  • Weirdest moment for a song.

  • AAAAAAAAAA! XD

  • i love there dancing loads! and im 16 years of age :)

Donald O'Connor is a strange little man! but he makes me laugh and he's just awesome! and so is Gene Kelly :D

  • Who would click dislike to this?

  • I love Cosmo and Don's duets!

  • That doctor must be very confused.

  • oooh you don't find them like that anymore.

  • Incredible! Love this!

  • so you know how they act in the movie of a movie well its acting inside acting!!

  • One interesting thing about this scene is the use of color in the costume design. Don's sweater, pants, and shows are all brown, while Cosmo's outfit is the same design in blue.

  • This is an example of music that is fun, something that simply doesn't really exist these days.

Honestly, I have never heard a song this fun today.

  • fucking white people

  • @geignaskgfasnjkvgjkl Why haven't people flamed this guy yet?

  • @thedragonb0y we're here for the music and the dancing. ^.^

  • Man that choreography was brilliant. The parts of the musical I have seen r so brilliantly done.

  • I HAFE TO DO THAT IN MY PLAY

  • @TheSoso553 me too'

  • What a couple of brats. I feel for the prof.

  • Is it just me or is the dancing off? Not in the movie I mean but if you watch the dancing closly in this youtube vid the steps are off from the music...still one of the most amazing dance secnes ever though

  • @SiemprePuraVIda Yeah, the video is slightly out of sync.

  • God they are such amazing dancers and singers XP this is real dancing

  • Oooh I wish I had been alive during the 50's :)

  • Cuantas veces se grabo esta escena???

  • We're watching this right now in our film class and I LOVE IT!!!! Gene is sooo hot, lol! Donald is pretty hot too, lol. I love how his name is Cosmo, makes me think of the Fairly Oddparents, lol.

  • Love, love, love this!!! One of my favorite movies, thanks for sharing!

  • another reason why gene kelly is amazing is that he barely ever looks at his own feet while dancing.

  • The diction prof is also a dancer. Just watch how he moves.

  • 4 people were dancing so much they hit the wrong thumb!?

  • This is a great video

  • Paw Dugan sent me.

  • I don't know how anyone could not like this. This is such a classic!

  • I don't know how I got here,, but I couldn't care less :),, LOL @ the end,,

  • I love them both!!! :)

But I really miss this era, when casual ment a nice shirt nice pants and polished shoes. Not over sized shirts pants that hang off your but and sneakers or any other random shoe u might have

  • @THEBeautyofebony I really have to agree.

Our generation needs to be reminded of what good fashion is because BUM is not an example of GOOD. XDD

  • gotta love the sync xD

  • he just randomly sits on his lap XD

  • He's mine! cosmo / Donald O'Connor is mine!

  • He's mine!

  • oh i fell in love with Donald O'Connor. He's my lucky charm.<3

  • Cosmo =)

  • Please tell me that I'm not the only one who finds Donald O' Connor in this Attractive?

  • @XxCarlieCullenxX There are LOADS of us who think Donald is a doll and the most talented EVER - no one did as many things so incredibly well as he did - check out my channel for clips from his other great and romantic movies, as well as others' channels (comments on my channel) that are devoted to Donald. We love him - he was a wonderful, kind man as well.

  • great!!!! these movie make my day full with sunny every time!!

  • Ayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!

  • These guys wear tap shoes 24/7 lmao i love this bit lol

  • Was there ever a dance sequence that was better than this? If there is, I haven't seen it. This is just brilliant.

  • This always makes me start tapdancing while watching. Love choreography and actors to... and by the way I don't recomand wearing tap shoes in the class... In my case (as you probably guessed) I don't so most of the time nobady can hear me and I can practice all the time. Its also a great thing to do if you're as nervouse as hell

  • Pause at 0:11 xD

    Ah, I love this movie!

  • "AAAAAAAAAAAA!"

  • It's absolutely amazing the incredible amount of talent and ability these men have.

  • It's amazing to think that you could expect the Hollywood actors to have the ability to sing, to dance and to act. Nowadays it seems almost impossible to expect even one of these talents. At lest we have the classics, always. :)

  • @Piitsi i can only thumbs up once but u sir deserve a thousand

  • @Piitsi I almost think that technology has stolen the show in everything including books.

This is a beast we must tame with the real amazing stuff.

  • they're so perfect!

  • the taps seem to be out of time with the feet movment a lot of the time?

  • Gosh they make that look so easy!

  • Gene Kelly and Donald O'Connor were certainly great talents. They make it look so easy. Yet Debbie Reynolds said Kelly used to make her practice until her feet bleed. Would any of these current no-talent celebs being willing to do that?

  • @Dolphinsmaniac1 prob. not cuz their not willin to put in the effort....

  • Comment removed

  • This is so wonderful, I can't get enough! This scene puts me in a good mood no matter what. I have to go now, I'm going to watch it another 3743643 times! X)

  • once you needed to have talents to become the real artist......but now the real talents are neglected

  • @rexpunzle you are so right why do people with talent hid and people with no talent say they do and become famous

  • @SammyJrDavis cuz they want there face out there. their"light hugers" but the pple with talent dont want pple smuthering them thats what happens u get smuthered if u look carefully ull notice that, it drives u crazy u cant do anything without being critizied or followed. an so-on

  • Todo mundo me decia que me parecia a Donald cuando era joven. El sencillamente me gustaba mucho

  • incrível!

  • Ah...! The good old days, when you could start singing and dancing out of the blue!

Last time I did that, people gave me weird looks...

  • Donald O'Connor was the beast! Seriously. His Cosmo character was the best thing (okay, that may be a bit unfair but still) in this movie. WICKED. WICKED. WICKED. Numbers!

  • @nlviclone I agree!! Donald was the BEST in all of his movies!!!

  • my friend 's name is moises my teacher made fun of him by making him watch

    like four times

  • How can those 4 people dislike this scene?! Clearly dont know what talent is!

  • 4 People are IDIOTS!!!!

  • HOOPDEDUDLEDUDLE!!!

  • I LOVE this scene so much!!! Cosmo is just great, and the way the two best friends are having so much fun together... I don't know, this scene just gets me. :D

  • Last time I saw the movie, I was like 9-10 years old. Saw it yesterday, still awesome...This scene'll be in my mind forever !

  • If i could have HALF as much as spontaneousness as ONE of them, id get into a talent show and win ,no problem!

  • i wish i had their energy :D its contagious!

  • its one of those classic dance sequences that when you watch it, your head blows up because you cant believe how awesome it is

  • LOVE

  • 3 dislikes from that third guy

  • Makes me smile every time

  • 3 people don't have moses roses!

  • why did these type of movies ever "fade out"???

  • I wish they still made 'em like this.

  • Amazing dancing!!! Bravo!!!

  • I wonder how many caleries they burned!!!!!!

  • Love watching this video - simply superb!

  • their timing is perfect.

  • its funny that the steps sound is put on after and that it is woman.

  • @Davida0608 What??? Donald and Gene dubbed their own taps!!

  • HAHAHAHAHAHA HIS FACE IS FUNNY WEN HE SAYS THE POEM TEEHEE GOOD SONG :D

  • Man..... People just aren't this good anymore. Its sad. It's like we're not progressing...

  • I always watch this video when I have a bad. I LOVE THESE GUYS! I wish famous people were still talented today.

  • i love how the two guys in this film are in the middle of something quite important and out of the blue break into dance hehe

  • It's gotta be a rose 'cause it rhymes with "mose!"

    Love it.

  • ALWAYS wear your tap shoes just in case you might break into a little musical number in the middle of a diction lesson.

  • @King4aday01 Thank you made my day ;D

  • @King4aday01 Don't forget your spats too.

  • @King4aday01 I agree, however I think that instead of bringing your tap shoes, you should bring your tap "shoeses".

  • One of the best movies ever, with some of the best talent ever! :D

  • One of the best movies ever, with some of the best talent ever! :D

  • I lol'ed at the beginning, at that one guy's face, haha xD

  • Donald is soooo cuuute :D

i'm 16..my FAVORITE movie! love it

  • @36sweetooth Wow, you are special. :) It's a great movie indeed

  • Donald is soo cute! Gene is simply sexy!

  • From the moment I saw Donald the first time I ever watched this movie - he was my favourite character.

Cosmo is so modest, humorous and talented and (to me) he's the real star. <3

  • @mjlover290858 Cosmo is the show-stealing side character that always pops up at the most (in)opportune times.

  • @mjlover290858 i no me too!! he the best

  • @mjlover290858 You forgot gorgeous too.

  • @juliebjones98 You are sooooo right - Donald was one gorgeous, super-talented, adorable, kind man!!!:)))

  • I hate how people always criticize musicals for breaking out in song. I rather like it!

  • @JPnintendofan I agree. If only real life was like that...

  • @soulfuel I completely agree! Donald's talent, charisma, and humor really make the movie. He was the best! So unique! He could do it all! He has terrific romantic numbers in other movies and his Make 'em Laugh number, in this one, is iconic and he won the Golden Globe for his role as Cosmo. Plus, he was soooooo adorable!!!

  • Gene Kelly is such a charming show-stealer ♥ Donald is awesome in his own right but man, Gene Kelly just steals the spotlight!

  • Gene Kelly is the sex and Donald is just fabulous to look at :D

    what a great team

  • The moral of the story is: Never be snobbish in when teaching ex vaudville movie stars phoenetics or they will break into a kick ass song and tap number in your (dis) honor.

  • Don O'connor OH MY GOD so ADORABLE!!!!! and talented too! He had the most beautiful blue eyes i've ever seen! if i could bring back anyone from the dead it would be Gene and Don! They are my idols!

  • @mlbrownfamily You're not the only one here! There are quite a few of us on youtube admiring Donald's gorgeous blue eyes and his immense talent :))))

  • Even if you're not a big fan of musicals, like myself, you still can truly appreciate the immense amount of talent in this film. This was back in the day when talent won over fame and politics.

  • You never see anything like this these days.

Gene Kelly and Donald O'Connor are truly amazing!

  • lol we watched this part of the movie today during music class, and everyone was cracking up about how the old man was like being flung around like a majorly big toy

  • Watch how Donald O'Connor looks over to Gene Kelly-and yet he is the killer dancer in this scene. Kelly is quite got all the moves he is famous for, but if you didn't know who turned out in the end with all the fame wouldn't you be remembering Donald in this scene?

  • I always thought O'Connor was the better dancer...he makes it look fluent, whilst Kelly is spot on all the time.

  • Why are they so talented?

  • THis one is my favourite.

  • @JonbeardBootlegg favorite

  • @megankathleenbruce I spell everything the English way not the American way.

  • @megankathleenbruce you're an idiot

  • True talent on show here!

  • this is sick

  • Most amazing movie in the world. Gene Kelly and Donald O'Connor <3 Real true stars. Amazing! I have chills <3

  • A!!!!!!!!!!!! Ahh! I always get butterflies when I see this dance...so amazing!

  • Chanson à apprendre pour jeudi!!!

    <3

  • omg this will actually be stuck in my head forever!

    im not complaining though

  • Six cuts in the entire dance sequence. Try finding that in a modern film.

  • this song gets stuck in my head all the time, lol how nerdy is that

  • They did lipsynch in the movie. That is always done. It was perfect in the movie as it would be in a movie of this caliber and with these two extraordinary talents. This video is out of synch, not them. The movie DVD has a section where you hear them singing different takes of this song which they would later playback for the dance. What fantastic dancing! Love Donald!!!

  • they just HAPPEN to be wearing their tap shoes

  • lovely eyes :)

  • @SweetLittleElise absolutly!!! donald!!!!

  • AAAAAAye!!!!

  • terrible lip-synching...amazing nontheless.

  • @FirstCitizen2010

they wernt lip syncing watch the movie the audio is just off in this video

  • I wish I could tap dance like that!

  • @jsophocleus lots an lots of work

  • Jaw-droppingly, mind-bogglingly wonderful.

The rehearsals for this must've been lots of work, sweat and fun.

  • Jaw-dropping astounding to this very day. God given talent.

  • Gene Kelly musicals are some of the best ever.

  • absolutely best best film, this dance sequence timeless. Buy the DVD with extra features its worth it :)

  • R.I.P talent

  • Donald O'Conner is soo adorable!

  • @sanjac07 he kicks ass soo awesome!!

  • i think my head just exploded...

  • As some film historians have said his 'MAKE EM LAUGH" number was so iconic that if he never did anything else he would be a Hollywood immortal for that alone. And, by all accounts, Donald was the nicest and most modest of stars. I think that comes right through the screen and I think that's a main reason why people love him so much.

  • So, whereas Gene was a great choreographer, Donald had great success in Vegas and with stage shows. He had such stage presence and charisma and he loved performing before an audience. Besides being the sole headliner, he toured with Mickey Rooney to rave reviews, aswell as with Debbie Reynolds. Because of his yhouth and studio circumstance, he was unable to take full advantage of the golden age but he left an indelible and unforgettable mark with his charm, superb dancing, and comedic gifts.

  • so they got Danny Kaye and brought in a dancer from Broadway to do the difficult dances that Donald would have done and that Danny Kaye couldn't do.The picture had to be ready in time for a Christmas release. So, that would have been another huge classic for Donald but it was not meant to be. Comden and Green who wrote the screenplay for Singing in the Rain said they knew the end was coming when a Gene Kelly musical debuted at a drive-in instead of at Radio City.

  • I forgot Donald also received an Emmy in 1953 as the best male star.

THe great Astaire left in 1956 the same year as Anything Goes which was Bing Crosby's ending withParamount. (Donald was supposed to be in WHite Christmas with Bing Crosby, in 1954. he would have reteamed with Vera-Ellen. They were perfect toigether, but he got a disease from Francis the mule and Even though they waited several months for him he was too worn down from all the medication to perform the strenous dances

  • Donald received a second star on the Walk of FAME. In There's No Business Like Show Business, the number he doies with statues is a masterpiece. You can see his progression with grace, elegance and power. He was really coming into his own and when he did Anything Goes with Bing Crosby the musical was starting its decline. But I loved it especially his romantic De-Lovely number with Mitzi Gaynor. What a dancer and he was so adorable!! Even MGM was going away from the musical, sadly.

  • faith4094 Kelly. Vera-Ellen said that Donald taught her the joy of dancing. Sorry, the movie was Call Me Madam. He also does a great number with balloons and it shows the strength in his legs. At this time, he was also very big on television. He did tremendous dance routines on live T.V. , as well as com edy skits on the Colgate Comedy hour an d the Donald O.'Connor Show. Reviewers were amazed at his talents and how he could "hold an audience as few performers can".

  • Kelly said the number was all Donald and it was brilliant. Donald won the Golden Globe for his performance. He did other big musicals after that but he was still under contract to Universal where he waqs doing the cute Francis films. His showstopping duet with Ethel Merman was sensational and showed what a wo.nderful voice he had.He received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame after this film. It also had a gorgeous number with Vera-Ellen who had previously danced with the great Astaire and

  • @Johnny Contagious----AS a huge fan of Donald O'Connor, I wanted to respond to your comments of 6 mo. ago. A reminder--Donald was much younger than Kelly. When Kelly came to Hollywood in 1940, after Broadway, he was 28. At that time,

Donald was 15. Kelly was at powerful MGM during the height of the movie musical. Donald made some movies at Paramount as a child and then left to go back on stage to help his family. They hadmany hardships in that his father died when he was a baby, his sister was

  • Comment removed

  • @faith4094 his sister was killled by a car, one brother died when Donald was a teenager and they other when Donald was 31. He was discovered again by Universal and became a huge teen star. Girls were agog and understandably so. He did some terrific dancing and comedy but Universal wasn't the powerhouse that MGM or some other studios were.Thankfully, he got the chance to showcase his incredible talents when Kelly and Stanley Donen insisted on him for the role of Cosmo.

  • which idiots disliked this???

  • @ballerinagirl1001 i no really? this movie is iconic and amazing!!!!

  • Bet that old guy is partly thinking "What the hell?!" and partly "God, I wish I could dance like that". Love it when Donald O'Connor just throws the bin in the air for no reason :) oh yeah, and which 2 idiots disliked this??? xxx

  • @ballerinagirl1001~i love it when they slap there legs and kick them up together in front of the teacher

  • Bet that old guy is partly thinking "What the hell?!" and partly "God, I wish I could dance like that". Love it when Donald O'Connor just throws the bin in the air for no reason :) xxx

  • This is the best tap dancing scene of the entire movie!! SO MUCH TALENT!!!!!!!!

  • there such a beast. I have mad respect for them did you know they ha to do this all in one take no editing back then. If they messed up they had to start back from the beginning, but they where so amazing.

  • @BigCurlyHair16 haha, that isn't entirely true...they cut together parts, and it was filmed separately from the recording of the audio.

But I totally agree, this is my jam! this is talent for real, not just music that is "catchy"(though it is that too <3)
