I am often floored by purist snobs who say this should be harpsichord. Ridiculous. Scholars say its a violin concerto transcription anyway. Gould playing the BWV 1052 on piano is the most important display of Bach's genius and emotional capacity I can possibly imagine! This is perhaps the most important recording in all Western Music.
This live performance is by far the most exciting Gould recording of this work I have heard (especially the third movement.) The CBS studio recording with Leonard Bernstein from the same year is the one I'm familiar with.

Gould is always transcendental. I just wanted to say that I found the orchestra's playing to be exemplary.

to my ears it sounds like the orchestra cant agree on what notes should be played in what performance style (way to use the bow)

I have listened to recordings of this by Glenn Gould, somehow the live performance makes a difference. Thank you Truecrypt.

si dice di mozart l'unico e di beethoven il più grande. Bene, il maestro gould incarna l'una e l'altra
