@AlllexL Are you seriously telling me that you haven't seen Ghost in the Shell before =_=... go watch it now first the original movie then Stand Alone Complex followed by Ghost in the Shell S.A.C. 2nd GIG and then Solid State Society make sure it's the TV series versions and not the cut down movies. Some people are watching this for the wrong reasons, fans of GITS know better. This scene isn't meant to be arousing, it's meant to be alienating. It demonstrates the separation of body from the mind & soul and more importantly the blurring line between man & machine, hence the name Ghost in the Shell.

Hopefully some of you that just came here to see a naked lady will check this series out, it's honestly one of the best things I have ever seen.

@leandroplw Quizás no sea tan 'compleja' como The End of Evangelion, pero su estilo y narrativa visual son lo suficientemente elaboradas como para destacar, incluso sobre la anterior mencionada. Además, hay que tomar en cuenta que The End of Evangelion es contemporánea a Ghost in the Shell y ésta última no contó con una serie de TV anterior en la que pudiese desarrollar una historia más amplia y profunda.

Oshii se ha destacado siempre por su narrativa y en Ghost in the Shell hace gala de ello.

Ok, i might be having bit of a daft moment, but i gotta ask; What is the source of this video?? I have the UK Manga Entertainment 2.0 Blu-ray (which contains the original version of the movie as a bonus feature, but not in this quality) and the screenshots of the Japanese Blu-ray didnt look anywhere near as nice as this! Is this ripped from an HD tv broadcast or something? Thanks!

GITS 2.0 UK version uses the old GITS manga UK dvd movie, but ridiculously upscaled. WTF

The source of this clip is from japanese R2 bluray, which uses the actual HD master. The same as the version 2.0 uses.

(the screenshots of the Japanese Blu-ray on dvdbeaver were EXTREMELY misleading or i would have already purchased this) When you say the Japanese Blu-ray, do you mean the one that is included in the 2.0 boxset, or the one that was originally released in Japan as a dvd/blu-ray combo box, later re-released as a stand alone blu-ray? (as the latter also includes the optional english voice acting, whereas the japanese 2.0 box doesnt) ^^

i watched this in the cinema when it was first released. In attendance were me, my 2 mates, and a father with two kids. During the opening sequence (above) the father left probably thinking this was too risky for his kids. After 10 mins both my mates fell asleep. It was just me, this film, and my own cinema. @MrTBSC To be honest I think Batou and Togusa are the actual main characters in GiTS. I think that the major is just a very important figure in the story. I mean look at Innocense and S.S.S. Both of those films mainly follow Batou and Togusa but the story's of them involved how difficult they found it to lead Section 9 because Motoko was gone. Even in S.A.C I felt like the both of them had more screen time than Motoko.
