Thanks MrMattsboy. You present an interesting contrast on your Channel with the body builders in the forefront and then the Wagner! I enjoyed your clips of the Bayreuth Ring of '65, I alternated with James King in '66 as Siegmund and was scheduled to sing the Siegfried the following year with Wieland. Sadly he died that winter. Wieland thought my acting best expressed his grandfather's intentions. Are you a singer or body builder?
I love seeing this open-air Tristan movie, and you are a perfect Tristan, Mr. Heater, both as a singer and an actor. And to finally see a handsome man as Tristan--Wagner would have loved you!
despite his religious wanderings, he is indeed a fabulous Tristan. (Better had he stuck to the old ways of the celts, I'd say, at the time of this...! More about love, and less about hate.)
anyway. Lovely to hear the sensitive singing, rarer than it should be..
@gwirgalon Was your comment about 'religious wanderings' directed to Tristan? Thank you for a most interesting comment...the director allowed me to improvise the whole scene. It is truly disheartening to see what they do in today's productions. I saw the worst staging ever of Tristan in Seattle recently.
@tantris3 Very honoured..It is a joy to watch and listen, would have loved to see live above all, or better yet, have the pleasure of singing with him. The Seattle was ? Are they all just jealous of the beauty of the thing in itself that seem to compete for attention (some directors) instead of open a way towards the music itself even more.or shout through it. This music is made to be sung like this, like Mozart arched a bit longer, but maybe from my own original background as Mozart singer that

@powercopies I agree. It has been 45 years since I sang that Tristan. I just wish I could go to a production today and see it reflect the composer's wishes. I worked with Wagner's grandson Wieland at Bayreuth as Siegmund and he told me I was the only Wagner singer that he permitted to do his grandfathers stage directions.
Heater is the best Tristan of all times and a truly great singer, the likes of which may not be seen again. He is also a great actor and the movie needs to be available so the younger generation can see what opera, particularly Wagner is at its best.

I feel Wagner is becoming closer to me as I get older.

I have been checking many different Tristan und Isolde film. But I must say that this is the most artistic, visually and musically done film. Bravi!

This is an impressive singing-actor . The 'Helden' repertoire seems to sit very well in his voice. Is the whole film available?
