Why not try to give peace a chance! Let the government of Taiwan negotiate reunification with China. Taiwan should look forward to live with in a greater China.
If it were not for military restrictions place on Taiwan due to US fear of provoking China, Taiwan would have already developed much more indigenous weapons capable of defending itself and inflicting damage on Mainland China. For a long time Taiwanese development has been limited by the Chinese, whether it be economically or military expansion, either directly(not allowing Taiwan into UN or WHO) or indirectly(threatening to launch attack if further "provoked")
Taiwan should also spend at least 10% of GDP for defence expenditures and increase taxes to Scandinavian levels if necessary. All weapon items should be indigenously developed(incl. Taiwanese version of F-22, and nuclear subs) since no country will be able to sell modern weapons to Taiwan in the near future.
The US cannot help in case PRC invades. Nor can the US help Korea,Israel or Japan,in particular,due to the business interests of US leaders with PRC economy. Taiwan should develop MIRV ICBMs,hydrogen bombs&warheads and stockpile fuel,ammo and other resources capable of sustaining 30 years of war in underground tunnel networks.
If you have an IQ above 1 u will know taiwan cant fend off mainland china without full usa help. You have to be up to date with these things...chinese economic influence is glowing REALLY quickly, and war is not really gonna happen anytime soon, so by the time war may start america would value mainland china more than it does taiwan.

The planes are good and I'm sure that the pilots are also good and dedicated. Still, I don't think they can hold back whole Chinese airwings totaling 100-125 planes each. Time to negotiate with China for a peaceful, gradual convergence, with a long 35-50 years full autonomy before merger with mainland. Some smart and forward looking statesmen are needed, in place of the demagogues and fearmongers, what you have nowadays.

Well, negotiate because of fear is also the fearmonger's way.
Don't forget also that Taiwan has SAM and ships with SM-1 or 2 and other anti-air weapons.
It won't be just air force vs air force.
