Did you see the little boy pumping his fist in the air when Sir Nigel said they didn't have girls in the classroom? xD Too cute. Goodness, do you see how he asks the kids to come and sit down with him? And how comfortable he is around children? It's adorable. He'd make such an excellent grandpa. He is sooo different than the roles that he's famous for. His quiet countenance and kind, grandfatherliness are shocking to me after watching so much Yes, Minister, but I love it.

unfortunately the tabloids and narrow minded bigoted america were more interested in mudslinging garbage and vicious bigoted hatred towards Nigel being gay ... they didnt give a rats ass on the fact that he was a brilliant actor and a giving one at that .. and its still just as bad in this country - you risk your job, even your life simply because your not straight. people dont care about your life they just think about what you do in bed. just plain stupid
I just noticed - as soon as he's in Cape Town talking to South African kids, you can hear the traces of South African accent in his voice. The rest of the time he sounds totally English.
Thanks so much for posting! Nigel Hawthorne is my favourite actor. I can't get over how totally unlike Sir Humphrey he is in real life, it's hard to see even the slightlest resemblance. I guess that goes to show what a great actor he was! And what a moving and sad life story. Anyway, thanks very much again!

at 5:48 the teacher looks at her watch. She didn't seem to like Sir Nigel coming to her class.

Sir Hawthorne had very nice, strong and beautiful voice. He does very well in BBC documentary about Russia.

Maybe his sexuality was something that hinderd his success. Or rather the discriminating assholes that made it a problem for them...

Most Hollywood directors and high-ups are bigots. He'd have normally gotten more awards and attentions there, instead he didn't It's clear why
