  • You see? Even the Chinese praise Judah by singing his songs!

  • i think there's a nice full sound. if i hadn't seen this video and jus was listening to them i couldn't tell their race and that's a very good thing. it means you're able to sing all genres of songs and cross the stereotypical racial barrier when it comes to singing.

  • audience is same all over the world. at least when it comes to this song

  • is it just me, or does a CHINESE choir singing a NEGRO spiritual seem strange.

other than that, the sang good, only the piano could have been loulder. The soslist sang beautifully.Good Job!

  • @NiggaYouth no stranger than a "negro" choir worshipping a jewish man.

Hogan's music is great no matter who sings it. I mean unless they suck, but this is pretty good, especially since they successfully jump the cultural barrier that you are alluding to.

  • @yukikoforevernoise i totally agree. the soprano has a very clear voice.

  • I agree about the 4 beats thing, but I applaud the director on when you need to be quiet and loud in that song. Many directors don't bother with that. IT MAKES A DIFFERENCE. And the foreign tongue did really make a difference and I was really was impressed of how well you did. AWESOME!!

  • GOOD JOB

  • Better than the others that i heard!!!

  • They need to work on their vowels, especially since it's a different language than they are accustomed to. Great job!

  • That tells you if you have the focus and the love of music you can do it.

  • i have a problem with the conductor beating 4 beats, but you sound good overall!

  • it's supposed to be in four...we're singing it for my choir and that's how it's written.

  • Yeah the time signature is 4/4 but any conductor worth his salt would beat 2 beats per measure because of the lyrical nature of the song.

  • Moses Hogan is one of my favorite arrangers/composers... Of all the you tube video's of performances of his music, this is one of the few good ones... good show :)

  • Great Job!!!

  • very good diction and vowels!

  • When I was about 8 years old. I got the honor to sing with Moses Hogan directing in a church located in New Orleans. Time has sure flown by since now the church and Moses have passed on since. This was the last song I sang with him, great job.

  • nice song...slow it down some...its not sung that fast....very nice dynamics...

  • well how much slower should it be?!...this sounds fine as is.

It might sound good slower, but doesnt this sound good too.

  • yeah....it does...but sometimes the slower the better effect you can get out the song...

  • And the tempo on the actual music is 132. This is about 144. They sure do it well, though, don't they?

  • sang this song in Florida's All-State choir around 6 years ago... good times, impressed that a Japanese choir has the vowels sounding decent. Can't beat Moses Hogan.

  • Hi, but we are a Chinese choir, not Japanese. Thank you for the comment.

  • @6Voices we more used to seeing Japanese choirs singing spirituals... It's nice to know this is a Chinese choir since the description didn't specify...

  • I was also impressed that those with a foreign tongue did so well. Besides the slight problems with pronunication, otherwise perfect!

  • I sung it in New York at Carneige Hall with Moses Hogan conducting us. Those were the days

  • that song is realy coool.i like the song and you are enjoying the movies...

  • sang this at New York All State with Andre Thomas conducting, very nice piece.

  • we sang this in my high school choir and it was much more upbeat the director is not into it at all but other than that they have great voices!

  • we also sing this in choir...!

    :)

    riDe on!!

  • I sang that in high school and at the end I almost always passed out

  • that was awesome guys! you all sound like professionals, and you have a great conductor!

  • are you kidding me, they sound ok but watch the conductor, he is not even on the beat, he is just waving his hands, classic case of a choir who does not watch the conductor for musical line, just learned memorized. this worries me

  • after watching it again, i see what you mean.

  • Actually, he seems to be keeping a 4/4 pattern and he even gives dynamics and entrance cues. If you listen to the choir, they have good dynamic contrast and expression. Not all trained voices, but they do well with what they have. Maybe they have efficient rehearsals so the conductor doesn't have to cue every little thing in performance, which is good - but they still communicated well, at least that's how it seemed to me.

  • Great!

  • dat is bangin!!!!

  • one of my favorites. bravissimo!!!

  • My are singing this song in our high school choir currently, and it is not an easy one. Good job
