As a horror fan, trust me, I understand the appeal of b-films.
But in a series called "A History of Horror", where in the hell is Psycho? Why are we skipping the most monumental horror film ever to waffle on and on and on about the 19th Dracula movie? Christ.
@snowyalice Oh thank God. :) I just watched it and you can tell he's not so passionate about American horror films, classics they may be (he obviously grew up with Hammer B-movies). Which is fine! But it seems a bit weird to be going on about all these Dracula sequels and giving arguably the most influential horror films brief blurbs because he has to because it's be ridiculous to skip them altogether.
I had a smile on my face up until the mention of a rape scene in Satan's Claw. Instantly disappeared. And then the Suspiria theme starts to play and my smile returns.
Yeh don't see Dracula, looking all moody and broody...No he's got his groove on, doing his shit and being super badass, not crying into his sandwhiches and moping around after some equally misreable chick!
What makes this really special is the amount of small but important details: Hammers painted leaves and berries,Niall MacGinnis in clown make-up talking about snakes and ladders,P.Cushings and V.Prices love for old castles and London fog, and the contrast between Blood on Satans Claw scenes, M.Gatiss talk with P.Haggard and the peaceful rural setting.....
Peter Cushing is one of my favorites too. The clips of him here are really charming, he's just the complete opposite of his stern, steely-eyed characters.
Peter Cushing lives in Whitstable,
You can see him on his bicycle,
He goes shopping for his vegetables...

Great series, but he missed my all time favorite movie, and a very pivotal one in the genre. Polanski's Rosemary's Baby.

@Lunarwill He covered that film in Episode 3, somewhere in the first half.

See THAT'S what happens to vampires when daylight hits them! They perish in dusty agony.. not sparkle with teenage angst!
