  • SO I was told some time ago I had "severe cervical dysplasia". WHAT is that exactly? I'm so hi strung that I KNOW I would HAVE to be sedated for the colposcopy-SERIOUSLY. I carry no insurance as I am a single parent and been waiting over a decade any child support. Im not at poverty guidlines so no state help-just another one to fall thru cracks maybe. Im scared of cancer it runs in my family like wildfire. My paps have always been 50-50 normal to un. what does one really do?

  • @MissRedrum78 Colposcopy is no more difficult or uncomfortable than a pelvic exam when performed by a physician who knows what they are doing. "severe" dysplasia is not serious and can be dealt with without a LEEP etc. A surprising large number of severe dysplasias will disappear but colposcopy MUST be performed.

  • And just FIY to all, after leep surgery I've never had any issue so far. As far as sex go, Im doing just like the old days no pain at all. So this month Im going to visit my new doctor and get papsmear done so Im expecting everything is gonna be fine and hoping to have a better experience as well.

  • So its been 5 months after my leep procedure and I still havent visit my obgy. Im in the process of looking for a new doctor and I would definitely share my experience to them just to give them heads up to imform those first time patients to what to expect and how the process is done and how much it could cost if your insurance doesnt cover.

  • >>and the doctor walk out the room and came back after 5 minutes. And told me not to worry about anything and I need to get ready for surgery. But they still bill me for $600 balance and 5 months later I received $1300 bill from pathology specialist! So Im still upset because the whole procedure pretty much cost me about 3k out of my pocket. I know its my health but I wouldve been more prepare if they imform me what to expect and check my insurance coverage before procedure.

  • >> so I said I dont have $600 right now and you guys shouldve told me ahead of time and not in last minute! First I had no idea what was the charges if for but they said my insurance didnt cover some of the procedure or somthing. So i was pissed, hungry and nausea and feel bad for myself. So I went and talk to the doctor and told her that Im going home. I dont feel like you guys cared about my health. You guys obviosly only want your money and I was gonna walk out until the head nurse

  • Thanks to everyone response on my comment! Btw, i had the leep surgery done after ive been diagnosed with sin3. Here is what pissed me off, so the day of my surgery the front desk handed me a bill from my last biopsy. Asked me to pay the $600 first before they can check me in. But before that I also recieved a bill from pathology specilalist for $800 which I had no idea that it was gonna cost me a lot and they should've told me to check on my insurance first before I went to get the procedure

  • What Sylvian says is true. Few Doctors know this and are overly aggressive with this problem. The chances of having true cancer is very small and in the hands of a well educated health provider is nil, providing the patient also cooperates.

  • PLEASE google 'unnecessary paps blogcritics' and read, read, READ

This is NOT a 'minor' procedure, it is often unnecessary (as HPV resolves itself over 90% of the time) ... this procedure causes various problems that can lead to infertility as well as problems carrying a child to term.

So many women have allowed their cervix to be mutilated without really understanding the risks ... and that Cervical Cancer is RARE!!!

  • I just had my abnormal pap smear and had colposcopy procedure a week later , So i got a phone call today and they got a result , its pre cancer but need to remove all the bad cell asap ! Theres going to be another procedure I just dont know what they call it and I hate when they call me because they dont give you any information what should I do to prevent it or anything

Weird I never had any bad pap smear before so i dont even know what to expect next

  • @Kitte111981 your doctor will perfrom either a techniques called cryosurgery that I invented or LEEP which I modofied to make safer .NO rush to treattment as these precencerous changes seldom advance very fast, i.e. years. Make sure that you Doctor has performwed 50 such patients as success is directly related to experience. Currently I use the bodies own defences to eliminate these problems with same success as removla or destruction. and no side effects.

    gtood luck.

  • LEEP conizations can cause Vulvodynia, nerve damage that can cause horrific pain where women cannot tolerate insertion of anything into their vagina or chronic vagina and cervix pain. Their sex lives are ruined from pain. Most Gynecologist study the organ and not the neurobiology of women. Some women have more nerve endings in the cervix than others. So if you enjoy sexual pleasure when your cervix is bumped avoid a LEEP procedure. Feeling good sexually is importaant to overall well being.

  • @medicalevaluation I find it hard to believe that a LEEP that I no longer find necessary, may cause Vulvadynia. The LEEP only removes a very small amount of tissue and I have enever had a pt complain of decrease in the sexual response. Many are concerned about the disease which has a major impact on their response. It's the psychobiology tha timpacts the women.

    Dr.T

  • @medicalevaluation It depends on the depth of the conization. Many women who were researched at McGill University have become vulva cripples. Also, a woman lets say who has an innervated cervix, she knows this because she has orgasms by the cervix being bumped, is more at risk for cervix pain. A cone of 7.5 centimenters can cut pudendal, pelvic and hypogastric nerves. Much has been published on this by neuroscientist such as Beverly Whipple, Karen Berkley, and J.J. Collins all PhDs.

  • I just had the cone done on Tuesday. I find it very appropriate to have it done in a hospital rather than a doctor's office. It is something you should be knocked out for and given the time needed to recover instead of being booted out of a doctors office. Thanks DRTJCT but its more professional that way.

  • @MsTippieToez Why have a cone done at all? The dysplasia usually clears up on its own even with high risk strains of the HPV virus. However you may do fine if you do not feel when your cervix is bumped as other women can who do have problems with LEEPs. It is an out moded method of treatment for women, but most physicians only learn and repeat what other MDs teach them in medical school. They do not conduct new research because they are not PhDs. Dr. Townsend is exceptional in this.

  • today i got back from my colposcopy nd biopsy, it was so bad! i hope i dont have no cancer or any hpv.i may think i have an hpv,my husband was havin an affare.why do i have to suffer because of some ass? thats always the question. i try to take it easy i cant be going silly or nuts. i ll have my test results back soon i really pray to god it is nothing bad! women and men out there go get the gardasil shot, just to be on the safe side! who would know that this could happen to me???? it sucks bad!

  • Many many woemn have HPV. precancer is no big deal. I've been seeing women since 1967 with HPV and it is over rated. Treatment is simple with superb results using natural products and NO surgery or destructive methods. The Gardisl vaccination does little to protect and may have to be repeatred in a few years. NONE of my patient sor familt will ever get the Gardisil. It is NOT necessary!!!!!!!!

    Dr.Townsend

  • After an abnormal pap smear it was recommended I get a cone biopsy. I'm going in 4 surgery tomorrow.

  • If the cone is being done in the hospital it is unnecessary. Cone should be done in the doctors office.

  • Yes it is being done at a hospital with GA. Why go to the hospital if it can be done in the doctor's office?

  • Get another doctor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @beennamedIcy Research from the CDC shows that gynecological procedures and hysterectomies are performed more in the South than anywhere in the country. See Dr. Stanley West's Webpage to more easily access the data.

  • @beennamedIcy Get an HPV test first and always.

  • @drtjct In a reporting from Fierce Bio Research, Gardisl caused the HPV in women.

  • I have had abnormal paps since I was 24 (almost 7 years) after only ONE partner. I was also born with an immune system deficiency. Now they are going to to the LEEP, and I was warned today that my dyplasia is the high-risk kind of the virus. They told me I may have a hard time becoming or staying pregnant (infertility and miscarriage), or carrying a baby to term. I have also had endometriosis since I was 12. I do not want to do this LEEP thing. is it really necessary??

  • I was just told my biopsy results. They said I have severe displasia and that I need the LEEP procedure done. I'm so confused though, the first thing I asked my doctor was if this LEEP procedure could affect future pregnancies (I have no kids, but am planning on in the next few years). The doctor simply responded "no." But I'm hearing everywhere else that the LEEP procedure can affect becoming pregnant as your doctor told you NeskaBean. I am being lied to so I wont skip out on the procedure?

  • I just got it done it kind of sucks. I was kind of nervous too. I just posted a video about my experience

  • yes it is i just got it done and posted a video it;s quick

  • @NeskaBean Because when your cervix is compromised or in simple terms coned out like apple, it cannot support a child and also in some cases women have had pelvic floor prolapse. Sometimes women must have their cervix's stitched to go to term. Read the book by Brook Shields. Endometriosis is a separate thing, and if a doctor says you need a hysterectomy, it is an old method and easy treatment for the doctor that may not take care of your cramping.

  • i did an abnormal pap test, did the colposcopy and biopsy, than the result was negative for hpv, so i had only a inflammation...so the doctor did not find that it needed to " see and treat", as they call treat the abnormall tissue while doing a colposcopy, so it depends on what he sees is big or not....so normally depends on the doctors view of your cervix while looking at it

  • when you get a coloscopy and they find something wrong, do they treat it right then and there or do you have to set up another appointment and go in again?
