@Ghelpotxx No, he is not gay. He enjoys the company of younger men, and does not want to be married. He's a "player", didn't you notice when the narrator said he knew everybody in the town after he started working, he's a bright guy with obvious charm. And the town thought they were to get married because they thought they had sex, which means he told the people in the town that he had sex with Emily. Emily killed him because he gossiped that she fucked a guy well below her family "standards"
This is by far one of the worst interpretations of this story I have ever seen......you make it seem like Emily has killed her father, when in reality she killed Homer
I like the way you played out this story... is almost exactly as how it goes in the story. You all did a great job, not to mention Grandma, she was awesome!!
@loraynahful - admittedly, that was made a bit more explicit in the actual story. Emily is in love with Homer - who does not return her affection (though not specifically stated he is implied to be gay). Heartbroken, she kills him in order to quench some psychopathic need to be with him forever, thus compelling her to keep and preserve the body.
@loraynahful - Emily, has hopes of marrying Homer, and when he states that he's 'going away' she KNOWS that he has NO intentions of making their union permananet and Emily decides to FREEZE the moment and kills Homer. The Narrative implies that Emily continues to have 'conjugal' union with Homer's corpse. It is also implied, that Emily's relationship with her Father was of an Incestuous nature, she was not allowed suitors. This is a complex story with many hidden horrors...
@loraynahful she killed him bc she was lonely, and he didn't want to get married. The Grierson family were well respected people, and for her not to be good enough for a Northern worker was kind of embarrassing on her behalf! So, she finished him!!!
The Zombies of course wrote the song "A Rose for Emily" before you guys were even a sparkle in your dad's eye. The song is also about the short story of William Faulkner. Great job explaining the story!!! The Zombies vid is on my site. 5's for you guys. Peace
There is too many thing missing .. But its realy interesting

continue- and then didn't marry her. when she got the poison it said "For Rats" because Homer is a rat for letting the secret that they had sex out.

Based on what I remember, she asked for the arsenic first before the man asked her what it was for. She didn't answer and left with the poison.

Great job, but you should move the smell to after Homer's disappearance. Love to see Faulkner's work still having an impact.
