I think so.. I know that most Atheros based wireless cards are compatible with bt3.

umm you could get a free shell, but theres no way they will let you use such software on there servers, so i recommend you just use backtrack 3 via usb or cd.. its a live cd so you dont have to install the OS

umm besides that i can recommend that you use ubuntu if you want an installable linux environment, and from there download all the tools needed manually

OK, so i decided to try this on my ThinkPad Lenovo R61 School PC! i did everything in the right order, but when i tryed to disable monitor mode something happend! you see i typed in the command (airmon-ng stop ath0) And when you do, it should say "monitor mode disabled" right? well on my PC it didn't. instead of "monitor mode disabled", it said "VAP Destroyed"... WHY?

i have tryed this several times and i dont know what to do! WHY does it say "VAP destroyed" and not "monitor mode disabled"???

well to crack a wep key, among other things you will have to change the mac adress and change other things on the PC! i dont know if u understand this, but will everything you change go back to normal when u restart the PC and go back to windows again?

Please help. I am running backtrack in vmware. everything works until I execute aircrack.. then I get a Segmentation fault. How can I fix this?

sounds like a memory issue because a segmentation fault usually means that the program is trying to access memory which doesn't belong to it, and then the kernel smacks it over the head.

If running VMWARE make sure you have enough memory given to your virtual hard disk.. if you are not running in VMWARE, then make sure your computers hardware is fine, along with sufficient memory... if all else fails restart an try again

Burned ISO to disc, booted from CD, and ran this, do you know how to get multiple windows up when booting from CD? I have Vista but downloaded the 16 bit version, not sure if there is a 32 bit version of backtrack out there do you know???

What I get is the first window, that tells me the username: "root" and password: "toor" than, I get this shell (window) that i can write in, but I need to get 3 shells up in order to hack wep! How do I get multiple shells (windows) up?

well you just open up another terminal, as many as you need

when backtrack is all booted up, just click the terminal icon on the bottom bar, you should be seeing a KDE menu

all depends... you will not need a dictionary file to crack WEP. however, you will need a dictionary to crack WPA. you could probably serach the remote-exploit forums for some, or use google. personally, i used pureh@tes wordlist from his blog
