  • Awsome man and song, rip chris from laramie wyo

  • Chris Ledoux was one hell of a man. I was able to see him live about 15 years ago, he rode the mechanical bull during the show and everyone tossed copenhagen cans on stage. For being 15 years old it was crazy. I live in Idaho too so your video rocks.

  • Sit tall in the saddle hold your head up high

Keep your eyes fixed where the trail meets the sky

live like ya ain't afraid to die

and don't be scared just enjoy your ride.

    -Chris LeDoux

    ..

  • Wish Mr. LeDoux was still alive. Powder River Let 'er Buck!

  • @JRHero22 POWDER RIVER! LET'ER BUCK!!

  • If youve' traversed across Western New Mexico You know the feeling, and it's truly Glorious. The Western Skies are really majestic.

  • if you've been to the northwest.....or wyoming....or idaho...you know what he's talkin about. it's a magic part of this country. can't wait to get back there. someday...............................

  • I love the song and the video is sensational!! I've been to Wyoming and there is absolutely nothing there but dirt and bramble bushes!! Montana on the other hand,if you go up into the moumtains is very, very beautiful!

  • Great job Trina from Colorado

  • aint nothin like livin beneath those western skies.

  • this is like my favorite song ever :)

  • Who could possible dislike this song? Seriously, that had to be an accidental click of the mouse as it moved accros the screen. A tear would slowly fall off my face if that ever happened to me on a chris ledoux song...

  • south, west, east, north, who gives a damn... shut the fuck up and show the man the respect he deserves. Ya yello belly cowrdly sorry excuse fer cowboy posers.

  • maybe I'm depressed.

  • Southern people can't handle cold weather. He may have been born in Mississippi but his home was and still is Kaycee Wyoming..

  • who is the prick who dislikes this song wtf is wrong with you this song is awesome

  • Chris is from Mississippi....Anyhow, this song really reminds me of Nebraska. Second greatest state in the whole goddam' Union!

  • Love the video!

  • Used to live in Wyoming, and afterward visited every year. I will never forget those trips. Wyoming is an incredible state.

  • Chris Ledoux is the best!

  • He was born in mississippi to!

  • Who in the hell would dislike this???

  • Chris learned to ride in TEXAS not Wyoming. Dumbasses.

  • @xXWinchester73Xx Only people left in Texas are the leftovers that couldn't hack the drives to the good northern range.

  • @72milesman

I'm tired of Texas taking all the credit for everything.

  • This is a great song!

  • totaly discribe why i love my home town in texas God bless Yantis tx

  • i personly knew Chris and he was the real thing this song will be played at my funeral as at his

  • I love the song but It should be southern sky.

South carolina boy until the day I die

  • Yes all, don't move to Idaho, Washington or Montana go to wyoming and wreck that state. leave our fake skies to us.

  • @agalaxychild wyoming sucks

  • Great video. This song means a lot to me, as it represents the beauty and awe that I experience every time my truck points west. I live to for those mountain sunsets and those rolling fields in the moonlight.

  • I think it's really funny how much shit people talk, and how there is NO meaning behind it at all what so ever! Who gives a fuck about the pictures behind the music, they're all in the western states aint they? Chris was one hell of a man, he was represented the cowboy way of life better than anyone I have ever seen! I myself ride bulls for a living, I own a 50 acre ranch in cali, and thoogh it aint much, I'm only 21, and I've done it all my own, and I'll live the cowboy life till I die!

  • @themotoexpert which will be about two weeks, until you and your silly willy cowboy buddies challenge you to a standoff (;

  • @themotoexpert Was the profanity really necessary? I agree with your comments, but the four-letter words did nothing to enhance the meaning.

  • Chris is awesome and y would some one do a video about Washington Idaho the man lived and ranched in Kaycee Wyoming Wyoming Rulz

  • Amen squeezersause.... You nailed it, when a true cowboy speaks, you best take it to heart

  • Chris lived in Wyoming, but he was born in Biloxi, Mississippi on October 2, 1948. He was a cowboy in the real meaning of the word. He rodeoed, loved life and lived hard.

  • DL the audio from this video at soundnabber doht cohm.

  • March 9, 2005 Requescat in pace, you will be missed Chris

  • i love your music dude. You will surely be missed.

  • cowboy is cowboy no matter the hat shape or the style of yer leggins or the deffinition of a fine pony but cowboys are humble and proud not quick to become angry and slow to say whats on ther mind and watch ther mouth in front of the gals and thery are surly not worked up over were the pictures were taken in a video on the intenet box.

  • justin jensen from wyoming grew up on ranch 20 mi out south of buffalo hwy 87. this cat chris ledoux was my fuckin neghibor. thrity miles away. 307. no idaho, no washington, no montana!!!!!, kaycee wyoming, not the cow boy state, but the Equality state, country boys like there open space.

  • people people people.... jeeze all come to wyoming and learn what its about. its the best country state, live in the mountains wake up.. get some coffee. have a cigar. ride horses thats what lifes about live it fun and happy like chris. :)

  • @8te8ter1 not every one takes the whisky ride bro. you sound like a tourist.

  • @jensen4567 if i'm a tourist then how come im from cody, wyoming 82414 hmm??? ur probly a person who just dosn't like to have fun so. im sorry if you think that but it's not true. And yes i know not everyone takes the whisky rode. but that dosn't madder it's just the way some songs make you feel.

  • Great job on this video. I had a girlfriend from Wyoming once who had met Chris at one time. I eventually made it out there and got to see some western skies myself. Thanks for the post.

  • love this song have to agree with chris ledoux except burry me beneath southern skies

  • God I love Montana summers

Wont leave here for the world...

  • Thumbs up if you're from Wyoming.

  • @therustymuffin HElll yeah wyoming is for the world!!

  • @bjwarfel Actually if you want to get technical, he was born in Mississippi and raised in Austin, Tx. But it doesnt matter, he was as western as they come. I was born in wyoming, but somehow ended up in MN. But Mr Ledoux, was the last of an already rare breed. Most of these people will never be able to write and sing songs like he did because he lived what his music was about. there isnt a song of his that doesnt set a picture in my mind about what the song is about. He was a true artist.

  • Damn !!!!! this song makes me miss home in Southwest New Mexico. Only 2 more weeks yall, plus CLedoux was great at telling western stories

  • @air720 alamo

  • I think chris is right :)

  • Chris Ledoux is from WYOMING! Not Idaho, Washington, or Montana!!!! Go Cowboy state!!! Kaycee WYOMING!!

  • @bjwarfel I remeber when i had my first beer! Get over it its a song and he just took pictures to go with the song

  • @bjwarfel chris was born in mississippi

  • @bjwarfel god bless wyoming. only been through once. but it's fuckin beautiful.

  • @bjwarfel

who doesn't know this song is about Wyoming??? He was a Powder River Cowboy!

  • @bjwarfel the west is the west...

  • @bjwarfel So, Post "Song of Wyoming" with some nice photos from Wyoming. I would love to have that song on YouTube, and I'm not tech savvy enough to know how to do it myself.

  • Chris was an ultimate renegade. Couldn't and wouldn't sit still. Should a man work long hours through thick and thin because his heart tells him to; then yes, this man would understand the cowboys life.

Chris paid tribute to the ability of stickin with it, stead of walkin away. Points out reasons for stayin, and plants a message that counters current pushes for becoming a "star", or the "rich and famous" attitudes.

"This old hat" should be a reckoning for everyone to pay attention to.

  • @flutternut4756 well said!

  • I grew up in Tennessee. I now live in the Bitterroot Valley of Montana. I believe a man ought to do the right thing because it is the right thing to do, not because some lawman or preacher says so. I believe a mans word is a contract. If a mans word is no good, then a contract with him is no good either. I've bought and sold cattle, horses, tack trucks and land with just a handshake and an agreement. I work generally 70-80 hours a week. That's the real cowboy way.

  • @Hawk6DM And I enjoy rodeos, don't beleve it is cruel to animals and enjoy a good steak with my potatoes. If y'all dont like all that...Well, you know.........

  • every one wants to be a cowboy... dont mean to be arrogant but i think half you never been on a horse... i grew up a working cowboy long hours and low pay.. use to rodeo rode bucking horses... it was the freedom going down the road having chris ledoux on the radio... i have a uncle thatsa world champion won in 95.. he rode with chris in the seventies.. chris was a good man a honest man he said...

  • Chris was like the North Star..You could sail your ship by him..A true mans man

  • Some of you really don't know what the hell you are talking about. I am former rodeo cowboy now turned fishing guide. I know and knew Chris from days back when. I know his kids they have been to several shows I rode in ( bareback broncs) He was a very good guy no attitude nothing I spent several times sitting with him conversing about the days back when. He is the ultimate true meaning of a "Cowboy" from the boots to his grin. So some of you need to shut the hell up and quit running your mouths.

  • GOD BLESS CHRIS LEDOUX, AMERICA & LIFE!!! THERE'S NOTHING BETTER THEN THE WESTERN SKIES &....WELL HELL...NOTHIN'!!

  • a cowboy isnt made, it isnt taught, it comes from the heart. you start early ends late.after the stock is feed you get to eat your always tired, your always sore.never rich more or less your always poor.but as i said its in the heart so who is poor? and who is rich thank you Chris for filling our hearts

  • nice-thanks

  • Stayin in beautiful Colorado FOR LIFE

  • A song of Clint Blacks talks about how a melody can bring back memories. Nothing but great memories listening to Chris Ledoux. Miss his concerts.. RIP Chris Ledoux, one of countries all time greats!

  • you forgot COLORADO 970 for life.

  • @copenhagensmile02 glad to see theres more than a few of us out there brother! WILD WONDERFUL WYOMING!

  • definatly Idaho GOD's COUNTRY lived here my whole life!!

  • What a great song. So sad that he had to go at such a young age. I'm sure he's still lookin at those western skies from up above!!

  • wyoming born and raised, just like the man singin. god bless.

  • im from ne texas where the county pop. is 10,000 and the cattle pop. is about 25000. im a little bit of bout southern and western. and i lov it :) this is my friends profile

  • Yeah. There's Boulder and Denver. And then there's the real Colorado.....

  • His best song!

  • Born and raised in Montana, loved the pic's.

  • THATS WHERE I LIVE PEOPLE. and i love this way of live.. enjoy it while its here..

  • "And when I die you can burry me....beneath these Western Skies" I'm sure he is. RIP Chris LeDoux.

  • Great song, says it all even up here in Alberta and BC.

  • this is by far my favorite country song of all time by my favorite country singer, you are dearly missed chris.

  • I was nine years old touring the chutes at the daddy of em all. Saw Chris sitting under the stands strummin away, got his autograph. Saw him play with Garth on more than one ocassion. I love his music and he is sorely missed. Maybe ill see some of you folks at the 2010 daddy of em all.(I love Cheyenne.)

  • Just cuz u say yall dont make u country u dumm ass and if u think its about that ur a complet dumm ass cuz it aint and ur most likely the worst 1 of all a wanna b

  • I hope I never see the day when all the farmland is paved over for cities and shopping malls. Thank god for country life.

  • idaho is a great fuckin place to live

  • @Wudner34 you know it

  • chris ledoux was amazing! i love his music!

  • love the pictures they remind me of home

  • trina, it was cool is any of those pictures of puget sound in WA

  • god bless chris ledoux

  • Jlohden I am in Wind River Country right now. I can see the Wind Rivers from my kitchen and dining room windows, beautiful today. Listening to Chris Ledoux, eating breakfast, and looking at that view, there is nothing better in this world right now and no place I would rather be.

  • That song with those pictures gives me the chills.

  • Long live the west!

  • I feel fortunate to have been able to see him in concert before he passed on to ride the prairies of eternity. He will be missed and he went on too soon.

  • March 9th marks the 6th anniversary of his death. Please call your local radio station and request his music that day . Let radio know that we will NEVER forget him.

  • This video makes me miss western Wyoming. I never thought I would say that being a native Texan, but after being back here for a year I would love to see a Wyoming sunset and the Wind River mountain range frome my front porch again.

  • Too bad Colorado looks better! haha

  • very cool. I live in Idaho & its awsome

  • I used to live in Idaho!!! I loved it there!!!! I miss it SOOOO much! It's SOOOO beautiful there and I'm TOTAL country girl!!! ;) But my mom wanted to move where most of my family lived. I miss you Idaho!

    <3

  • this is a great song. He's talking about wyoming. NOT Montana or idaho.

  • haha. as he was from Wyoming, it doesn't mean his road trips (concerts, rodeos) to Montana, Idaho, AND Utah didn't inspire him. What where those lyrics?- I'm leaving old Salt Lake, with a push and a pull. BTW, the title IS "western skies" not "Wyoming skies."

  • Also, check out This Cowboy's Hat video. Where was he? The Dee Event Center- in Utah. Where did he perform a lot back in the day? Lagoon- Farmington, Utah ;)

  • I live in salt lake, and I hope to move to the country as soon as I can. Chris Ledoux did Like Utah too. RIP Chris

  • reminds me of being back home. atleast i get to enjoy the most beutifull land during my summer season. never forgot how lucky i was to meet chris 5 times and the last he remembered me. he was a good man and will be missed. god bless these western skys.

  • Reminds me of home, grew up in eastern Oregon. Thanks

  • man people need just grow up everyone is a cowboy?cowgirl in therre heart and leave it at that just comment on the video and just honner chris good video and awsome pics

  • great pictures, great video and of course great song

  • yall are right the first comment i left was not name callin but i retalliated and i was in the wrong sorry

  • Im from PA and I respect folks thats because i grew up on a small farm.

Most farm kids got manners Id love to go out west. But right here is where I grew up and I wouldnt trade fer anything

  • boy yall be makin chris nrite proud ifn he say the crap yall are puttin up on here. theres real cow counrty from texas to montana n cali well to kansas anyway n the southeast. yall sayn yer real cowboys u aint even close, aint a 1 of ya has any manners or respect

  • If ya'll consider the facts, I don't believe any ya'll are true country, nor Cowboys, or respectful Southerners. proof is in all the ignorant rambling ya'll are typing, cowboys, ranchers, and pure country is about god, respect for others, and family. YOU ALL ARE DISHONORING CHRIS WITH THIS BULL PUCKY! R.I.P Chris you where a good friend!

  • Yep. Seems like a lot of folks are runnin' around these days acting "country". Drugstore cowboys. It's like they're trying to show how "country" or "cowboy" they are. Where I come from, real cowboys don't have to prove it. We say our prayers, treat ladies with respect, and take off our hats when the flag comes by at a rodeo. I don't even go to rodeos anymore because so many of these "country folks" show up acting cocky and rude. They won't stand or remove their hats when the flag comes by.

  • I know what you mean... I totally forgot I had my hat on once at a Clay Walker show, and the anthem was played with Marines marching. Someone reminded me I had it on, and boy did I feel like a heel. I dont know why these teens and 20 somethings have no respect anymore, but I know most of their parents did. We'll get it back one day. God blass the Cowboys, Farmers, and Ranchers!

  • Amen....

  • @Hrtbeat1

I find it amusing that Southerners attempt to imitate western culture don't you?

  • @Linkster2o I'm from Texas and i'd like to say im more western than southern

  • @Linkster2o

Not really, considering the south was settled first.

  • @Linkster2o Actually I find it funny that you don't realize that the west was most likely settled by Southerners. The South was settled long before the west. When you consider that, it's not surprising at all that the west and South are alike.

  • @Hrtbeat1 About what god? Which god? Really? Stop your stupid ancient superstitious nonsense! This is 2010 and all gods are dead/gone!

  • @Intiminator99 All YOUR gods may be dead and gone, but God is not! I feel sorry for you.

  • I am not true country, nor a Cowboy or a respectful Southerner. All I know is I grew up under the Western Skies this great man sang about and will forever remember Chris LeDoux. Yippie Aiii

  • @clrknjnnc watch the canadian version of western skies, go to my channel

  • @Hrtbeat1 No offense to Mr Ledoux but what do you think outlaws did?

  • @Hrtbeat1 your right sir there is to much disrespect in todays so called cowboys. now ima redneck but if i called my self a cowboy i would be dishonouring the name. i will say this. just because i dont like all these kids pretending to be cowboys doesnt mean they aint out there some where i know they are. doing what they do best.

  • @Hrtbeat1 VERY Well put!

  • kirst1973 and where exactly are you from??? must be a yankee only stupidasses and a queer would come up with that kind of shit. oh yea, thats 3 and not 2......... stupid yankee

  • Pretty!! thanks for this video!

  • Awesome pics, except for the wires and fences. Kind of hard to escape them I suppose.

Liked the song, of course, I've worn down a couple of cassette tapes of Chris', too.

Thanks for your efforts. Great job!!

  • im proud as to be from the great state of wy and i would never trade it for nothing

  • thats right very proud to be from wy myself and very honered to have known such a great man as Chris RIP Brother

  • this song about sums it up. Kaycee and the Powder River area is beautiful, there's a remote campground west of Kc past the famous "Hole in the Wall" that is to die for.

  • Wyoming is where chris ledoux sung about alot, for good reasons. This is where he was talking about, great song!

  • I took my first pronghorn out by Kaycee back in 2005... I love it up there! If I could move somewhere under the great western sky I definitely would.. trout fishin, mule deer, among many other things, doesn't get much better than that!

  • Comment removed

  • Too bad they left out the pictures of Colorado. The real west. There is not a better place to be.

  • yeah but colorado is overrun with ex California Libs... great state, but too many Libs

  • I have heard that many times... I've never been to Colorado actually. I hate skiing and thats all I hear is there. :)

  • @BaptistKitty Then you have never heard of the colorado i know. Endless plains blue skys. Ive thought of this song many times while on our pasture or on the range hunting. look up the Pawnee grasslands. thats colorado at its finest and as chris says you have to be where you can see those mountains from the plains....
