  • Textile abuse or extreme clothsdependency?

  • Holy mother of mercy! I like it but can understand why it never took off.

  • It was rated at consumers report. thy says that residul moisture is 112% of the weight of the dry clothes which where put in. modern washers spin at 1000rpm have 60% so this machine equals the front load Bendix which spun at about 300rpm.

  • My Grandmother had one of these and I remember her pounding the rubber tub back into place with her fist at the end of the cycle!

  • Bizarre, but great! Not that I'd have bought one new-

  • Please do a wash cycle vidio

  • My mother had one of these, could not open the lid till it let you!!! Then you had to peel the clothes off the agitator!

I always wondered what it looked like squeezing the clothes dry!

  • Now, THAT WAS WEIRD (but interesting). It's kinda odd there was not any sort of spin cycle...not even a short one. If I remember correctly, isn't an ad for this washer one of the occasional Pics Of The Day?

  • Wow, that's an amazing machine! I also agree for more videos on this washer.

  • Can you show the wash cycle

  • That was awesome. I've never seen a washer like that before. How long did they stay in production for? and were they sold in the US?

  • i really never saw such an amazing thing done by a washer :-) very interesting :-) would be nice to see more vids.

  • Probably the most unique way of extracting water from clothes I've seen. Amazing.

  • @dualactionsurgilator Of course the squeezing of the clothes was not very effective. We could wring pounds of water from them!

  • Very cool!

  • This is the machine we had in 1954!

  • That is the most unique thing I have ever seen! Thanks for posting.

  • That is pretty cool! I see how that would be great for woolen's or delicates, but I can see all sorts of issues with the rubber disintegrating and since it uses vacuum pressure, I'm sure the seals would eventually be an issue.

    Thanks for the video

  • Wow.....great video, now we get to see "How it Works", neat idea but I assume you can wring water out of the clothes still?? how good does it extract?? I wonder how much more the Unimatic 1140 would extract?? Nice one Robert...

  • @chestermikeuk The "extract effect" was terrible if you used a dryer. We used to wring the clothes out anyway before we got our 1956 Frigidaire Condenser Dryer. Where's the little tan rubber "grille" in the agitator top?

  • and the wash cycle?
