  • Cool engine! Like ! :D

  • Can you give the latest gmk???

  • lol

  • @sedna16 google spriters resource

  • where do you get the isometric sprites???

i'm really bad at game art.

  • Seems like a nice smooth engine. GJ!

  • How do you make the sprites a different character?

  • Why change the engine? I saw the video, is Bob-ombs, 2 Players, and etc ... But the link is in the description is very different from what I saw! Please answer!

  • You changed the engine!! T.T

  • Por que a engine mudou? Agora só tem o movimento! Não tem cascos Koopa, não tem Luigi... Por que? D:

  • how can u play 3 player!? L00K! 4:37

  • how can u play player!? L00K! 4:37

  • when i download it i only get a white thing, what i do with it?

  • bowser must teach bomb-obs killing luigi!xD

  • yay luigi!!!

  • does this use z gravity?

  • Good job

  • Oh My God ! What the hell did you make that ??? is really good !

  • how to turn luigi or how to use him?

  • Darthjaiz, you said that the PIPE engine can be easily be converted to an isometric engine. Can you give me some tips on how to turn PIPE.gm6 to be more like the video you posted?

  • @tgcid1 Yeah, that should be good. Just the basic things about that.

  • Isn't this Art Theft from the large Nintendo company if you use their mario sprites from some of their Nintendo Ds games without their permission?

  • @BlondeSmoothie 2 things

#1:its a fan game being made for non profit resons, at least i would hope so, or else this person would have charges no matter what mario sprites, even custom, they used if it was without permission, witch i have to say is slim to none, same with any copyright image if found out in said terms

#2:the sprites are from a GBA game called Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga, which is a bit old

  • @chancey455

Acutally the sprites are also used in Mario and Luigi Partners in Time on DS and there is another game which they are used in too which is recent.

  • @BlondeSmoothie The DS sprits for Partners in Time and Bowsers Inside Story are a bit cleaner, makeing the only thing that is from the DS most likely is the shell and bom-omb, that or they are custom, my vote on the shell is that its custom from the fact that i beat all 3 M&L games, never saw one, anyhow the part one, and the more importent part of this is still in effect for what i understand anyhow.

I could be wrong on the sprites but they just seem cleaner and diffrent on the DS.

  • @BlondeSmoothie sure is and I wouldn't be surprised as soon as it's "released" nintendo will hit this guy with an infringement suit so big they will revoke his internet license WOW! :) anyway darthjaiz if I were you I would replace the sprites with some customs versions of your own characters (pay a pro) and you will have the same if not better results. Else you are wasting you energy! Good Luck! :)

  • what kind of sprites do you use for mario himself?

    Some kind of 3d sprite?

  • @googlewatcher Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga

  • I hate you.

  • This should be used as a MMORPG engine :D

  • well done

  • How did you make a side view game?

  • @nitop5632 are u stupid?, simply look for two or three tutorials on the basics and then all the rest you can think and try to learn what is, when u ready search for script tutorials and ploof! ur a liiitle programmer but a descent programmer on gm P.D.: The games will not make by their own, so put on thinking and... nothing is easy in this fu... life

  • did he just try to hump luigi at 0:52 ??

  • Buenisimo, te felicito. Yo soy principiante en esto cuando haga uno lo subo.

  • can you release the full engine? this looks so cool

  • @nitop5632 if game maker is too complicated for you then you shouldnt even be thinking of making games since gml is a pretty damn easy langauge

  • Comment removed

  • what does the code depth=-y do. someone please answer.

  • good, could have improvement but i liked it!

  • Is this ever going to be released?

  • what game maker is this?

    is it game maker 8?

  • when i downloaded it it just showed a peice of paper and it wont let me play

  • Oh wow, great job on this man! I've been working with GM for years, and I know developing an isometric engine of this quality definitely isn't an easy feat. With the layering, and jumping and collision detection. Nice!

  • i gotta start using gamemaker again multimedia fusion just has to many problems.

  • That would be so cool if it was made with goomba's like everywhere and its just mario and luigi fending the princess from the goomba's then there is a goomba boss that jumps and causes earthquakes and shells to drop down

  • what did you use to make this?

  • @ROFLBLACKPEOPLE no life...

  • Need boos chainchomps and stars

    ;->

  • i hear the words possible MARIO RPG in my head...like the MArio and Luigi series for DS and gba

  • very good man!

    exelent engine!

  • This is Great...

if it wasnt made in Gm

  • @Angeljruiz

What's so wrong about GM? Out of your comment I can only think you're just unknown of the possibilities you have with Game Maker.

  • where'd you get the sprites? theyre really good :P

  • It's a nice game.

Continue to work on it =p

  • awesome

  • This isnt made by him....

  • This could be good for machinima!

  • awesome!

  • very nice engine!

  • this is awesome... you should also make it a survival game with waves upon waves of baddies

  • Can I do this stuff in the video without registered version of Game Maker as far as any/all of you/other(s) know?

  • yes you can without the registered version. but it would be hard

  • The example works well darthjaiz. However, I did run into occasional problems when the player is jumping under multiple blocks (player objected kept slipping through somehow.) Also, while adding taller blocks in the 'top-down' perspective proved simple, I encountered ugly problems when trying to accomplish the same in isometric. Not so much when taller blocks were isolated, but when they were close to the lower ones.

  • the download link on the description is different then the game i see here.

  • tip: a good isometric algoritm is (gml) depth=-y

  • this works only with isometric that doesn't deal with jumping under and on platforms.

  • maybe something like:

    depth=-z*room_height-y;

    ?

    or something like that

  • found one that works (for me):

    depth=-(y+z*room_height);

  • @darthjaiz given the age of this I doubt this will get seen :P, but anyway. depth I used for multi z level iso games is something like "depth = -y+z" z being a custom variable for the height of the object. Not sure about that + though, might be minus. been a while I forget :\.

  • @darthjaiz I use a code similar to it created by a guy which is:

    depth=-y

    depth+=-x

in the step event and create event. Havent tried under platforms though, done on platforms.

  • What Sprite Sheets did you use? I think that they're good. . . (The Brick Blocks from Super Mario: Warp Zone are pretty nice. . .)

  • the character sprites are from MRPGSS, the obstacle sprites here are made by me, they are based from SMB2 grass.

  • I know Mario is out of Superstar Saga, but I didn't know you made the grass sprites. . . (If those are what you are talking about.) Where are the Sprite Sheets for them?

  • I did not submit sprite sheets for the blocks and grass. I just have them in my PC.

  • I was talking to some one else, but okay. . . But where did you find them? What website?

  • Comment removed

  • I'm thinking of a jumping mario isometric game. I'm not telling u wat its called. i need help cuz i dont no anything about 3d iso games. plz help!

  • Although this is made in GameMaker, the idea of an isometric mario game is interesting and pretty new

  • wow this is really amazing,

i would ask about alot of stuff but since its in game maker it cant really help me.

This is really and impressive though,

what are your plans for the game?

  • thanks, I am planning huge on this one, but i'm crossing my fingers. anyway, im planning on a 4 player coop and 4 player battle. right now i'm still optimizing the online communications.

  • Sounds amazing

are the mario sprites placeholder or is it going to be a mario game?

They are very well done regardless

  • Its probably going to be a mario game, since sprites are easier to find. Thanks for hte comments.

  • Damn im just worried about some trouble that might arise, but i understand.

Make 8 directional sprites and animations for every character! Its a bitch.

  • yeah you're right, but I didn't plan to make more characters though, just the popular ones.

  • Yeah, if its only up to 4 players...then just do like Mario, Luigi, Peach, Toad & Yoshi

  • Good Idea, exactly what i thought except peach.

  • All of them have SMRPG sprites...and if a girl were to play, I'm sure they'd like to be able to be a girl character.

BTW, Geno would make a hell of a sixth character.

  • thats 5 o.o

  • Would it be like random face offs or....(online)

  • for now it only supports online through ip-address. random face-offs is on my list. adding a main server for created sessions and joining by searching the server list.
