I've actually had the opportunity to shoot one of those things, and I was very impressed by it. It really does feel like a well made gun, and the Houge grip actually kept me from dropping it. I held it with both hands, but after the piece went bang, it was in only one of my hands, and perfectly vertical. The most amazing muzzle flip I've ever seen. The trigger pull was incredibly light, even if I don't pull the hammer back.
The velocity you stated would only be in pistol with a much longer barrel...sadly. This thing will still put out a hell of a punch, but not nearly the stated velocity and power on the ammo boxes.
Guy at my range snuck one in as a .44 and started firing rounds. The owner comes down after 5 minutes of booming and halts fire. Guys inspected the steel plates on the range and found that the rounds were punching through the 1/4" steel. I saw up .close and it looked like the metal was liquified

@SonsOfLiberty65 Put it into the Meat of your hand, just to the outside of the crease, use your arm as a shock absorber elbow slightly bent, proper foot stance/spread and maybe even angle your body slightly and lean into it - try again... Thin Tall women can shoot this - or just get accustomed to the 45 colt round instead - or opt out for a longer barrel.

this gun is a beast im not sure if it kicks more then the 500 mag because its not ported and the 500 is but this gun is more easy to conceal with 2.5'' then the 4'' and other barrel lengths so if your talkin bout power it doesnt beat 500 mag maybe recoil and conceal it then yeah it beats it on that factor also on the frame the 500 mag uses x-frame to hold those tupido round so the frame is stronger

I love .45, got 2 different .45 pistols even.....sadly in my neck of the woods we cant have these Alaskans cause of the barrel length. So I had to stick with the .44 super blackhawk...and holy SHIT is that fun to shoot. But you boys have a tank there.
With .45 Colt rounds, the gun barely recoils. For practice and personal protection, .45 Colt rounds are more than enough. Save the expensive .454 Casull rounds for blasting thing to pieces or backup in bear country.
The Rock uses this same gun in the movie; Faster. This is bad friggin' ass. For conceal carry the .454 Causull is wayy too powerful for most situations, better to use the .45 colt. But... say all hell has broke loose, the chips are soggy and down, my Glock 23 .40 s&w is out of ammo, my Glock 20 10mm is empty as well, I'm cornered and the big nasty is approaching, and not a friend in sight, the end of the world is nigh... THIS is the backup revolver I want, loaded for fucking bear!

zboys, should you ever try the buffalo bore 454 in 360 grainers please let us know how they compare to the corbons. I am always concerned about some of these premium rounds jumping the crimp and locking up the cylinder when it is need in a crises (charging bear)... I have no experience with corbon and limited experience with buffalo bore ammo so that is why I am seeking information on the most reliable high performance ammo for the 454. Thanks for the videos

@swamp04055 its been a while so ill try to recall it. it was a 20 round box of corbon 300 or 330 grain defense loads. it happened once with the round losing its crimp with that type of load. all others have been fine
Have you compared buffalo bore to corbon ammo? If so i'd like to hear your comments. I shoot 360 grain buffalo bore rounds in mine. Have you ever had a 454 corbon cartridge jump the crimp?
For me the recoil is really severe making it no fun to shoot with those loads.

I am tore between this and the S&W 500 magnum short. After firing it and the 8 inch barrel, I'm a bit scared of the short lol. How would you compare this to the 500 short with heavy loads?
@jonathan043088: I disagree. Have you owned a 454 AND a 44? I have. I like the way the 454 shoots heavy 45's much better than the way the 44 shoots. With handloads the accuracy and MPBR goes way up on the 45's. If you have the 44, that's great, and I'm glad you enjoy it. However, if you are in bear country, a heavy 45 round is better IMHO. I use a 300 grain at 1325 FPS. More power than the 44 and gentler on the hand. I don't really use the full 454 Casull much. It rips my hand off.

I went shooting for the first time today and shot that gun. Omg what a gun! I like the ruger redhawk casull a little more. Alot more acurate than the .50 cal. Plus i shot the s&w with 450grn crtrgs. Packs a serious punch. You could pop the GoodYear Blimp like a party baloon with the S&W 500. lol

Ok if you compare this to your 500mag in a self defense against grizzly or large predator which one you will bet your life. which one will out perform interms of power and quick follow up shots giving you are better control and ergonomics.

I have an Alaskan 454 also and I can't get it clean.Do you know any good product to clean the powder residue ? I use Sweet's 7.62 which is great on my semi autos but not working on this gun.
@rattlesnakerocker get the birchwood casey lead/powder burn removing cloth. best cloth out there. simply rub over the residue and it comes right off in seconds with it

Ruger no doubt has the strongest revolver frames...thick and no side plates..you cant' beat them for how well they are built.

its a nice peice...rugers have one of the strongest actions,frames as for s&w they are great smooth guns...most want hold up as good as a ruger...as for the s&w 500??it will prob out last all.nice fukking toys you have zboyco!...keep your vids coming especially the chicks shooting guns vids...take care,be safe bro!

6:28 I love the top view of this gun. Once you hold it in your own hands you realize how well made and how massive this gun really is. In the video it may look "small" but damn it isnt! I love it and still think about buying one even though I already own a 4 inch 500 S&W which I do also really love...

I went shooting for the first time today and shot that gun. Omg what a gun! I like the ruger redhawk casull a little more. Alot more acurate than the .50 cal. Plus i shot the s&w with 450grn crtrgs. Packs a serious punch. You could pop the GoodYear Blimp like a party baloon with the S&W 500. lol

seriously? it fires 45colt? i've been interested in that gun but i wanted something that shoots more than one caliber. ie: 38special/357.

hey great vid. but their is one smaller one on the market, the taurus 454 is 2.25 in! holy balls. downside of the taurus tho for those viewers looking for big punch in small frame is the taurus only has 5 rounds not six...and an extra 300gr of lead can mean the world :)

Ok if you compare this to your 500mag in a self defense against grizzly or large predator which one you will bet your life. which one will out perform interms of power and quick follow up shots giving you are better control and ergonomics.
By the way good vid l like the way you roll with your words keep it real.

I have an Alaskan 454 also and I can't get it clean.Do you know any good product to clean the powder residue ? I use Sweet's 7.62 which is great on my semi autos but not working on this gun.

@rattlesnakerocker get the birchwood casey lead/powder burn removing cloth. best cloth out there. simply rub over the residue and it comes right off in seconds with it
