Brahm's Violin concerto D, Mozart's Requiem, Beethoven's Concerto's, Bach's Goldbergs, Passion According to St. Matthew-and all of Chopin, anything of Chopin..MattMJR is right..we're all finished. I used to attend Bernstein's Philharmonic children's concerts and would watch as he went wild, flinging and flopping, dripping by the end..and either you 'got it' or you didnt. But sorry to say, nothing contemporary, NOTHING compares, either in composing or artistes with the early 19th & 20th century
Okay, since you all voted me down for my apparent ignorance, help me out. If this wasn't playing during the oil well geyser scene of There Will Be Blood, what was, please?
Awesome music! Awesome video! As a kid, whenever my mom had trouble waking me up or gettin me out of bed in the mornings, she would play this so full blast, it could be heard thru out the whole house lol! It sure woke me up! Today I do the same thing 4 myself; I find this music very inspirational!
I don't know, Iluvbuenosaires93, The Fountain struck my being with an unprecedented force only the vibrations of an intrepid and iron will-to-love could produce.
Hefetz's 3rd movement of Brahms' Violin Concerto is my favorite. Others are good, his is perfect !! I wish I were there listening to his play, but I have no such chance...
Fantastic music, but I always wondered why he had the most dramatic part of this movement towards the beginning and not the end. Still, how can I argue with Brahms...
Do you guys have any udea when was this recording made?
Judging from the sound quality I think it's a late Heifitz recording. In early recordings the sound quality(I'm talking about enginiering, not playing ) it's just bad

What are you all smoking? This piece was in the middle of the movie as the damn oil burst up from the ground. As is typical in movies, it was reprised during the credits. K
the actual version used in the movie is that of Anne-Sophie Mutter, António Meneses, Berliner Philharmoniker & Herbert Von Karajan from the album "Brahms: Violin Concerto - Double Concerto", itunes has it
I thought this was PERFECT in TWBB. Great piece, Heifetz is incredible.
I'm friends with one of his former students, Ayke Agus - she lived and worked with him for a very long time before he died. She herself is a virtuoso pianist and violinist, is constantly performing and teaching master classes.
A great piece of music which made "There Will Be Blood" one of the best endings in film history. After an amazing final scene, it just suddenly breaks out into this. Great film, amazing music!

I don't like how they play it.
It's not bad or anything, but they make Brahms sound too mundane.

I comment similarly to what Rostropovich said upon hearing Du Pre playing the Elgar:
There is no need for me to perform this piece. Perfection has been reached.
