english? I know most pilots have to speak fluent english, is english a sort of international language? They always speak english over the radios

  • When a war breaks out all of the allied forces need to speak the same language. English is that language and it also servers as the language of business as well.

  • LOL Fuck it let start speaking spanish,,,maybe all you loser star crashing

  • Im seriously thinking about learning spanish. The chicks are caliente!

  • cut that crap out

  • What are you talking about ???

  • I think ( not sure tho ) that the originality of this carrier is that it has 2 runways where 2 aircrafts can take of at the same time meant for faster reaction time. I m not sure tho..

  • what size is this carrier? size of great britan carriers?

  • The carrier in the video is the Charle De Gaulles and she had a displacement of about 40.000 tons ( 38,000 tons empty and 40,600 tons full load.

    Lenth : 261.5 m overall

    Beam : 64,36 m overall

An american carrier is about 80.000 I think, compare yourself, this carrier is a small one.

  • much smaller than a US carrier, but a bit bigger than a great britain carrier (like 20% bigger i would say)

  • a good size but the next french carriers would benifit from a larger displacement.

  • The main difference between French-American carriers and the rest of the world is that they have steam catapults. And Brazil bought a former French carrier, it didn't develop and build it.

  • those jump flight decks are so old skool. steam and soon magnet catapults are the best way. btw the british carrier is sooo small like the size of a coast guard ship

  • Shit up mate, if the Argertinian heard that they might come to get us.

  • really nice, thanks.

But...where are those crappy comments founded in all aviation videos "this aircraft beat this one" "this country is better than this one".. LOL sorry,it was stronger than me.. ;)

All aircrafts are amazing and this video is a great work, thanks again

  • you so right, maybe because this airplanes are made for war, people start this war here in youtube!!

  • very interesting...but the trouble is..they made also "war of comments" with civil airliners : My boeing kick your Airbus..so they are more dangerous than the real military :)

  • you right again!!

  • great video
