@Parwaz786 Oh my, I have two dogs so the bin fills rather quickly! But it's mostly pet hair and dust... I'm amazed at how much dust these things get, and how clean the HEPA filter is when I check it. When I first got it I was marching down to the dumpster to empty it every time, because of my allergies, but now I just dump it in the garbage and try not to stir it up too much. :)

@Parwaz786 Haha I was so confused!! But now I realize that it's really smartly designed... except the lack of a release. To kick it back you have to step on the base. That's a bit weird.

@lisasimpson yep i find that dysons are the best bagless vac in the world :P:) i had loads my best one was the dc07 allergy and you have a dc17 animal there i wish i had a dc17 so badly it gorrms carpet so well! but unfortunately they dont do it here in the UK :(

@ree4160 It was a Sharp. Sharp stopped making vacuums and so replacement parts were expensive. I was already using Hoover bags in it because they were a bit cheaper, but when the belt went kaput I posted it online under free stuff and some repair dude came and got it. I bet that Sharp has a few more years in it, once you throw a new belt in there at least!

Be prepared to spend a pretty penny! I hope over the long term it's the best decision. I think so, just because my old bagged vacuum really lost suction and it would work so much better with a new bag. Now I have a vacuum that just works. :)

Oh Jake it is such an exciting piece of equipment! I'm finding it really easy to use, it's a well-thought-out machine. Plus it actually does get a ton of dirt, I was surprised to see what it got up! And it really does clean the air, it's got a nice hepa filter and it didn't make my apartment smell like dog, like my old vacuum. It's really smart!

Well I don't have to vacuum every day or anything but truly I try to hit the main areas every other day, without moving any furniture or anything. Deep cleaning (moving chairs and such) honestly needs to be done around here at least every 10 days, so I was really feeling icky! haha

Well, with two dogs in the house it gets a little crazy, so I like to run it over the general traffic areas every other day, and then whenever I get a chance I will move things around and vacuum underneath. Otherwise I am drowning in dog hair!! With one dark dog and one light dog, their hair shows up on anything and everything!

Oh boy is it ever!! I can't believe how well it cleans, too! Remember, I hadn't vacuumed in 10 days, so when I came home from work I did the whole apartment and ended up filling the thing up several times. This morning, I woke up and ran it throughout the entire apartment, and it barely picked up anything so it's does a thorough job. The dogs are still scared of it though!

The first time I ran the vacuum with Chico in the house, he peed. I vacuumed with a bunch of treats in my pocket for a week or two there, and I would just throw him treats as I cleaned. He still doesn't like it but he only peed that once!

Well I haven't used every vacuum but there's this vacuum collector here on youtube that helped me seal the deal -

tristarcxl - he has like a million vacuums and hated Dyson but got this model and found it to be a tough competitor against some of his industrial vacuums! If you are into vacuums I highly recommend his channel. Otherwise, no. lol

I love my Dyson, too. It converts so easily between the carpet and hard floor settings, and when on the carpet, it really sucks up a scary amount of dust. Also, it helps that they look like a cross between a jet engine and a Ghostbusters gun. ^_^

When I clicked "confirm order" on my Dyson, I took to twitter, nervous about how much dough I just spent. You really helped me restore the confidence in my purchase that I had just before clicking. Thanks for that, you helped me out of that stage in lightning speed and allowed me to be excited! And omg does it suck up the dust! With two dogs I had to do a little research and the more I read the more I saw the Dyson Animal coming up. A close second for me was the Bissel Pet Hair Eraser - I think they sell those at wal-mart for like $170? It's a bit more affordable than the Dyson line but had slightly more complaints than the Dyson Animals. I looked on craigslist for one but they were all sold already and I needed one ASAP! Look on CL if you have time, you might find a Dyson for super cheap! :)

Dyson cleaners looks rather futuristic. I've got DC23 and I can say IT REALLY SUCKS!

The only thing I hate about it is that the bin loses transparency because of  microdust that can't be washed away. And the cleaner itself generally can't be washed! aaaah!

Hrm I think I might heed your advice and wipe out the bin every now and then to try and keep it clear. Do you think that might make a difference? I was taking mine apart last night looking to see how to wash it and it seems the bin on mine separates from the cyclone part fairly easily, maybe a quick scrub in the sink every now and then would do it?

Oh I am so jealous! With Chico's disability, we need to have a carpeted place. I have area rugs in the kitchen, bathroom, and laundry room to help give him traction - without them, he falls down all the time. But what I would do for some gorgeous hardwood floors.

Unfortunately, I will always need a carpeted place because Chico needs the traction. His balance is greatly compromised on smooth surfaces. I even have rugs in the laundry room so he doesn't fall in there!

That's actually one of the reasons I bought the Dyson, because I know I'm going to need a vacuum as long as I have Chico.
