  • Every 20 seconds a chil die on the cause of filthy water. Please don,t support those evil capitalists who are a danger to the future of our mother earth!

  • This is a very brave man. Even in the 19th centuy comerades Marx and Engels said that capitalism can,t go togheter with nature.

  • It's hard to explain in a short video, but Joel Kovel's point is that what we see happening today is not a mistake but is built into the system. Capitalism is a cancer. It's an economic system that endlessly grows and exploits. It creates a powerful ruling class that refuses to be regulated. Land and production both must be placed under social ownership.

  • There is nothing wrong with capitalism that a 100% socialization of land value via the land value tax suggested by Henry George over a century ago wouldn't cure. Land is not capital and capital is not land. They are two completely distinct factors of production and the refusal of both right and left to make this distinction has created the false dichotomy between labor and capital when it is obvious that labor and capital are at the mercy of land, i.e. those who monopolize the earth.

  • Capitalism does not equate to a rapacious harvest of resources. It does equate to the accumulation of wealth by investing funds into an activity sufficient and efficient enough to get more out than went in. The ignorant capitalist would not work out a sustainable pattern, but merely exploit materials to extinction. Public pressure can teach the ignorant to become re-creators, not destroyers. Extinction is wrong! Replacing what's been used is sustainable and should be part of the business plan!

  • Amazing video. I do not have a problem with the captalism itself, but I do have a problem with extreme capitalism. Once we get overproductive, overconsuming, and as said in this video "feel the constant pressure to expand", we override all ecological issues in the world. And that is one big drawback of capitalism

  • where do you think the constant pressure to expand comes from? a few bad apples?

  • Great video! I really like ecosocialism. I saw the word for the first time this summer, and have been reading up on it sporadically since then. I agree with most of the views of Mr. Kovel except a few, one being the total non-violence thing. It seems to be all or nothing for him on this subject. I'm still new to the pool so I will take it one day at a time.

  • I hear ya on that. I don't know how things will pan out in the States when we hit the fuel crisis and civil unrest starts to spread like wildfire.

  • Lenin once said: "A man with a gun can control 100 that does not have one." It is the same with money. A man with money can control 100 that does not have any.

  • This man needs to be heard by more people, he is brave as those who exploit man, nations and the earth, do not enjoy argument that involves truth and shows them for what they are, insane and the true terrorists to mankind and nature, all that is spirit, they worship material and materialism as it provides for them and weakens others, they are those who destroy everything they can not control, mainly peace.

  • This was an amazing video.. Thank you!

  • Great video. Thank you!
