Not really familiar with the runway (I just recently got into it), but it was kind of odd how the designer just kind of popped out, and then walked backstage almost immediately. Does that normally happen?

Oh yes, they do that. Sometimes they walk all the runway like Domenico Dolce & Stefano Gabbana, but mostly they just show up and go to the backstage.
