This film has been criticized for being weak. For instance, Romeo and Tybalt do not have a duel. Romeo just approaches Tybalt and stabs him. In both the older 1936 film, and the 1968 film, there is a fight between Tybalt and Romeo. This and some other scenes were poorly done in the 1954 film.

Romeo looks like he's in his mid thirties! But I like the iron grating between them during their marriage - nice symbolic touch.
