I wish I would have been able to see one of the shows using AR! It is very hard to get the full effect, I'm sure unless one is in person. Still, I love it!
Models exported from 3D Studio Max, Maya, and other programs often contain data that a AR renderer cannot use. The trick is finding what you can and cannot export. If you can find someone that has strong 3D export plugin programming skills, they may be able to help you determine what guidelines you should follow for exporting successfully to an AR scene. I'd also suggest searching user forums and tutorials for guidance.
