Hey Thanks (((((((hugs))))))) My mom LOVED the topic,.. so I just had to get her on cam talking about it. I laugh along with her when we talk about all the neat sayings out there. ;-)
3 square meals a day ,.. from sailors, who were served 3 meals on square plates that set in squar recesses on the table so they would not slide away.
Son of a gun ,.. sailors,.. the wives would often live on the ship when in port, and when they were about to give birth they would lay them between the cannons and fire them to help induce labor,..
We need more of this Personal human history. History from individuals so we can get a direct connection to the past, rather than from life less books.
Always interesting that even within a single language there is great variations. A lot of those sayings are nonexistent here on the west coast, at least where I am.
I'm glad you liked it. You could talk for hours with my mom. Both of you are born under the sign of Leo. ;-) It meant sooooo much that Mom let me record her.
