Well they were watching it on Sunshine network when the games were held up north...why would you think that Little Havana is not safe? Just wait and see what happens. Marlins attendance has never been any good anyway so it definitely will not be any worse especially being a new stadium in the heart of Miami.
U & I may feel perfectly safe in Lil' Havana, but if u talk to the non-minority fan from outside Dade County, u may find that they'd rather not go to MIA for ANYTHING, much less a baseball game, bcz they don't think it's safe. The Marlins attendance, as u said, sucks, so building the ballpark there, would pretty much guarantee that the people that are more likely to buy tix, won't be, retractable roof or not. Good look for the community, bad move for the Marlins.
Maybe so, but are they buying season tix, or watching the games on Sunshine Network? I'm referring to the guy that's more likely to afford season tix; the one that lives in Boca, who barely wanted to drive to Miami Gardens in the 1st place & won't feel safe going to Lil' Havana. I think the intentions are good in terms of revitalizing the area, but I think it's gonna hurt attendance even more. They should have built it further north.
The Orange Bowl was demolished to make way for a new ballpark for the Marlins. Although the need was addressed, I don't think the old Orange Bowl site is the answer to their existing attendance problem. Most of the fans that would purchase season tickets live north of Miami & have no desire to go there to watch games.
This is Bullshit watching the Orange Bowl go down for the Marlins give me a break. The Hurricanes have done more for that city than the Dolphins & Marlins combine in the last25 years
the city of miami suck! they build that big ass theater no one ever goes there no events they keep the miami arena around i guess for the homeless and they keep the miami marine theater or whatever you call it for graffiti artists to practice such crap
Man i'm gonna miss the OB. It was such a shitty stadium(In a good way). But you gotta love the atmosphere. So many good times there. Dolphin Stadium will never be like the OB
A part of College football lore fell with that stadium. Yes it was antiquated, and most of it out of date. But it still held tradition of some of the greatest games played. As an FSU fan/Alum I will miss it for the good and bad reasons on my end. But the Orange Bowl was always the Orange bowl, you win there, you can beat anyones fans. Its was the closest to any team you will every be. ITs where fans made a differance.. RIP OB...
do folks in miami even now they have a baseball team

I disagree. The new locaton is in the middle of Little Havana where it's all about the Marlins.

Phenom, I'm sad to see the OB go down but the Marlins have won two championships and their new home will be in Little Havana. It's going to be good.
