My recovery from religion is going terribly. I have tried to not believe in God but it's so hard to hold all those irrational atheistic beliefs. I keep relapsing. Maybe hard drugs will help mess with my rationality.
What aspect of irrational atheism do you have problems with?
Is it the open-mindedness, the independent free inquiry, the skepticism, the methodical questioning of one's personal views to see if they hold up well, the notion that if God could have created himself or could have always existed, the universe could have created itself or always existed, and that the notion of God philosophically creates lots of questions but doesn't really answer any?
You seem to be misunderstanding the issues. Not having "fatih" in the existance things for whichthere is not evidence of is inheriently rational. The universe clearly exists and it creating itself is non-sensical. Gods is such a are such a diverse topic from the terraforming bearded sky giant of the jews to the lightning throwing zeus or even Ra masturbating into a lake to make the world. How are ancient myths related to the universe beginning?
@philippides Not those things, it's more the incoherence, the contradictions, the fallacies, and the plain old fashioned self deception. Apart from those things, I think atheism is a perfectly respectable belief system.
@TooManyTights Atheism isn't a belief system; it's one 'no' answer to the question "Do you believe in [specific] god." So I'm guessing you're an atheist with regards to Zeus. And Mithra. And Odin. See, you're one of us! You just also accept another god we don't.
@ReligiousFiction Atheism is the rejection in the existence of deities, period. I am not an Atheist according to other religions, because I believe in the one true Deity, God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
@ReligiousFiction Atheism IS a belief system. That's why there is an 'ism' at the end. And people are still peddling that whole 'you're an atheist with respect to Zeus' thing....?
@TooManyTights actual an 'ism' specifies the word is an adjective...nothing more. It changes it from a proper noun...to an adjective. Like colloquialism... or running or helping.... all adjectives.
And you need more help than we all thought if you don't know the difference between a verb, noun and adjective.
noun...person place or thing... atheism is not person place or thing...thats atheist
an adjective is an attribute of a noun...
so Darwin is a noun.... Darwin-ism is an adjective... since it an attribute of being a Darwinist... eg 'the Darwinist biologist'...the biologist is the noun...the Darwinist is the adjective.
eg. the atheism of a mouse... the mouse is a noun...the atheism (being the thing the mouse is, or is doing) is an adjective.
Either way.... I think you'll find that lack of a belief in something is not a belief.
So there you (noun) have it, the opinion of atheism (NOW ITS A NOUN) on grammar(noun). of course I had to pretend atheism is a person place or thing there...its not...its a property...or attribute of something else.
So if there ever happens to be an 'atheist church' (duhhh).... then the 'atheist' would also be an adjective there. As it stands the two are mutually exclusive so its pretty much impossible.
@TooManyTights So atheism the belief which entails not having a that belief? Do you think this is possible?
Thats like a round wheel that has 4 right angles and equal lengths to its sides? It looks like a square, it has all the properties of a square... it looks nothing like a circle... but here you are insisting its a bloody circle!
Apart from bullshit in the bible that needs you to reinterpret it for it to make any sense...are you now also reinterpreting the bloody dictionary?
@TooManyTights Hmmm... as I said if the word atheism is a noun it really must be a thing... unless you think its a person or a place... so what thing is it? Go on... sure there are plenty of dictionary sites online... lots of them... you'll find the definition right beside the word... go on... show me how wrong I am...
@LiberacionIgualdad The movie 'Thor' will be out soon that'll be cool... although I get the feeling we might be waiting a while for the movie 'Mohammad'!
If you can chose to be; kick`d out your job, family, friends and community for coming out as an atheist. Or just be quiet or even participate in fanaticism and be loved and accepted. No wonder statistics say aprox 85% of Americans are religious.
Whoa listening to him made me feel happy I didnt have to go through what he did. I never lost any1 over the fact that im an atheist since I was brought up in a secular society. Just thinking that you can lose some1 over something so meaningless.... Thats why humanity must rid itself of this cancer. We really dont need another reason to hate eachother.
I'm so glad it wasn't a traumatic experience for me. My family was never really all that religious, especially now that my sisters and I have all found our own ways. A lot of religious people say that their beliefs aren't a religion so they can try and separate themselves from the organizations that traumatize people and indoctrinate children with threats of hell, but it's all the same crap. It's all bullshit, and it's bad for you.
@daileydevotion Without proof, without evidence, trusting just your own senses (that are proven to be totally flawed)? I'm sorry but you are advocating for something that will make NOone be able to differentiate what's real from what's not real.
@daileydevotion We have NOTHING to repent for -- it is you who needs to repent, for trying to traumatize vulnerable children with your made-up threats. You are the opposite of humility, and you should be ashamed for failing to distinguish between divine revelation, which doesn't exist, and symptoms of your own mental anomalies or disorders. Focus on healing yourself and leave others alone with your silly, pathetic nonsense until you grow up and get a clue.
This is terrible! Recover from salvation??? What is this all about?
It is appointed unto all men to die, after this comes the judgment! You can deny God all you want, but know this; there shall come a day when every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus is Lord. Those not written in the Book of Life will be cast in the Lake of Fire, into everlasting destruction. Ask yourself, why am I alive, or why are any of us alive?
@daileydevotion We are alive because we bound. We bound because we want to have love, and want do be good with each other. And the only way to do that consistently is with KNOWLEDGE. And the only way to get knowledge is trying to take away as many false claims as possible from our databases.
I'm sorry to say but your god(s), or any god(s) for that matter, are the source for our morality, or will of getting together and do good. They are in each one of us. No god(s) needed.
@TemporalOnline Morality cannot be absolute without an absolute God.
Murder is wrong not because you think it is, or because I think it is, but because God has written HIs law on our hearts, that we might know right from wrong, without having to debate what is relative or not. Abortion is rampant in America, A.K.A. -Legalized murder of a quarter-million Americans every year- You must repent, and believe, or the is no hope for you, or anyone who rejects so great a salvation! I urge you.
@saintpine hey...he did cure lepers... so what if a few billion dies of smallpox, rabies, syphilis and typhoid?... so long as a rarely retransmitted, obscure disease is cured in a handful of nomadic tribes people thats all that matters!
And its an example of what one should do with the ability to cure everyone... you should cure only a handful...thats the moral thing to do!
@daileydevotion Morality is the collective, subconscious code of behaviour, established and agreed within a human social group. It varies from group to group. It is not absolute. It comes from man.
Mate, you are 18, you have seen little of the world. How can you hope to have done the research necessary to substantiate the over-simplified religious dogma you espouse?
@daileydevotion Your god doesn't think murder is wrong. Or have you failed to read most of the Torah and Old Testament? God frequently murders people, and often calls for the Hebrews to murder people.
@daileydevotion Why am i alive? Why are you live? Simple your brain has made you who you are. That is how you as in the person exists. Your body and such are from your parents. Neither of those are choices you made but forced upon you. That is just a way of explaining it they are not literally forced on you but metaphorically in a descriptive way as in no matter what you will have both done to you without a choice but it is not a god who gives you it. Salvation is damnation as far as i see it.
@daileydevotion I would glady do back strokes in the Lake of Hellfire than have to spend eternity with ignorant simpleminded folks like yourself! However, there is no worry of that because what you profess is nothing more than Bronze Age Mythology. Sorry, but all gods, including your god, his son that is really him but not really & that friendly ghost character, are all creations of the human mind! Deep down you this is true. Later.
@Viracocha711 It is frustrating to always hear Atheists speak of Christians as simple-minded.
I do not insult your intelligence or attack you as a person. I am only telling you the truth because I love you.
Would it be loving of me to tell someone in a burning building to not worry, and just let them burn? NO!
It WOULD be loving if I told them they were going to be tormented in flames, and I also told them how to avoid such torment. Jesus Christ is the Way the Truth, and the Life.
How can we NOT think you are simple-minded when you say things like we are going to be tormented in flames? You believe our souls will go to hell and that hell has fire...but our bodies will be here on Earth rotting in a grave and I will not have a nervous system in tact. So I can't burn or feel heat. So I get to live for eternity with people like Bertrand Russell, Hunter S. Thompson, Bukowski, Bill Gates, Hitchens, Dawkins and Einstein and we'll have plenty of light. ; )
What an extremely aggressive thing to say. "Believe my dogmas or burn". And you people wonder why atheists get so angry at you. You don't have truth, you have a bronze-age myth and a lack of intellectual honesty to ask yourself why you believe it. You sir/madam, are a passive-aggressive knucklehead who thinks that a beatific smile and a smug "I'll pray for you" sentiment can hide what a repugnant world view you have. You and your ilk are why we can't have peace in the world.
@Textra1 Out of the mouth comes the flow of the heart.
I don't wonder why Atheists get angry with me,Jesus tells His disciples they will be hated for telling people the truth. If you love someone, would you lie to them and tell them the building they are burning in isn't on fire.Or would you warn them and say, STAY AWAY FROM THAT BUILDING, CAN't YOU SEE IT'S ON FIRE? I'm not hiding behind a "I'll pray for you", I really meant that, because after telling truth to someone, I can't make you believe.
@Textra1 Also, it isn't me saying that, but my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He is your Lord and Savior too, and He offers you the free gift of salvation today. If you but admit that you are guilty of sinning against a Holy God and deserve eternal punishment. And then accept forgiveness of your sins, and acknowledge Jesus as Lord, and the Bible says you shall know God, and God is eternal life.
@daileydevotion What reason do we have to believe you? Most of us have minds that require evidence before being convinced of things, especially extraordinary claims like the ones you are making. So, from a standpoint of evidence, what have you got to convince us? Just telling us we'll burn is not likely to do anything but bring a retaliation of ridicule, which you've probably already observed.
"Also, it isn't me saying that, but my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ"
WOW! You actually believe you are speaking for a deity. I guarantee that IF there is God, he will be completely disgusted by the audacity of your words. Jesus said to go tell the world about him, not speak for him!
This just proves my theory that God = You. And that is why anyone who disagrees with you will "burn in hell". It's possible you need therapy. Maybe Dr. Winell could help you...
@Shayrah I repeated a Bible verse, you are pretty angry with me about that I see. That's completely fine. Revelation 20:13-15 "The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged each one according to his works. Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire." I can say I speak for my Lord, when I quote His Word.
@daileydevotion You would think the same thing of anyone who called on the power of THOR or Apollo or Shive or Viracocha...Your Bronze Age mythology is no different than all the other mythologies out there and the gods associated with them...They were all created in the minds of human beings! Your god is no different!
No one is going to burn in eternity or walk streets of gold after they die...When they die they will be dead...No different than before you were born!
@Viracocha711 My God is greater than any other. There is no one like Jesus. No other God, before the turn of the time A.D. and B.C., had a Messiah which was crucified and rose again on the third day. Especially no other God has promised to come and live inside those who accept Jesus Christ and be a guide to them on this earth. I can't explain to you how real God is to me, but I can only hope you will seek truth for yourself.
@daileydevotion OK...Not only are you very young & misguided but you have no idea about any other religion but the one your parents told you was real from the time you were able to listen! And yes there were many gods who died and rose 3 days later...That is based on astrology & was very common back then! You need to got o college & get a good education & you will see just how naive your world view is right now! Good Luck!
@Viracocha711 I am in college actually, and none of my views come from my parents.I had the guts to search for truth for myself without any preconceived notions.I urge you to do the same, and you will truth. Also regarding Gods who were crucified and rose again in 3 days, name one before Jesus' time.If you are referring to Zeitgeist, that film has almost no credible sources, and over half of it is fabricated information.
/watch?v=JFI6m6Icav4,be enlightened. BUT I WARN YOU, you may learn something.
@daileydevotion Mythology is mythology...Science is science...I have to ask, Is it the your fear of dying that causes you to abandon any critical thinking about Christianity that you apply to other religions/mythologies? That is understandable as that is the primary reason people want so desperately to believe there is an afterlife. However, that in no way makes it true. There is 0 evidence of the supernatural in any form whatsoever! So, I am not going to lie to myself & act like there is. WHY?
@Viracocha711 I'm not living for God so I can avoid Hell,or even so I can go to heaven. That would be selfish and my own will, and not in Jesus' footsteps in the least.I live for God and love Him because He first loved me. I want with all my heart to please God and to do His will.God gives you purpose and true meaning when you give Him your love and devotion. His Holy Spirit will come inside you and you will know true joy, and will no longer have to lie to yourself and convince yourself I'm wrong.
@daileydevotion The one who is LYING to himself is the one who choosing to invent reasons or adhere to Bronze Age writings as reasons to believe in something...If you show me the evidence for a creator I will listen...This is the difference between you & I I follow the evidence you have chosen to adhere to the first major religion you ran into. You want there to be an after life & this is why you have chosen to abandon all critical thinking & go on BLIND FAITH. To say otherwise is dishonest!
@daileydevotion Also can I give you some free advice here...clearly things are not going according to plan for you here... let me tell you why I think that is.... the people you are talking to are all very likely to be better educated then you... so if you get the feeling they are treating you like a dumb excited puppy then you are probably right.
Right now you are trying to explain to a professor of physics why radiometric dating doesn't work... do you not see how utterly silly you look?
@MumblingMickey Proverbs 13:1, " A wise man heeds his father's instruction, but a scoffer does not listen to rebuke."
That sums up why my attempts are failing; it isn't because you are any wiser than me. In God's eyes we are both foolish. The foolishness of God is greater than the greatest wisdom of man. So you can say all you want about being "educated", when you are really a fool in God's eyes, and only a fool says in his heart there is no God.
@daileydevotion My father knew almost nothing compared to what I know...so that phrase isn't even partially correct.
I'm not scoffing...i'm pointing out whats occurring to you here on this page... you are losing...and losing because you are not armed with enough information or education to hlde your own in a debate... i'm advising you to GET better at that before making a fool of yourself again.
@MumblingMickey The phrase refers to everyone's Father, and that is God. God is your Father and He doesn't wish that any should perish, but that all would come to the knowledge of repentance; you rejecting His rebuke, reveals how foolish you are. THIS IS NOT MY OPINION, it is the Bible, and I take the Bible as God's Word. So when I see people denying God after being given Truth, I can only deduct that they are fools in their own hearts, whether or not they are wise in this world.
I've read the bible...the god featured in the bible is as thick as a brick!
Certainly nowhere near my intellect. It even thinks that electromagnetic radiation (light) can exist without an electromagnetic source of electromagnetic radiation...the sun!
When i know full well thats totally impossible...
ergo I'm a shit load brighter than the dingbat character portrayed as a god in the bible.
@MumblingMickey In your own eyes, sure.I've given you all the complete truth, and I am done trying to convince you. You can say to yourselves"I beat him, he gave up, we win!",but on that day you will simply hide in shame from the wrath of Jesus when he returns to judge the world for what they've done. We will all be held accountable, even Christians, and each one will be judged according to his works.Repent and Believe the Gospel,I urge you to seek the truth with an open heart, and you will find it.
@daileydevotion I'm not going to bother asking you to 'give up' quite the contrary.... I suggested you went out and read all the science that you think proves your point... thats inciting you to do more...not less!
Maybe spend some of the time you spend reading the bible finding out if its content is possible! Clearly you have a big problem with that bit! But it can be rectified...just read up.
If I was inciting you to do less I'd tell you to shut up... instead I'm telling you to read more!
@daileydevotion You will also notice that until this comment nobody here has asked you what you are doing on this particular video.
As I said we have all spent a very long time learning how to think critically... We don't have a book to run to that will tell us how to behave or what to think.
However you have youth on your side, plenty of time. Don't waste it.
@daileydevotion And maybe you might like to use words (semantics) in relation to their dictionary definition.
eg. At the outset of this conversation you insisted your belief was based on faith...which is knowledge in the absence of evidence... thats fine, no problem.
But now you are also insisting that this belief (based on faith) is also 'truth' which is knowledge WITH evidence...well which is it? It cannot be both, they are mutually exclusive.
@MumblingMickey I my lose in this world, and that's fine; the things of this world will all perish and pass away. But, God's Word will by no means pass away. I'd said learning more about the real truth that is God is more important than the things of this earth. I could care less how much a fool you think I am, I am a fool to this world; because you can't possibly understand with your human mind how God exists.
@daileydevotion Fine have a goal... read the actual science... it won't hurt will it? After all...we all read the bible... it didn't turn us into raving religious nuts did it?
What harm can it do?...and you'll be better placed to assert your ideas about how radiometrics don't work!
After all the people who told you that must have read how it works themselves.... so if they read it and it done them no harm then it'll have n effect on you knowing how its so inaccurate...ehh?
@daileydevotion Thats the problem....you don't actually understand things... certainly not 'eternal' things ...since eternity is 'infinity' and just a mathematical construct. It does not apply to time. Time is finite...there is a certain amount of the stuff...and thats it.
If you actually did know things about 'eternity' then you'd know it cannot exist in the universe due to the fact that time is in fact finite and increasing. Obviously there can be n increase to something thats infinite!
@daileydevotion And don't give me this...'ohh but god is outside the universe'
There isn't even any scripture that states that...the bible has god operating in a linear timeline at all times, even making mistakes and correcting them...which would not be necessary if one had powers of retro-causality. ...and 'OUTSIDE' the universe is as stupid an idea as a 'one ended stick'
And its pretty funny really...God does not have retrocausality yet we humans have demonstrated it. So much for God.
@daileydevotion These things you were told don't apply to most of us here.... they just don't... it'd be like you going back in time and trying to persuade a monk not to burn a woman at the stake since she can't be a witch....
You actually know that.... but the monk isn't educated well enough to know...he'll go on about how shes possessed by demons and the evidence is she floats.
So we sort of look at you the same way...uneducated and rather silly. We know too much to accept total idiocy.
@ReligiousFiction I've been trying to explain to him that he's arguing with people who had in fact read the bible... he's under the impression he 'knows it all' ...and is probably dumbfounded as to how we know all this stuff?!?! And why his arguments (such as they are) are falling apart like paper boats...
Either way what he will learn is that most people he's arguing with here are massively better educated than he is! If thats all he learns then its at least something.
@ReligiousFiction I only followed what I was told in Proverbs 26:5 "Answer a fool according to his folly, Lest he be wise in his own eyes." I'm not throwing out judgments, I'm only responding with reasonable statements in my own defense. When someone attacks my intelligence, I stated that we are all foolish in God's eyes. Even the Bible says that the fool says there is no God. How would you interpret that? I don't run around calling people fools, I merely responded to how he responded.
So my advice is this... at one point the guy in the vid mentions that he decided finally to 'show' all those nasty atheists he was right and actually read the 'real' science and not the 'Christian' science sources.
He'd was tired of atheists knowing more than him so he'd PROVE they was a God after all the Christian science sources got their information from the scientists right?
So you should read the real science and prove us all wrong. Then come back and whip our asses...ehh?
@Viracocha711 Let me answer your last hypothetical question with a question.
Would you rather spend appr. 75 years living for a God you had faith existed and had faith that He would freely give you eternal life, or would you rather spend 75 years living for yourself and being independent, and then find out that there is an afterlife, and that you have to now spend a eternity separate from God's love, from happiness. A place where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth?
@daileydevotion Last reply...OH the ole "cover your ass faith" LOL! or "Pascal's Wager" look it up it is a very old idea to which I see no point in. If that was the case I should adopt many different religions to cover all bets! It makes no sense?! Had you been born in the middle east you would be a Muslim or in the far east a Hindu or Buddhist & so on! You just happen to be in place where Christianity is dominate. Hell is no dif than fairies & unicorns..They are all mythology!
@wordavee Once God gives you a new heart and you become born again, then it is your joy to serve the Lord.
Obviously, one who is living in the flesh and not alive in Christ cannot possibly want to worship God. The first step is realizing God exists and humbling yourself, coming to repentance(turning from old ways, sinful ways), and accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Nothing we do can merit us salvation, it is a free gift, but you must have faith.
@ReligiousFiction God is all-knowing and no one can know His purpose. God knows ahead of time whether or not a nation is going to repent, and turn from their wicked ways. Back in the days of ancient Israel they were ruled by a theocracy, a government that God heads. The battles they fought were physical, because they were under the Old Covenant. But, when God sent His Son to die on the cross, He began the New Covenant. Now our battles are spiritual, no longer fighting with flesh and blood.
@ReligiousFiction Many times God would give these nations a chance to repent, like Sodom and Gomorrah, but did they? You look at it from God's perspective and all He sees is a nation of reprobates who have denied their Creator, and even refuse to repent when given the chance. God created Hell not for mankind, but for Lucifer (Satan) and a third of the angels that fell with him. Mithra's resurrection wasn't recorded before the time of Jesus, and neither was she/he crucified.
I've always found it strange that several of god's personal angels, who presumably had no doubt that god existed, still rejected him and rebelled against him. They chose life on earth with human females, rather than live in god's presence, which says a lot for sex, and not much for god!!!
@wordavee Where in the Bible does it say that angels had sex with humans? Your views are very misguided...
The angels rebelled because they wanted to exalt themselves above God. Lucifer fell because he tried to get worship for himself instead of worshiping God. This says a lot about selfish desires, and blatant rejection of God's love, then it does about God Himself.
@Shayrah You misinterpret that passage, as I thought you had. Sons of God are the children of the godly line of Seth(Adam's son), daughters of men are people that are from Cain's ungodly line. The word used for giants in the original Hebrew text means "bully" or "tyrant". Also if you'll notice in verse 4, in clearly says these "giants" were around before the sons of God took in daughters of men. Also in verse 3, the Lord states that these men were indeed flesh. I do read my Bible, everyday.
You might enjoy a series by brettppalmer on Giants of the Bible here on YouTube. I am not talking out of context. Listen to your apologists and the scripture...but funnily enough, you are admitting straight off that it is a ridiculous notion. So, in a way, I already win.
@Shayrah You are taking it out of context. Sorry sir, I'm not going to watch that video, I did not come to enlighten myself, but to bring others in. You can read the chapters 4-6 for yourself and even go into Isaiah and other prophets that show God refers to His people as His children, thus sons of God. Giants may have existed, but they were around BEFORE sons of God took in daughters of men, it says so CLEARLY in verse 4. Giants, like I said, could mean large people, and/or tyrants or bullies.
Thanks for showing you are close-minded. and not willing to learn anything. Giants did not exist. There is NO proof whatsoever and yet they are all over in the Bible. There is no way they could have survived at the heights the Bible claims they are and there is no archeological proof.
SONS OF GOD (I thought God's only begotten son was Jesus) HAD SEX WITH DAUGHTERS OF MEN...how is that human sex? Satan and his followers were also called God's sons...
@Shayrah In order to refrain from debating that same passage that I've already interpreted correctly for you m'am,I'm just going to leave you with this final truth, and you can believe what you want. But when that day comes, you will curse yourself and the heavens, wishing you would've just opened your eyes to the world around you.Everyone on this comment stream is an Atheist I see,but that is fine because I go to where the Gospel is needed.Jesus is the only Way,Truth, and Life, Repent and believe!
So your final argument is that I can't interpret the Bible correctly. Ooh, good one, you are a master debater (lol that sounds sexual). What exactly should I repent for and what exactly would I believe in? You can't even tell me which actions are sins or what REALLY happened vs. metaphorical fairy tale. I don't even think you know what you are talking about. What Christian does?
@Shayrah You've rebelled against God just like we all have, as it says in Romans 3:23.
We are all guilty of sin, and thus deserve death (spiritual). Repent of your unbelief and wickedness and accept Jesus Christ as your Savior and that He died for your sins, rose on the third day, and ascended into Heaven. Keep repenting of sins and keep believing unto the end, for Jesus says, "He who endures to the end shall be saved."
"Repent of your unbelief and wickedness and accept Jesus Christ as your Savior..."
Don't tell me what to do, ya pinhead!
You must be a noob. You got a lot to learn about evangelizing. That is NOT the way...I converted so many people to Christianity in my day. But I did it with love, not threats.
You attract more bees with honey than vinegar.
Maybe your God will punish you for not spreading His Word properly. Better be careful, he gets cranky at times...
@Shayrah You asked what exactly I am supposed to repent from and believe, so I told you...
As far as YOU converting people, YOU never converted anyone. You may have gave them truth, and they in turn may have made a decision to accept Jesus Christ, but that doesn't mean they were converted by you. I am not nitpicking, I am only revealing to you how much pride you have in nothing you have done. I take pride in nothing I do, and we are supposed to be humble before.
I do not feel any pride for doing these things. I actually feel horrible. You suck at evangelizing although there is nothing you can say to me, I know enough to know that Christianity is Bullshit. I have nothing against belief but I hate the way you think. You claim I need to repent when I have committed no sin except disagreeing with you and pointing out how you don't know anything about the Bible. You are arrogant and YOU are prideful in thinking you are being used by God.
@Shayrah You have committed a sin, you are rejecting God, denying His existence, that is a sin! You call me arrogant how? I am merely proclaiming what is the Holy Word of God. I never claimed to be a certified theologian, but I know God is Truth and Jesus is the way, and the life. God Bless.
You will not convince people who know more than you do. You need to study the Bible and Science a bit more before trying to converse with people like us. You are arrogant because you claim you are the same caliber as your god and have the ability to tell us to repent and that we are going to a place of eternal torture. If you are incapable of seeing how truly fucked up that is, then you are less than human.
@Shayrah Whether or not you listen to me, does not reflect whether or not I am successful. I've given you the whole truth, nothing but the truth, so help me God.
@Shayrah Also, Jesus and John the Baptist both went around saying the exact same thing, Repent and Believe. I am not saying I am them, but I am saying I am not going about this any differently than it is meant to. A watered-down gospel is no gospel at all.
"Jesus and John the Baptist both went around saying the exact same thing, Repent and Believe."
Thanks for proving my point, you are comparing yourself to Jesus and John. How arrogant and prideful! Jesus said "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?" This is why you will always fail at evangelizing. You think you are better than everyone and that they should "repent". You sound like the Westboro nuts!
@Shayrah You obviously did not in any way read what I said.
I said , quote, "I am not saying I am them, but I am saying I am not going about this any differently than it is meant to." I have removed the plank from my own eye, so now I only seek to help others remove specks from theirs. And when it says brothers it means in Christ, you know Christians.
@daileydevotion seriously these are just stories and here you are trying to apologies the inconsistencies in them.
The reason you find yourself trying to make sense of nonsense is that your mind insists on its information not conflicting with common sense.
So lines like 'there may have been giants' are silly. You and I both know that theres no evidence of giants. Your only retreat there is to say 'yes but theres no evidence there aren't any' at which point I rest my case.
@daileydevotion Plus this video is about people who have realized that talking snakes, unicorns, giants, etc and other fantasy is just that. And when they went to look for evidence of it, they realized there was none.
You might reas the bible every day...but I can guarantee you never read it and compare it to things you can confirm for yourself. That would be a dangerous idea wouldn't it?
You won't see if its even possible for someone to be taller than 9 foot... again thats dangerous.
@MumblingMickey I often relate the Bible to reality and my actual life, that is the only way to make sense out of it. Otherwise it is like you say " fantasy." I interpret the Bible as literal where it literal and figurative when it is figurative, is that not the way any piece of literature is interpreted? People who look for evidence are just people who have fallen away from faith, left their first love (God).
@daileydevotion The only way to make sense of the bible is to read it...find all the bits that plainly make no sense...then look for a way around them to MAKE them make sense. That structure and procedure is called apologetics. It takes things that are nonsense and applies a logic that fits current knowledge into it. When current knowledge changes...so does the apologetics.
I can give you an excellent recent example of that if you are actually interested.
@MumblingMickey When i referred to reading things and interpreting according to daily life, I was referring to apologetics and spiritual revelation. I know what apologetics is, I often dabble in it. If you look with an open heart, and truly want nothing but truth, then I can promise you, you will find it. I've found the truth, and there is no sense in trying to convince me otherwise. I am not here to make my ways known, but the Father who is in Heaven. All glory be to God, and not to me.
@daileydevotion Why would I bother to try change your mind about anything? I have no ideas to sell you... mine cost me lot of time and money over 25 years.
So the only thing i want is for people who have ideas to keep them to themselves and take no actions that impact society unless they can show such ideas are valid. Which is fair enough.
Personally I couldn't care less if you danced through the streets butt naked at 4am! Obviously i 'd prefer you didn't do that during the school run!
@daileydevotion People who look at evidence have not fallen away from faith. eg. A company deciding how many widgets to make for the next three months look at the evidence.
Next if you are referring to me, I've been atheistic since birth, so were my parents, and my grandparents. I base decisions on the information I have access to. The less accurate information the less accurate I'll be!
Of course I don't always have enough information... but I won't go against the information I do have.
@MumblingMickey Evidence is not required for faith, but I have seen and learned plenty in my life to know that the Yahweh is the one true God, and that He really did send His Son, Yeshua Messiah, to save the world from its sins and so that they might know eternal life, which is knowing God personally.
@daileydevotion That's right, evidence is not a needed for a position of faith. So you accept angels based on blind faith you don't need evidence. That fine, no problem.
But you then go further to claim God exists... which certainly cannot be true... not according to your own reasoning. Remember you are accepting Gods existence in the total absence of evidence..
But only evidence takes a belief out of your head and demonstrates it in the real world! So God exists only in your mind.
@daileydevotion Lucifer fell because 'Lucifer' is not a person...or an angel... lucerfer is not a he...or a she... its an IT... it refers to the latin 'lucem ferre' which is the planet venus.... the morning star...
It was never intended in the bible or anywhere else to refer to anything else... yet here you are thinking its some sort of demigod or evil spirit...when all it was to start with was a planet in the morning sky... the fallen star... venus!
As I said. If heaven is so wonderful, & the presence of god so perfect, why would anyone rebel, particularly an angel, who would know for certain that "he" had ben created by god?
You may say that god gave them free will, but why would anyone choose to leave a palace to live in a slum? One answer is, some people would rather be king of a slum than a servant in a palace, but I'd say the best answer is it is myth told around the fireside.
@wordavee The angels followed Lucifer, not because he and them wanted to leave Heaven, but because Lucifer wanted to be worshiped, and to be exalted above God. God cast them out of Heaven and thus created hell where they were bound to be judged to in the last days.
As I said before, why would a creation of god, fully aware that god was the ultimate being who created the whole univers and everything in it, want to rebel?
We have to presume that:-
A) god could not make a perfect angel who would be free from jealousy.
B) Worshipping god becomes rather irritating after a while.
C) Other angels were also dissatisfied, otherwise why would they go to Licifers side and follow him just because, as you said " Lucifer wanted to be worshiped"?
@wordavee Those aren't angels in that passage, I've already explained to someone else on here, and she rejected my interpretation as being close-minded. I don't trust Atheists to interpret Scripture, I read it as it says and relate it to other verses in the Bible. Sons of God are the descendants of the line of Seth (Adam's son). Daughters of women are descendants from the line of Cain.(First murderer). They are called sons of God because God always calls His people, His children.
@wordavee In Gen. 4:26, "And as for Seth, to him also a son was born; and he named him Enosh. Then men began to call on the name of the Lord." In context this in contrast to Cain's genealogy just listed in the previous verses. Also in verse 3 of chapter 6, still referring to the sons of God, "And the Lord said, "My Spirit shall not strive with man forever, for he is indeed flesh; yet his days shall be one hundred twenty years." Clearly the Lord says they are of flesh, and are in fact human.
@daileydevotion If you read the bit about angels and rebellions and whatnot you'd very quickly realise that God is not omnipotent... anything but! in fact God manages to screw up many times in the bible...and the funny thing is the excuse is always 'mysterious ways'... but mysterious ways does not excuse observed, self confessed errors which are then rectified... but again only in linear time!
Many of these errors are amazingly stupid ones too... very basic stuff a 10 year old would get right!
@daileydevotion My opinions are the same opinions I have of big brother in the book 1984... which of course is fiction... and since I'd say that would be a terrible world to live in...yet you would think it would be a superb place to live, then most of my opinions are of you...and not a fictional character.
@daileydevotion The god Mitra doesn't need to have been crucified... there is a common thread of God being killed as martyrs and then riding from the dead to advice people further... its a very, very common thread in many religions... including Christianity.
Also how do you know Mithra wasn't crucified? He was certainly born to a virgin, referred to as the messiah, the truth, he celebrates his birthday at the dawn of the new sun...December 25th! Did you never wonder WHY that date was chosen?
@daileydevotion Mithras execution was celebrated at the same time as easter... using the same system to work out the dates... He rose after 3 days...they both preached about the day of reckoning...They both are the same bloody myth...what sort of spelling out do you need?
Instead you point to silly things like 'ohh yeah thats all fair enough, but mithra wasn't crucified ' well he wasn't a carpenter either, nor did he live in judea... thats not the bloody point!
@ReligiousFiction There are also tons of pagan and Greek accounts of the flood recorded in Genesis, do you think that means it didn't happen? Where there is truth, there will always be another story. That isn't a logical way to debunk any claim. The only thing naive about my view is that mine isn't based on man's knowledge, but on knowing the Word of God, and having a relationship with Him. God's love is overwhelming, He sent His only Son to die for the world while the world still hated Him!
@daileydevotion On the flood you won't actually work out if such a thing is possible... it says it in the bible...thats good enough for you... but at no point will you ever consider that entire civilizations existed before, during and after this flood and never noticed a flood
According to the bible it happened in 2304 BC... thats inside recoded history...Pepi II was Pharaoh of Egypt for example.. How do you account for nobody noticing and everyone surviving the flood?
@MumblingMickey There is no exact date of the Flood, and tons of other cultures have parables referring to the same type of flood during that same general period. Also the Gregorian Calendar we use today wasn't used before the year 1582 A.D.
@daileydevotion The date would have been at worst... between 2300bc to 3000bc... according to the hereditary list in the bible... either way recorded history goes back three times that... and unreported archeological history of civilization goes back 30k years... and the rest of the evidence goes back 3.5 billion years... so the margin of error in the bible is quiet large...
We don't need peoples calenders to work out the actual years.
@MumblingMickey Both carbon and radio-metric dating are inaccurate and inconsistent. It really isn't a concern to me when the Flood actually took place, that is in the past, and I believe by faith it happened. You are right to believe what you want and practice what you please, thank God our nation was founded on these principles. But, whether or not you reject the Gospel, doesn't make it any less relevant or real. We are ALL going to have to be judged one day, each one according to his works.
@daileydevotion take a look at my channel age... i'm a physicist...and I've worked with carbon since the 1980's... radiometric dating is startlingly accurate. Again my knowledge of that is personally based on experimentation...yours is based on what you were told...and what you were told is so far ff the mark we'd need telescope to identify it!
@daileydevotion Tons of other cultures including our own in the west also lived beside seas, rivers and lakes... so it'd be absolutely amazing if they did not record floods! We are still recoding them now...
But what most interesting is that a global flood as described in the bible is impossible. And yes I know its impossible...its not faith...its knowledge. If you looked at the mechanics you'd need to go off an apologies that story too! So if you believe the story doin't look at the physics!
@MumblingMickey The Bible even says that those who are not in Christ cannot understand the Scriptures, and how true it is to say such a thing! I had no clue what all this meant before I accepted Jesus and repented of my wicked ways. I was confused by all these miraculous occurrences and events, and refused to believe them without evidence. But thank God my mother was a praying woman, and I sought truth beyond physics, and found it.
@daileydevotion "The Bible even says that those who are not in Christ cannot understand the Scriptures"
yeah all religions do that... try reading a book on Stanley Milgram and you'll find out why they say things like that.. my reasoning skills are pretty well honed to be honest... so taking information from a subject who is clearly flicking the switches is only 'observed' by me... I don't bother to sit down beside them and help them flick the next switch.
@daileydevotion yeah super.... I suppose that all makes sense now...since the Julian calender puts things out by a massive 1 year every 36,500 years or about 10 minutes a year!
The difference is minuscule on a scale of centuries and irrelevant to the point I made. Going all the way back to 40,000bc it would only be out by one year.
So again how do you account for nobody noticing the flood since its inside recoded history? Julian calenders and exact dates or not?
@daileydevotion Next the 'world' didn't hate Jesus... most of the world had no clue he existed at all... 99% of his own country never heard of him... If he existed at all he was known by fewer people than I am! most of the world have still never even heard the word 'jesus' and his name wasn't 'Jesus' anyway.
You also cannot have a 'relationship' with a being you can't prove to yourself exists without being psychotic! And before you think I'm insulting you....look up the meaning of psychosis!
@MumblingMickey Jesus as a historical figure and real person is almost irrefutable by all historians and scientists. For you to even bring that up shows your baseness and lack of knowledge of known history.
@daileydevotion "Jesus as a historical figure and real person is almost irrefutable by all historians and scientists"
Thats inarticulate.. there is no historical account of Jesus...
Next can I inform you before you go further that I've read the bible, and the scriptural apologetics (definitely more than you have and I don't even know you). You are not very clear on the historical evidence for Jesus. Please take your nose out of the bible and read those!
@MumblingMickey Jocephus has a historical account of Jesus, along with many other historians that you can look up if you please. I cannot even believe that people doubt His existence, that isn't worth debating.
wow this made my day :D funny guy!

My recovery from religion is going terribly. I have tried to not believe in God but it's so hard to hold all those irrational atheistic beliefs. I keep relapsing. Maybe hard drugs will help mess with my rationality.
TooManyTights 1 year ago
@TooManyTights
Stupid Atheists.
philippides 1 year ago
You seem to be misunderstanding the issues. Not having "fatih" in the existance things for whichthere is not evidence of is inheriently rational. The universe clearly exists and it creating itself is non-sensical. Gods is such a are such a diverse topic from the terraforming bearded sky giant of the jews to the lightning throwing zeus or even Ra masturbating into a lake to make the world. How are ancient myths related to the universe beginning?
UberLogic 1 year ago
@philippides Not those things, it's more the incoherence, the contradictions, the fallacies, and the plain old fashioned self deception. Apart from those things, I think atheism is a perfectly respectable belief system.
TooManyTights 1 year ago
@TooManyTights Atheism isn't a belief system; it's one 'no' answer to the question "Do you believe in [specific] god." So I'm guessing you're an atheist with regards to Zeus. And Mithra. And Odin. See, you're one of us! You just also accept another god we don't.
ReligiousFiction 1 year ago
@ReligiousFiction Atheism is the rejection in the existence of deities, period. I am not an Atheist according to other religions, because I believe in the one true Deity, God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
daileydevotion 1 year ago
@daileydevotion Well I'm glad you finally responded to me, though you weren't responding to something I said to you.
So do you agree that your god condones murder?
And that calling us fools is against Jesus' wishes?
ReligiousFiction 11 months ago
@ReligiousFiction Atheism IS a belief system. That's why there is an 'ism' at the end. And people are still peddling that whole 'you're an atheist with respect to Zeus' thing....?
TooManyTights 1 year ago
@TooManyTights actual an 'ism' specifies the word is an adjective...nothing more. It changes it from a proper noun...to an adjective. Like colloquialism... or running or helping.... all adjectives.
And you need more help than we all thought if you don't know the difference between a verb, noun and adjective.
MumblingMickey 1 year ago
@MumblingMickey Atheism is a noun, not an adjective.
TooManyTights 1 year ago
@TooManyTights
noun...person place or thing... atheism is not person place or thing...thats atheist
an adjective is an attribute of a noun...
so Darwin is a noun....
MumblingMickey 1 year ago
@MumblingMickey JUST STOP. PLEASE STOP. MY FACE AND MY PALM ARE HURTING.
TooManyTights 1 year ago
Either way.... I think you'll find that lack of a belief in something is not a belief.
So there you (noun) have it, the opinion of atheism (NOW ITS A NOUN) on grammar(noun). of course I had to pretend atheism is a person place or thing there...its not...its a property...or attribute of something else.
So if there ever happens to be an 'atheist church' (duhhh).... then the 'atheist' would also be an adjective there. As it stands the two are mutually exclusive so its pretty much impossible.
MumblingMickey 1 year ago
@MumblingMickey I can't believe I'm attempting to have an intelligent discussion with a guy who thinks the word atheism is an adjective.
TooManyTights 1 year ago
@TooManyTights So atheism the belief which entails not having a that belief? Do you think this is possible?
Thats like a round wheel that has 4 right angles and equal lengths to its sides? It looks like a square, it has all the properties of a square... it looks nothing like a circle... but here you are insisting its a bloody circle!
Apart from bullshit in the bible that needs you to reinterpret it for it to make any sense...are you now also reinterpreting the bloody dictionary?
MumblingMickey 1 year ago
@TooManyTights Right, as with 'alcoholism'. Everybody knows why there is an 'ism' at the end. BELIEF SYSTEM!!!

Ask yourself, why am I alive, or why are any of us alive?
daileydevotion 1 year ago
@daileydevotion We are alive because we bound. We bound because we want to have love, and want do be good with each other. And the only way to do that consistently is with KNOWLEDGE. And the only way to get knowledge is trying to take away as many false claims as possible from our databases.
I'm sorry to say but your god(s), or any god(s) for that matter, are the source for our morality, or will of getting together and do good. They are in each one of us. No god(s) needed.
TemporalOnline 1 year ago
@TemporalOnline Morality cannot be absolute without an absolute God.
Murder is wrong not because you think it is, or because I think it is, but because God has written HIs law on our hearts, that we might know right from wrong, without having to debate what is relative or not. Abortion is rampant in America, A.K.A. -Legalized murder of a quarter-million Americans every year- You must repent, and believe, or the is no hope for you, or anyone who rejects so great a salvation! I urge you.
daileydevotion 1 year ago
@daileydevotion "Morality cannot be absolute without an absolute God."
In fact, absolute morals don't exist.
Do you have a clue of how many abortions are due to the difficulties of birth ?
The birth system is not all that perfect.
Have you a clue of how many hundreds of millions of lives are saved due to science every year ?
Why didn't Jesus give instructions on how to save children rather than we having to invent solutions nearly 2000 years later.

MumblingMickey 11 months ago
@daileydevotion Morality is the collective, subconscious code of behaviour, established and agreed within a human social group. It varies from group to group. It is not absolute. It comes from man.

No one is going to burn in eternity or walk streets of gold after they die...When they die they will be dead...No different than before you were born!
Viracocha711 1 year ago
@Viracocha711 My God is greater than any other. There is no one like Jesus. No other God, before the turn of the time A.D. and B.C., had a Messiah which was crucified and rose again on the third day. Especially no other God has promised to come and live inside those who accept Jesus Christ and be a guide to them on this earth. I can't explain to you how real God is to me, but I can only hope you will seek truth for yourself.
daileydevotion 1 year ago
@daileydevotion OK...Not only are you very young & misguided but you have no idea about any other religion but the one your parents told you was real from the time you were able to listen! And yes there were many gods who died and rose 3 days later...That is based on astrology & was very common back then! You need to got o college & get a good education & you will see just how naive your world view is right now! Good Luck!
Viracocha711 1 year ago
@Viracocha711 I am in college actually, and none of my views come from my parents.I had the guts to search for truth for myself without any preconceived notions.I urge you to do the same, and you will truth. Also regarding Gods who were crucified and rose again in 3 days, name one before Jesus' time.If you are referring to Zeitgeist, that film has almost no credible sources, and over half of it is fabricated information.
/watch?v=JFI6m6Icav4,be enlightened. BUT I WARN YOU, you may learn something.
daileydevotion 1 year ago
@daileydevotion Mythology is mythology...Science is science...I have to ask, Is it the your fear of dying that causes you to abandon any critical thinking about Christianity that you apply to other religions/mythologies? That is understandable as that is the primary reason people want so desperately to believe there is an afterlife. However, that in no way makes it true. There is 0 evidence of the supernatural in any form whatsoever! So, I am not going to lie to myself & act like there is. WHY?
Viracocha711 1 year ago
@Viracocha711 I'm not living for God so I can avoid Hell,or even so I can go to heaven. That would be selfish and my own will, and not in Jesus' footsteps in the least.I live for God and love Him because He first loved me. I want with all my heart to please God and to do His will.God gives you purpose and true meaning when you give Him your love and devotion. His Holy Spirit will come inside you and you will know true joy, and will no longer have to lie to yourself and convince yourself I'm wrong.
daileydevotion 1 year ago
@daileydevotion The one who is LYING to himself is the one who choosing to invent reasons or adhere to Bronze Age writings as reasons to believe in something...If you show me the evidence for a creator I will listen...This is the difference between you & I I follow the evidence you have chosen to adhere to the first major religion you ran into. You want there to be an after life & this is why you have chosen to abandon all critical thinking & go on BLIND FAITH. To say otherwise is dishonest!

@Viracocha711 This knowledge could not have been known at the time the book was written, appr. 700 B.C., aside from divine inspiration.
daileydevotion 1 year ago
@daileydevotion Also can I give you some free advice here...clearly things are not going according to plan for you here... let me tell you why I think that is.... the people you are talking to are all very likely to be better educated then you... so if you get the feeling they are treating you like a dumb excited puppy then you are probably right.
Right now you are trying to explain to a professor of physics why radiometric dating doesn't work... do you not see how utterly silly you look?
MumblingMickey 1 year ago
@MumblingMickey Proverbs 13:1, " A wise man heeds his father's instruction, but a scoffer does not listen to rebuke."
That sums up why my attempts are failing; it isn't because you are any wiser than me. In God's eyes we are both foolish. The foolishness of God is greater than the greatest wisdom of man. So you can say all you want about being "educated", when you are really a fool in God's eyes, and only a fool says in his heart there is no God.
daileydevotion 1 year ago
@daileydevotion My father knew almost nothing compared to what I know...so that phrase isn't even partially correct.
I'm not scoffing...i'm pointing out whats occurring to you here on this page... you are losing...and losing because you are not armed with enough information or education to hlde your own in a debate... i'm advising you to GET better at that before making a fool of yourself again.
I consider that relatively useful advice...
MumblingMickey 1 year ago
@MumblingMickey The phrase refers to everyone's Father, and that is God. God is your Father and He doesn't wish that any should perish, but that all would come to the knowledge of repentance; you rejecting His rebuke, reveals how foolish you are. THIS IS NOT MY OPINION, it is the Bible, and I take the Bible as God's Word. So when I see people denying God after being given Truth, I can only deduct that they are fools in their own hearts, whether or not they are wise in this world.
daileydevotion 1 year ago
@daileydevotion
MumblingMickey 1 year ago
@MumblingMickey In your own eyes, sure.I've given you all the complete truth, and I am done trying to convince you. You can say to yourselves"I beat him, he gave up, we win!",but on that day you will simply hide in shame from the wrath of Jesus when he returns to judge the world for what they've done. We will all be held accountable, even Christians, and each one will be judged according to his works.Repent and Believe the Gospel,I urge you to seek the truth with an open heart, and you will find it.
daileydevotion 1 year ago
@daileydevotion I'm not going to bother asking you to 'give up' quite the contrary.... I suggested you went out and read all the science that you think proves your point... thats inciting you to do more...not less!
Maybe spend some of the time you spend reading the bible finding out if its content is possible! Clearly you have a big problem with that bit! But it can be rectified...just read up.
If I was inciting you to do less I'd tell you to shut up... instead I'm telling you to read more!
MumblingMickey 1 year ago
@daileydevotion You will also notice that until this comment nobody here has asked you what you are doing on this particular video.
As I said we have all spent a very long time learning how to think critically... We don't have a book to run to that will tell us how to behave or what to think.
However you have youth on your side, plenty of time. Don't waste it.
MumblingMickey 1 year ago
@daileydevotion And maybe you might like to use words (semantics) in relation to their dictionary definition.
eg. At the outset of this conversation you insisted your belief was based on faith...which is knowledge in the absence of evidence... thats fine, no problem.
But now you are also insisting that this belief (based on faith) is also 'truth' which is knowledge WITH evidence...well which is it? It cannot be both, they are mutually exclusive.
MumblingMickey 1 year ago
@MumblingMickey I my lose in this world, and that's fine; the things of this world will all perish and pass away. But, God's Word will by no means pass away. I'd said learning more about the real truth that is God is more important than the things of this earth. I could care less how much a fool you think I am, I am a fool to this world; because you can't possibly understand with your human mind how God exists.
daileydevotion 1 year ago
@daileydevotion Fine have a goal... read the actual science... it won't hurt will it? After all...we all read the bible... it didn't turn us into raving religious nuts did it?
What harm can it do?...and you'll be better placed to assert your ideas about how radiometrics don't work!
After all the people who told you that must have read how it works themselves.... so if they read it and it done them no harm then it'll have n effect on you knowing how its so inaccurate...ehh?
MumblingMickey 1 year ago
@MumblingMickey That is why God renews your mind and gives you a new spirit when are born again, so you can understand eternal things more.
daileydevotion 1 year ago
@daileydevotion Thats the problem....you don't actually understand things... certainly not 'eternal' things ...since eternity is 'infinity' and just a mathematical construct. It does not apply to time. Time is finite...there is a certain amount of the stuff...and thats it.
If you actually did know things about 'eternity' then you'd know it cannot exist in the universe due to the fact that time is in fact finite and increasing. Obviously there can be n increase to something thats infinite!
MumblingMickey 1 year ago
@daileydevotion And don't give me this...'ohh but god is outside the universe'
There isn't even any scripture that states that...the bible has god operating in a linear timeline at all times, even making mistakes and correcting them...which would not be necessary if one had powers of retro-causality. ...and 'OUTSIDE' the universe is as stupid an idea as a 'one ended stick'
And its pretty funny really...God does not have retrocausality yet we humans have demonstrated it. So much for God.
MumblingMickey 1 year ago
@daileydevotion These things you were told don't apply to most of us here.... they just don't... it'd be like you going back in time and trying to persuade a monk not to burn a woman at the stake since she can't be a witch....
You actually know that.... but the monk isn't educated well enough to know...he'll go on about how shes possessed by demons and the evidence is she floats.
So we sort of look at you the same way...uneducated and rather silly. We know too much to accept total idiocy.
MumblingMickey 1 year ago
@daileydevotion Uh, oh, Dailey!! Did you call a fellow human a fool??? You should heed Jesus' words better!
Matthew 5:22 "anyone who says, 'You fool!' will be in danger of the fire of hell."
Yikes! Sound like your judgment of nonbelievers is putting you in danger of the same fate.
ReligiousFiction 1 year ago
@ReligiousFiction I've been trying to explain to him that he's arguing with people who had in fact read the bible... he's under the impression he 'knows it all' ...and is probably dumbfounded as to how we know all this stuff?!?! And why his arguments (such as they are) are falling apart like paper boats...
Either way what he will learn is that most people he's arguing with here are massively better educated than he is! If thats all he learns then its at least something.
MumblingMickey 1 year ago
@ReligiousFiction I only followed what I was told in Proverbs 26:5 "Answer a fool according to his folly, Lest he be wise in his own eyes." I'm not throwing out judgments, I'm only responding with reasonable statements in my own defense. When someone attacks my intelligence, I stated that we are all foolish in God's eyes. Even the Bible says that the fool says there is no God. How would you interpret that? I don't run around calling people fools, I merely responded to how he responded.
daileydevotion 1 year ago
CONT.
MumblingMickey 1 year ago
@Viracocha711 Let me answer your last hypothetical question with a question.
Would you rather spend appr. 75 years living for a God you had faith existed and had faith that He would freely give you eternal life, or would you rather spend 75 years living for yourself and being independent, and then find out that there is an afterlife, and that you have to now spend a eternity separate from God's love, from happiness. A place where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth?
daileydevotion 1 year ago
@daileydevotion Last reply...OH the ole "cover your ass faith" LOL! or "Pascal's Wager" look it up it is a very old idea to which I see no point in. If that was the case I should adopt many different religions to cover all bets! It makes no sense?! Had you been born in the middle east you would be a Muslim or in the far east a Hindu or Buddhist & so on! You just happen to be in place where Christianity is dominate. Hell is no dif than fairies & unicorns..They are all mythology!

I am an atheist because I can just NOT believe in any god. When I read the bile, or listen to any preacher the whole thing just screams FRAUD!!
I could not choose to believe in god just by wanting to, I could pretend to, for appearances sake, but surely that would not fool god.
Kneeling at the feet of a god who needs contsant worship sound just as bad to me a neepng and washing my teeth!!
wordavee 1 year ago
@wordavee Once God gives you a new heart and you become born again, then it is your joy to serve the Lord.
Obviously, one who is living in the flesh and not alive in Christ cannot possibly want to worship God. The first step is realizing God exists and humbling yourself, coming to repentance(turning from old ways, sinful ways), and accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Nothing we do can merit us salvation, it is a free gift, but you must have faith.
daileydevotion 1 year ago
@daileydevotion - Apolonius and Mithra are just two other 'saviors' reported to have risen 3 days after death.
Answer this: what do you think we need to be 'saved' from? A hell, created by god? That makes little sense.
Also, I hope you didn't ignore my response about murder on purpose, but if you believe the bible, here's more 'evidence' that your god murders:
Genesis
Exodus
Numbers
Joshua
Check those out and tally how many people god kills, and how many he orders the Israelites to kill.
ReligiousFiction 1 year ago
@ReligiousFiction God is all-knowing and no one can know His purpose. God knows ahead of time whether or not a nation is going to repent, and turn from their wicked ways. Back in the days of ancient Israel they were ruled by a theocracy, a government that God heads. The battles they fought were physical, because they were under the Old Covenant. But, when God sent His Son to die on the cross, He began the New Covenant. Now our battles are spiritual, no longer fighting with flesh and blood.
daileydevotion 1 year ago
@ReligiousFiction Many times God would give these nations a chance to repent, like Sodom and Gomorrah, but did they? You look at it from God's perspective and all He sees is a nation of reprobates who have denied their Creator, and even refuse to repent when given the chance. God created Hell not for mankind, but for Lucifer (Satan) and a third of the angels that fell with him. Mithra's resurrection wasn't recorded before the time of Jesus, and neither was she/he crucified.
daileydevotion 1 year ago
@daileydevotion
I've always found it strange that several of god's personal angels, who presumably had no doubt that god existed, still rejected him and rebelled against him. They chose life on earth with human females, rather than live in god's presence, which says a lot for sex, and not much for god!!!
wordavee 1 year ago
@wordavee Where in the Bible does it say that angels had sex with humans? Your views are very misguided...
The angels rebelled because they wanted to exalt themselves above God. Lucifer fell because he tried to get worship for himself instead of worshiping God. This says a lot about selfish desires, and blatant rejection of God's love, then it does about God Himself.
daileydevotion 1 year ago
@daileydevotion
"Where in the Bible does it say that angels had sex with humans?"
I know you Christians don't read the Bible much but usually you get through Genesis before you give up on reading the whole thing...
Genesis 6:1-4...oh and by the way, they produce GIANTS....lol
Seriously, Christians, pick up your Bible and read it sometime. It is the true path to atheism.
Shayrah 1 year ago
@Shayrah You misinterpret that passage, as I thought you had. Sons of God are the children of the godly line of Seth(Adam's son), daughters of men are people that are from Cain's ungodly line. The word used for giants in the original Hebrew text means "bully" or "tyrant". Also if you'll notice in verse 4, in clearly says these "giants" were around before the sons of God took in daughters of men. Also in verse 3, the Lord states that these men were indeed flesh. I do read my Bible, everyday.
daileydevotion 1 year ago
@daileydevotion
You might enjoy a series by brettppalmer on Giants of the Bible here on YouTube. I am not talking out of context. Listen to your apologists and the scripture...but funnily enough, you are admitting straight off that it is a ridiculous notion. So, in a way, I already win.
Shayrah 1 year ago
@Shayrah You are taking it out of context. Sorry sir, I'm not going to watch that video, I did not come to enlighten myself, but to bring others in. You can read the chapters 4-6 for yourself and even go into Isaiah and other prophets that show God refers to His people as His children, thus sons of God. Giants may have existed, but they were around BEFORE sons of God took in daughters of men, it says so CLEARLY in verse 4. Giants, like I said, could mean large people, and/or tyrants or bullies.

But when that day comes, you will curse yourself and the heavens, wishing you would've just opened your eyes to the world around you.Everyone on this comment stream is an Atheist I see,but that is fine because I go to where the Gospel is needed.Jesus is the only Way,Truth, and Life, Repent and believe!
daileydevotion 1 year ago
@daileydevotion
"Repent and believe!"
Shayrah 1 year ago
@Shayrah You've rebelled against God just like we all have, as it says in Romans 3:23.
We are all guilty of sin, and thus deserve death (spiritual). Repent of your unbelief and wickedness and accept Jesus Christ as your Savior and that He died for your sins, rose on the third day, and ascended into Heaven. Keep repenting of sins and keep believing unto the end, for Jesus says, "He who endures to the end shall be saved."
daileydevotion 1 year ago
@daileydevotion
Shayrah 1 year ago
@Shayrah You asked what exactly I am supposed to repent from and believe, so I told you...
As far as YOU converting people, YOU never converted anyone. You may have gave them truth, and they in turn may have made a decision to accept Jesus Christ, but that doesn't mean they were converted by you. I am not nitpicking, I am only revealing to you how much pride you have in nothing you have done. I take pride in nothing I do, and we are supposed to be humble before.
daileydevotion 1 year ago
@daileydevotion
Shayrah 1 year ago
@Shayrah You have committed a sin, you are rejecting God, denying His existence, that is a sin! You call me arrogant how? I am merely proclaiming what is the Holy Word of God. I never claimed to be a certified theologian, but I know God is Truth and Jesus is the way, and the life. God Bless.
daileydevotion 1 year ago
@daileydevotion

A watered-down gospel is no gospel at all.
daileydevotion 1 year ago
@daileydevotion

@daileydevotion so god is a giant? because he's a bully and a tyrannic asshole. LOL
12InchesUnBuffed 1 year ago
@daileydevotion seriously these are just stories and here you are trying to apologies the inconsistencies in them.
The reason you find yourself trying to make sense of nonsense is that your mind insists on its information not conflicting with common sense.
So lines like 'there may have been giants' are silly. You and I both know that theres no evidence of giants. Your only retreat there is to say 'yes but theres no evidence there aren't any' at which point I rest my case.
MumblingMickey 1 year ago
@daileydevotion Plus this video is about people who have realized that talking snakes, unicorns, giants, etc and other fantasy is just that. And when they went to look for evidence of it, they realized there was none.
You might reas the bible every day...but I can guarantee you never read it and compare it to things you can confirm for yourself. That would be a dangerous idea wouldn't it?
You won't see if its even possible for someone to be taller than 9 foot... again thats dangerous.
MumblingMickey 1 year ago
@MumblingMickey I often relate the Bible to reality and my actual life, that is the only way to make sense out of it. Otherwise it is like you say " fantasy." I interpret the Bible as literal where it literal and figurative when it is figurative, is that not the way any piece of literature is interpreted? People who look for evidence are just people who have fallen away from faith, left their first love (God).
daileydevotion 1 year ago
@daileydevotion The only way to make sense of the bible is to read it...find all the bits that plainly make no sense...then look for a way around them to MAKE them make sense. That structure and procedure is called apologetics. It takes things that are nonsense and applies a logic that fits current knowledge into it. When current knowledge changes...so does the apologetics.
I can give you an excellent recent example of that if you are actually interested.
MumblingMickey 1 year ago
@MumblingMickey When i referred to reading things and interpreting according to daily life, I was referring to apologetics and spiritual revelation. I know what apologetics is, I often dabble in it. If you look with an open heart, and truly want nothing but truth, then I can promise you, you will find it. I've found the truth, and there is no sense in trying to convince me otherwise. I am not here to make my ways known, but the Father who is in Heaven. All glory be to God, and not to me.
daileydevotion 1 year ago
@daileydevotion Why would I bother to try change your mind about anything? I have no ideas to sell you... mine cost me lot of time and money over 25 years.
So the only thing i want is for people who have ideas to keep them to themselves and take no actions that impact society unless they can show such ideas are valid. Which is fair enough.
Personally I couldn't care less if you danced through the streets butt naked at 4am! Obviously i 'd prefer you didn't do that during the school run!
MumblingMickey 1 year ago
@daileydevotion People who look at evidence have not fallen away from faith. eg. A company deciding how many widgets to make for the next three months look at the evidence.
Next if you are referring to me, I've been atheistic since birth, so were my parents, and my grandparents. I base decisions on the information I have access to. The less accurate information the less accurate I'll be!
Of course I don't always have enough information... but I won't go against the information I do have.
MumblingMickey 1 year ago
@MumblingMickey Evidence is not required for faith, but I have seen and learned plenty in my life to know that the Yahweh is the one true God, and that He really did send His Son, Yeshua Messiah, to save the world from its sins and so that they might know eternal life, which is knowing God personally.
daileydevotion 1 year ago

It was never intended in the bible or anywhere else to refer to anything else... yet here you are thinking its some sort of demigod or evil spirit...when all it was to start with was a planet in the morning sky... the fallen star... venus!
MumblingMickey 1 year ago
@daileydevotion
Gen 6:1-4. Don't you read the bible?
As I said. If heaven is so wonderful, & the presence of god so perfect, why would anyone rebel, particularly an angel, who would know for certain that "he" had ben created by god?
You may say that god gave them free will, but why would anyone choose to leave a palace to live in a slum? One answer is, some people would rather be king of a slum than a servant in a palace, but I'd say the best answer is it is myth told around the fireside.
wordavee 1 year ago
@wordavee The angels followed Lucifer, not because he and them wanted to leave Heaven, but because Lucifer wanted to be worshiped, and to be exalted above God. God cast them out of Heaven and thus created hell where they were bound to be judged to in the last days.
daileydevotion 1 year ago
@daileydevotion
As I said before, why would a creation of god, fully aware that god was the ultimate being who created the whole univers and everything in it, want to rebel?
We have to presume that:-
A) god could not make a perfect angel who would be free from jealousy.
B) Worshipping god becomes rather irritating after a while.
C) Other angels were also dissatisfied, otherwise why would they go to Licifers side and follow him just because, as you said " Lucifer wanted to be worshiped"?
wordavee 11 months ago
@wordavee Those aren't angels in that passage, I've already explained to someone else on here, and she rejected my interpretation as being close-minded. I don't trust Atheists to interpret Scripture, I read it as it says and relate it to other verses in the Bible. Sons of God are the descendants of the line of Seth (Adam's son). Daughters of women are descendants from the line of Cain.(First murderer). They are called sons of God because God always calls His people, His children.
daileydevotion 1 year ago
@wordavee In Gen. 4:26, "And as for Seth, to him also a son was born; and he named him Enosh. Then men began to call on the name of the Lord." In context this in contrast to Cain's genealogy just listed in the previous verses. Also in verse 3 of chapter 6, still referring to the sons of God, "And the Lord said, "My Spirit shall not strive with man forever, for he is indeed flesh; yet his days shall be one hundred twenty years." Clearly the Lord says they are of flesh, and are in fact human.
daileydevotion 1 year ago
@daileydevotion If you read the bit about angels and rebellions and whatnot you'd very quickly realise that God is not omnipotent... anything but! in fact God manages to screw up many times in the bible...and the funny thing is the excuse is always 'mysterious ways'... but mysterious ways does not excuse observed, self confessed errors which are then rectified... but again only in linear time!
Many of these errors are amazingly stupid ones too... very basic stuff a 10 year old would get right!

MumblingMickey 11 months ago

MumblingMickey 1 year ago
@MumblingMickey There is no exact date of the Flood, and tons of other cultures have parables referring to the same type of flood during that same general period. Also the Gregorian Calendar we use today wasn't used before the year 1582 A.D.
daileydevotion 1 year ago

There is more evidence of Robin Hood!

@MumblingMickey Jocephus has a historical account of Jesus, along with many other historians that you can look up if you please. I cannot even believe that people doubt His existence, that isn't worth debating.
