  • That 2:44 - 3:20 section was awesome!Good Job :)

  • balance between low brass and woodwinds was pretty shaky at times but it was an ok performance there could have been more dynamic contrast at the end and the soloists werent very good but it was ok

  • when this video first came on my first thought was "wow thats alot of asians this must be good"

  • I'm crying. Not from the piece, but from the performance.

  • I would say watch your conductor... But I can't even tell what beat she's on with her hands O_O

  • i wish there were that many asians in my band.....

  • @chechesis64 but on a serious note, i really enjoyed playing the sax 1 part for our school, the little rythym that the saxes did was the best

  • the drum is so fast~but i like!!!!

  • not so==

  • muito legal gostei muito....

  • nice trombone!

  • Hell yeah! I played this song on bass clarinet last year in new orleans!

  • 6:05- 6:18 was a little shakey for the trumpet, especially at 6:10..... 6:19 cant hear the low winds and brass and that is an important part of the song. they needs to be heard... but im a little biased myself being a bass clarinet. 6:53 - 7:00 band was not totally together, especially timpani. and over all the director kinda sucked. sorta like the band was directing itself. just sayin. this is what i observed. ^_^

  • very nice oboe solo! but you could add more vibrato...

  • pembroke high school is playing this piece this year!! I thought I heard I few clarinet (myself being a clarinet player) squeaks here and there at the end but I don't blame them, it's hard from what I saw. good job, though it looks like they need more percussion people. anyways, I hope we sound good.

  • I felt there main problem was lack of balance and the conductor adjusted to the band where as it should have been the other way around

  • I love this song and I am playing it for band this year so cool. And yes we are a Middle School and we can probably play it better than these guys. No offense.

  • Sorry, but that was awful. I played it last year in middle school and we were a million times better. Check out Fate of the Gods - Wood Oaks @ Superstate 2009

  • chill the f out guise, it only sounds bad because the conductor is a woman

  • Good Job Mr. Trumpet Solo. #2 hahahaha loser

  • I play clarinet for my school and it was thrilling for the clarinet part. Good performance with minor mistakes.

  • I play clarinet for my school and it was thrilling for the clarinet part.

  • our 9th grade is playing this.

  • percussion on that come in came in too loud, french horn solo needs more work, the band has major blending problems.

  • ok out of tune clarinets....fucked horn solo(UGH) horn playa here.......WAY to loud......wow trumpet guy....#fail.....n y do u stand wen u solo..???wow sry guys down

  • Trumpet MAJOR PHAIL!!!

  • Not enough flute... I play flute..

  • Clarniet part is soooo much fun 2 play @2:28

    hehe i love it!

our band teach says this is the best song we play:]:]

    soooooooo much fun:]

  • oh.... failed trumpet solo. :/

  • I played this last year. I absolutely loved playing it. It's so amazing. Either the soundtrack is off or this band isn't paying much attention to the director....

  • i love this song! w00t i play 1st bassoon :-P this sounds a little rushed 2 me though. my conductor does the beginning slower

  • they solos sounded kinda rushed

  • A few trouble spots but overall this is a job well done

  • i luv this song so much im a 7th grader and im playing the timpini part tonight at a concert =D

  • the french horn and trumpets messed up badly at one part but still good my middle school is playing this playing bass guitar for it!!

  • I love this piece so much. I can play the clarinet part, the trumpet part, the saxophone part, and the french horn part!

  • Good bari sax.. i play bari sax. a little more louder..

  • Ohh my God! i love this song i played it my sophomore yeah in band for festival =]] We got 1s

  • :) Gold at Canadian Nationals! One of my all time favorites! I'll never forget this song. Beautifully written. GO SDSS!

  • Nice song, but be attentioned!

When they play forte it's to bombastic!

The chambre where they're playing can't catch the sound very well...

The gay that plays the oboe has to stand on his two feet, he can use his whole diaphragm

  • Koolio

  • Hi! My Middle School Symphonic Band just played this song at the University of Georgia, and I have to say that your band was completely out of tune. Also you were all trying to play too loud and so you sounded blastly. Mostly the french horns and the trumpet solo near the end. Nice try though. :)

  • I think it got a platinum

  • @Scimix really? it must have been the camera. sorry dude. the band had a great look to them though. everyone was looking very nice :)

  • we played this for our middle school wind ensemble and we got into a state contest!!! We rocked. just saaying ur rlly out of tune.

  • We are playing this in my school for the winter concert!

  • play more piano, not so loud please, well try

  • was this the finale?

btw pretty good. while it's not a perfect performance, there were moments where the band did shine, so kudos!!

  • nossa essa regencia ta matando a musica!!!

  • ha i played this last year and we were just like amazing but this just is sad.....fate of the gods is such an amazing song and they are killing it.

  • You mustve been amazing, but what is this "song" you speak of? Are there lyrics to this PIECE that i'm unaware of?

  • @PurePoison12 You're cool.

  • @PurePoison12 Smart alec ... This PIECE is great but it is getting killed by this band. The french horn especially. My seventh grade brother played a better sounding Fate of the Gods than this

  • @PurePoison12 There are not. However, they butchered this one.

  • @PurePoison12 hahahahahahahahahahahaha everyone calls music for band a song not a piece. but you are technically right. just a little overly strict about it.

  • I played it too and we win the gold, they just play it too loud..

  • Comment removed

  • tempo seemed to be dragging alot

  • ummm the director sucks im sry..is not much of the band but if u want to be good oyu have to play as a group not as individuals theres not "i" in "team"...and umm ms.conductor plz practice u need it

  • honestly, the band as a whole didnt sound bad. i think its the conductors fault. shes not keeping the band in time and she just doesnt know who to conduct in general. like when to go fast, slow, loud, etc. im playing this for my concert. im the tuba part. and they are "okay"

  • so bad....

i never heard such a bad band...

most of the solos are so bad...

i can't hear it another time...

such a nice song and such a bad band!!!!

  • 2:00, , might be recording but snare seems two loud the ambiance is broken.,2:44 needs to be faster. this is a crucial interlude leading towards a battle that could decide the fate of the world! also solos seem very rushed and not played with unique tone. also 6:30 cymbals are rediculously loud. now the good stuff. i would say that for the most part, they played well. notes were in the right place, that type of deal. percussion was noticeably best section giving a strong performance. good job!

  • that sounds really good

  • so nice

  • you guys did a fine job, And dont listen to all of these MORONS on here who only point out the bad things in the video and none of the good things.

  • Ur snare drum sucks!

  • they were dragging the tempo... they should look at the conductor more

  • The clarinet section was NOWHERE NEAR angry enough at the fast bit, they are supposed to be shredding.

  • The French hornist needs work....

  • @dimsimlord That's certainly a strange way of spelling "the entire band"

  • Hallo,

also der anfang ist leider viel zu schnell, zu unruhig zu hektisch!

    Es steht Andante misterioso!!!

    Der Spannungsbogen ist nicht gut!!

    mit gutem gruß

    stefan

  • my band is playing that :D i'm first trumpet so i have the last two solos. I love this song and you guys did a wonderful job. :]

  • I wish the Missouri Bandmasters Association would allow us to play this song again. One of my favorite pieces of all time.

Maeght 13- Don't worry about losing, this song will all but hand you a victory save the case of something going horribly wrong.

  • my band is playing this song and goddess of fire next month in a competition :D we hope this will be our 5th victory in a row!

  • the band is very good but it is my personally believe that much more could have been done in terms of extending phrases of solo's ect... also in temp slow to fast so the dramtic changes. there is a part of the fast fast section that more brass is needed that is the part section of the one song and its hiding but good job with the song

  • A very nice song Jacob de Haan wrote there. I played with him once and he is a very cool man. And a great Composer!!

    well played ;)

  • This song was commissioned for our school, this is the first time we're going to play it in three years.

  • I'm so excited! This kinda reminds me of how we did when we played it this morning. Our director had gotten mad at us for not being on time, but by the time we finished playing, he seemed more intent on perfecting our playing. Flutes had to fix their posture, trumpets and trombones had to stop playing into their stands, and blah, blah, blah. He doesn't care how we sound 'cuz we're pretty good, he wants us to look nice for contest this spring and stop the bad habits.

  • Do you think that a middle school band could play this song?

  • Actually, we have already. Viking Middle School Symphonic Band, 2005.

  • Our school has a 31 year reputation for exceeding standards. We've had two songs commissioned for us by Steven Reineke, and we have a two meter long trophy line to back it all up.

  • If your Band has been that good for that long, SURELY your Director has taught you that trophies are nothing more than meaningless scrap metal......? Tangible rewards like trophies are only relevant for people who don't know what the REAL meaning of "winning" is. Hopefully you and your peers have been taught the difference.......

  • I know one can! Im in the bellevue middle school symphonic band and we just got this peice this year

  • probably, it is A LOT easier to play than it sounds.

  • Do you really think that those "bad habits" have more to do with how you look than with how you sound.....?

  • Nope... After our teacher made us focus on one section of the song for two weeks straight and I realized that Jynx and I sucked at that one part, I think it's how we sound too, but we're still making progress. We have until may to work it out.

  • I'm just proud. Our school isn't exactly one of the most well-funded ones in the area. Most of the arts departments are self-supporting. I just feel good about our reputation and have to work hard to uphold it.

  • drums and percussion et cetera are too loud, you can hardly hear the melody parts, dreadful.

  • i am totally in shock that they let the flutes have horrible posture like that. thats horrendous.

  • what are the notes in the slow elongated trumpet solo? the one after the oboe solo

  • There's a trombone horribly flat in the beginning :/ But hey! sounds good for a middle school band!

  • im playing that in december. im principal trombone and a freshman from roslyn high school on long island, ny.

  • niceee job, i played this as a middle schoolerrr we played it in a music comp. we sounded pretty good for 6th,7th and 8th graderss, this was one of my all time favorites to play(im a percusion plpayerr) we always were of on the snare part lol, but overall good(:

  • NIce!...i Gotta play that 2 on december 17th Of The Hempstead High School Band in LI N.y

    i play alto...so i gotta play the harmony At 2:13-2:43....pretty hard 4 a freshman!!....

    But Nice though.

  • wow, what a coincidence, i'm in the west hempstead high school band and we played this song last year lol..so weird that we're in towns like right next to each other and we watched the video at virtually the same time. i also play alto, btw. and this was my favorite piece last year. :D

  • That's right. You'd /better/ zoom out to show the percussion.

    ;D

    I love this band's concert dress. <3

    Very nice performance.

  • i am in 8th grade, and we are playing this peace!!! its pretty tricky. i play the trumpet, and i have both of the solos!!! i cant wait to play it on our next concert!!! i love this song!

  • this song is supposed to tell the story of the norse gods from the creation all the way to ragnorak. great job.

  • Cool song! I'm playing timpani for this song tomorrow for an honor band, and I wanted to get a feel for the song first. Very nice!

  • wow. that oboe solo is ubercool. great playing.

  • im in the Port Chester High School Marching Band

and we're playing it this year but its WAY different than this

i'll try to upload a video of us

  • I saw your show when you were at Panther Creek.

  • Panther Creek?

    AMGNOWAIZ. <3

  • I play too this at NICOLAS-GATINEAU High school ! I play Barithon ...

  • I played this at UNCG summer camp this year. At about 2:45, five tubas and two bari saxophones, we totally rocked it. :D

Proud to play tuba when there's songs like this in the world

  • pchs all the way

  • werd sonn

  • hahahahaha love this song tubas do rock and we kicked ass with this

  • tubas all the way

  • hi...which country is the band from?

  • America.

  • yay I wanted to hear us play this again!

  • played this with my school band

i played all the trumpet solos XD

  • I played this with my school band yesterday. A lot of the playing sounds off, but over all, nice job. :)

And I never noticed how long this song really was.

    YAY BASS CLARINET! :'D

  • You probably have a different arrangement of the song.

  • now that i listen , there are a few parts that need a little work. but you are very talented. we had one kid play all the percussion except for bass and snare.. that was funny. and great to watch. our players for the solos were alot better too.

the conductor is funny the way she conducts. but over all. nice job. lol

  • my school band did it this yea. it was amazing, very much like this. nice job guys

  • Articulation was great! Everything else was great. The tempo was a little different at times from when my school played this song.

  • Very nice performance of one of my favorite songs!

Perhaps it's just the resonance of the chamber in which you performed, but the part at 2:20 seemed a bit overplayed.

Your timpani seem tuned a little sharp, but I could be hearing things.

Very well done on both the trumpet and oboe solos in the "pretty" section.

During the "battle call" trumpet solo (around m180), is it just me, or does every French horn I've ever heard flub a bit there? Ours did, and it seems yours did as well.

  • The timpani solo at the end was, in my opinion, not prominent enough. Nonetheless, a beautiful and powerful ending.

Very good performance of a very good piece.

  • flutes off tune. a flute early. trumpet totally screwed up his solo. your trombones arent great, but better than ours. i like the tymphany set. yes, i spelled that wrong. its supposed to be a sax solo and not a clarinet solo. phasing? needs a little work. other than that, its decent. better than what we've done to this piece. hahahaha. dont worry, we havent performed it. if we had, it woulda been slaughtered. hahaha.
  • Flutes "Off tune"? You can't even insult people right! I have no idea where you're hearing the flute early. Trombones are fine, and it they're better than yours, you don't have room to say anything anyway. That's not a clarinet solo. It's not supposed to be, anyway. That, my intelligent band friend, is an oboe. Phasing wasn't a huge problem. If you haven't preformed it, you have ABSOLUTLY no room to say anything. I suggest you gain some knowledge before you disrespect a perfectly good band.

  • Wow, that is so weird, I played clarinet, and bass clarinet in band, and am currently playing tuba. My real love however is for piano. But all are great instruments.

    -The Flash

  • i love this song, i've been in my schools bands for about 8 years, played clarinet, bass clarinet and tuba. Loved this song on all those instruments

  • This is incredible. But my grade 10 class has to do it. There is no way in hell it will be as good as this band.

  • these guys did a good job

my school band needs to practice alot lol

but im wondering why measure 180 [where the trumpet plays what sounds like a battle call]

    is always a problem.......

  • Hah.

    The oboe player is adorable.

And he got the solo perfect.

Damn my oboe skills. I need to practice.

  • he is adorable.

thank you for being like the only

    one who noted that.

    =]

  • Isd it just me or does the begining sound like the song they play when you get on the airship in Super Mario Brothers 3?

  • i noticed that too!!! lol

  • sounds like the stargate theme lol

  • not to mention phasing.....

  • holy shit your trombones suck balls, im sorry but holy shit tune.

  • I looooove the oboe solo. =) It's played really well. And at least you guys have an oboe player. An alto sax plays that solo for us. I think you guys played it nicely. ^^ I mean, it wasn't perfect but hell, it's pretty good. And yeah, just don't rush and play with clarity. ^^ Good job for the percussionists.

  • wow not very often do you see the CONDUCTOR rush... lol

  • we are currently playing this song in our band. i thought this group was horrible, it was to fast, not good dynamics, the trumpet solo in 6:15 he messed up BIG time!! they rushed way to much and sounded crappy, the oboe solo was good!! they need to slow down and work on the dynamicas,, this is the worst i have heared it ever, they sound like what we sounded the first day of getting the music... they need to practice more and slow down

  • god we played this when i was in high school two years ago and man this song brings back so many memories. Loved the trumpet solo in this it was very fun to play. This song kicks ass.

  • i may be speaking out of turn here, but this doesn't FEEL (huge emphasis on FEEL), like a very difficult piece. fufu is right, it does feel rushed at some parts. i honestly don't have the air capacity to play a song that would last 8 minutes long, but this song could've been done much better. i also didn't feel that much emotion being put into the song, it just felt like it was being played.

  • french horn!!!OMG>>> TOTALLY CANT MAKE IT....excuse me conductor, what r u rushing for????u rushing to market to get the best deal??? u ruin some part seriously... sorry to say that.... this piece is not played in this manner...professional trumpet player playing the SOLO...well done..but that trumpet trombone and horn solo, is a disappiontment....good change over of climax towards the end..overall, its just a FAIR BAND.....

  • we are playing this song for our spring concert

  • same here, im playing first trombone

  • i played the trumpet solo at 6:05 at my spring concert

  • that was good. we are playing this song in band. timpini xD

  • Can anyone see an alto clarinet or a contrabass clarinet? I play both.

Awesome performance! my band won regionals with this song.

  • It only sounds good because of the sheer size of the band. The backgrounds are too loud and some of the melodies are not being played correctly or at all (e.g. grace notes). Plus they're rushing like a woman in labour.

  • oh my gosh my band is playing this song! I love my alto sax. 1 part!

  • WHO IS HOCKEYPROS!? I AM IN YOUR BAND I WAS AT KIWANIS =D we rocked got gold for saint peters :)

  • haha, just played this at the kiwanis today with my band : )

  • awesome oboe solo!! oboes rock!

  • OMG this is the song my concert band is playing for my high school BEHS woottttttt this song rocks XD

  • lmao, were playing this song in senior band now too.

p.s look at my username lol

  • Out of the 8 years I was in band, this was my FAVORITE SONG ever. Most beautiful Oboe solo I ever got to play.

Wonderful piece... it's an honor to perform it and hear it.

  • i played it too, and our orchestra played it much better

  • I played this song this year during contest

  • very good

  • the percussion r really good. They have good dynamics. our band has trouble w/that

  • im in middle school (7th grade) and my wind ensemble is playing this song. I play 1st chair flute...My band teacher likes Steven Reineke alot. We also played his Raging River and Where Eagles Soar. Fate of the Gods is fun!

    Go South Brunswick!!!

  • Hey do you have Mr. Perillo, cause I'm in south brunswick Wind enssemble to!

  • ...and u r...

  • btw sentul678 im not 1st chair in dis band so u probably won't no who i am. the rest is true though.

    "internet stranger safety"

  • I am in the third row flutes. I understand about the whole internet saftey thing. I don't really care if you tell me or not. I was just wondering.

  • My high school played this for the spring concert last year, and the lower sucky band played it for festival this year.

We did alright last year, except for the chick who conducted it... She gave 1st trombone to the guy who sucked just because she liked him the most, I got stuck on third (still tore it up) and the guy who played first had to get the guy who played second to help him, and when they couldn't play stuff, I had to play it. *cough* solo *cough*. yeah.

  • lol!How much people was in your group?Because my school band will play this song and i,m the only trombone in the group, help whit euphonium. It's hard because I can't follow anyone...well.That's happen when we are only 42 students

  • lol our band only has like 19 people but we can still make a nice sound with this song

  • when my band played this, we had a lot more solo parts, i had 3 myself (Euphonium/Baritone Horn) but i didn't see one of those in this band, and it sounds like those solo's were dispersed into the trombone section

  • lol i hope i dont slip up my trumpet solo like he did.. tht sucks though.. wrk so hard then wen u perform..mess up... gj though for keeping on going.

  • Cooles Lied spielen wir auch gerade

dES tROMPTEN sOLO ist super natürlich die ganze Kapelle

    Respekt

  • Woo! Go oboist!~ I love this song. At least you guys play it better. Our band is having trouble with this. It's not even that hard to play. Or at least the flute part isn't. lol. And you guys actually have a fair amount of percussionists. We only have one! T__T
