  • it's what i tend to sometimes call "inappropriate perfection".

GRANDE !!!

  • Che bella voce!!

  • She seems to sing this horribly difficult aria almost without any visible or audible effort, especially the cabaletta Salgo gia'. And I like her voice timbre.

  • She's wonderful: I expected more form that conductor though...

  • BRAVA!

    BRAVA!

    BRAVA!

  • Can somebody explain to me why was she so under appreciated?

  • @lungdoc

Perhaps because she was just SINGING and not creating herself. And there are still singers who just SING and remain relatively unknown

  • I didn't know there was a video- recording of this performance. Christine ROCKS!! :)) Too bad Muti's conducting, she could have sung C at the end of stretta. Nevertheless-great artistry! Brava!

  • Hi there, I think that large voices are still around but, like you said, one does not hear them often. The heavy tenor of the early previous century until the 60ties are simply not popular anymore in the operahouses. Too baritonal for many and the directors rather hear the light brighter tenors in the dramatic roles. Agree, a shame. I love deutekom but not so much her coloratura at times though, but each to their own. Do you still sing?

  • Qué interpretación tan genial. Esta mujer es un portento. Qué dominio del canto, qué registro. La mejor soprano de todos los tiempos. Bravísima.

  • Brava!

Duo2102 is quite right: nice and effortless bel canto (just listen to her high passage at mezzo piano at 3:10-3:15!)

    Bravissima!

  • One of the best sopranos in this role. I'm happy to have heard her twice in live performances!

  • I got goosebumps at the very beginning of hearing this, and I can say that this very rarely happens to me upon hearing any singers.

  • Brava Cristina!!! I wish I had had the chance to see her live.

  • Effortless bel canto of the old school !!!! Grazie Cristina!
