Not only that, if Charles had been able to marry Camilla it could never have happened because when Charles entered the military Camilla refused to wait for him. She went on and immediately married Andrew Parker-Bowles, which ruined any possible chance of a marriage with Charles. So in reality, it's Camilla's fault for not having patience. I'm sure Charles could have talked his mother into letting him marry her.

Since she was "unsuitable" --she was probably told it was never going to happen for her and to get married before Charles returned. Charles and Diana lived seperate lives and the boys were sent to prep shcool when they were 8. During the holidays they spent holidays with both parents. For a couple supposedly so much in love, does it not seem odd that she called Charles Sir until the day they got engaged? It was simply bad advice on both sides. Even the pictures show Diana always doing the holding or clinging. Charles was just doing his duty to provide an heir and spare for the throne. Yes, the royal family did treat Diana badly, which just triggered all her insecurities. I don't believe the crash was anything but an accident though.
